This has to be one of the worst hobby shops I' have ever seen I don't believe i seen an adult one they have a 14 year old kid that doesn't have the 1st clue on anything other chewing gum if waste your money in this horrible excuse of a hobby shop it's places like this that are ruining the remote control hobby the owner of this bubble gum stadium should hire someone that actually understands what they are doing and someone who actually has customer service Amain hobbies ruined hobby town I would drive to Denver to a reputable shop that actually understands customer service and sells remote control I'm pretty sure walmart has a better selection do Alamosa a favor close your doors before you destroy the hobby

Before you read this revised review, I need to reiterate how fantastic the owners and the employees of this store are. This store will cater to you. They bend over backwards to keep the loyal happy. I couldn't actually be any happier with them.Although... .. I am revising this review after learning how little the MTG group appreciates the support and dedication of its group players.I had been attending events, FNM and lots of Tuesdays as well for damn near 2 years. Getting screwed at several events and kept showing to support the group & store, thinking maybe these are just accidents. So after repeat situations that involved or not involved my son and myself, ufortunately this play group has left a nasty taste in my mouth as of late.I won't be purchasing anymore mtg product from this store nor attending events. If you're not local or in real tight with the group don't plan on being appreciated by the mtg facilitators.

The town of Alamosa has quite a few interesting stops for visitors. But, if you live here and are a hobbyist, this makes a great local resource.They specialize in Radio controlled cars, planes, and boats. But they also have a pretty great table top gamer section for players of D&D, Magic the Gathering, and Warhammer upstairs and arrange social meet ups and game nights. Family game night options are also available, as well.Not really a gamer? They have you covered with plastic model cars, model trains, STEM toys, illustration supplies, kids' crafts, and model rocket kits that are sure to make a boring weekend into a blast.There are indoor test tracks for your favorite RCM, and a full model train track in progress.They are definitely worth the gas you save driving into the city. Look here first!

Great place to get fun gifts. Love the RC car. Staff is great. They showed us how repair, maintain and upgrade it. They have lots of different toys, models, games, drawing, paints, and lots of other things to play with and/or build, as well as parts and supplies. Plus game nights, carpet racing, model rocket classes and launches. I highly recommend this place for fun gifts.

I absolutely love this store! They have one of almost everything, and are happy to order the few things not on hand. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable, and even my fellow customers are nice! I might spend too much time and money here, but it's always more than worth it.

I turn up to look around here at the Big Valley Hobby Town probably once a month, and I seem to always enjoy myself. Not only do they have neat and interesting things in the store, but the staff is pretty cool; meaning: very knowledgeable & very helpful... but (and this is a big deal for me) not pushy in that 'hovering' way one often expects from 'gadget' stores like this one.The reason it got four stars from me, not five stars, has only to do with their inventory, or lack thereof. There are a lot of items in stock, but for the most part, everything will need ordered, thus your awaiting your purchases' arrival.

This little hobby shop is wonderful! They hosted a beginners D&D, Keith is a great teacher and we had a lot of fun. The next day I brought my kids in to take a look around and the staff took the time to engage with them about their hobbies and interests. We left with a couple of new projects and smiles on everyone's faces.

I finally decided to check out this store, and I love it! They have tons of quality items from RC, models, trains, games and other hobby things. They have game nights and the staff was great, I felt welcome the minute I walked in. I don't know why I took so long to go into this store but I'm glad I did, I will be making many trips back in.

Friendliest staff and plenty to see, even in one of the smallest stores in town. I spent easily over an hour walking down each and every aisle three times over, just because if see something I didn't catch before. You can find something for any enthusiast of any age. If only the prices were more affordable, HobbyTown would be fine stars.

This is the type of hobby shop I always hope to find in a community. It has RC cars, models, rockets, kites, board games, Dungeons & Dragons books, and more. They also apparently host the local boy scout troop which is just a solid community-supporting gesture, in my opinion.I bought a kite and a new board game I'd been eyeing for a while and I'll be back for more! Kelly and Jason were friendly and welcoming, which easily ensures my return business. 😊

Man can't say enough good things about this place, first of all just the enthusiasm and joy this business brings all around, the owners are extremely knowledgeable, and explain to you everything you have questions on, friendly service, almost like a home like environment. I went into this business today with a bad day behind me and they turned my whole day around and just absolutely made my day. Highy recommend even just to go look around. I really appreciate everything they have done.

A great little hobby store. But it's like a box of chocolates , they never know what there gonna get..i had wanted an rc car asked them to put one on hold or call me when or if it comes in, few months later went in to look what they had , and someone already had it on lay away. One of those things the store gets one of.. some of staff not to nolagleable of what they have, had to call and wait for manager.

I simply called to ask for prices on two items, and the female answering the phone my 1st call would not verify that it was the correct location I was calling and said that it WAS NOT the Alamosa HobbyTown store. The phone number isn't a known local prefix, which is why I questioned if I had the correct store.I was just there last week and check my receipt and it was the same number I dialed. I redialed after she hung up on me in the middle of me asking her a question and the other owner, her husband answered. I believe the first call said Tammy was her name, the owner also, but can't be sure as I was hung up on so quickly.I explained the prior call, and it was ignored without an apology or further inquiry. Matt, the owner, was helpful to an extent, but was in such a rush to get off the phone I didn't feel comfortable continuing a phone call to further ask details. Looks like Amazon gets my Xmas business this year. Free shipping, guaranteed customer service, no misinformation and warranties since 2003. A bit better option for many, or at least myself. The owner didn't even know his own layaway policy.Usually in store is a great experience, but seeing former HobbyTown employees at their new jobs elsewhere in the community, I hear the working environment is quite stressful with controlling management/demanding owners. Even current employees have stated the same. After being ignored and treated rudely as a customer by the owner as a customer, I can't imagine employment there.I won't be coming back, which is sad as it's local and convenient, but customer service should be top priority, especially when talking about purchases over $1,800. Online stores are usually 10% cheaper in price on everything HobbyTown sells except models and role play games. Good luck to future customers.No need to reply, Matt (or Tammy), for my sake, as it was well proven that I wasn't a concern today, so I shouldn't be here when you attempt to reply. You're helping facilitate hobbyists and gamers in the San Luis Valley, but that's now the only positive I see, hence the 2 star instead of 1 star rating.

Great selection and good prices. They can fix your drones too. Huge space in the back to test out drones or play dungeons and grains and mtg. Games happening almost every night.
