Big r is one of our favorite shopping places on almost every weekend. Be sure to check out their great sales that they have. We love picking up our dog snacks here . We have established a great rapport with most all staff and we quote welcome ourselves in. LOL

Very disappointed that I have to leave a bad review but here we go. I have been shopping at this store for years. I am an over the road truck driver so I buy most of my clothes, boots, tools, ect from Big R, both Monte Vista and Alamosa locations. (Never had problems in Monte Vista) I went in today around 6:00 pm to buy a new hat because that’s what I do. I buy $30 hats wear them for a little then buy a new one. I found 3 hats that I really liked and I’m the type to try them on before I buy one that I like just to make sure they fit and I’m happy with my purchase. As I’m going through the hats I see the assistant manger standing by some clothes and watching me! I ignore it and walk up to the mirror to start trying the hats on and as I looked across i seen the assistant manager and a girl employee both watching me and I can see that they are talking to one another. I ignore them and continue to try on the hats. Then the girl employe has the nerve to come up to me and ask if I needed help with anything 🤣 Why would I need help with trying on a hat let’s be real lol. I told her that I noticed that her and the assistant manager have been watching me and that I was not ok with that! I explained to her that I’m a truck driver, I have my own business and I shop there often and I don’t need to be watched like if I’m stealing or doing something wrong! I also told her she should look at the cameras outside and she would of saw that I pulled up in a $60,000 truck! She denied it and told me I wasn’t being watched and apologized. Then the assistant manager walked up to me and told me that she was sorry and I wasn’t being watched that they were “watching” someone else but I know what I saw. I have tattoos so I feel like they were judging me based off my appearance, that is wrong and also illegal to discriminate!! You should never judge a book by its cover period. This better not happen again and next time I come in I want to shop in peace and be treated with respect like everyone else!!

Literally go anywhere else, there lucky I’m putting one star cause if I could put 0 stars I would customer service is just disappointing, they yell and lie on you, I called to let them know about something the did wrong on there end about my propane. They didn’t even care that it was leaking because of something they did and I had my three children in the car and was hoping they would take accountability and help me out. they yelled at me hung up and said I talked to six people and yelled at them when I only spoke to two people the whole time?!? Managers are supposed to be helpful and understanding towards there customers and well there not here at this location definitely going to tractor supply co… which sucks because I’ve been a customer of this location for over 2 years now. Anyways GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

Called big R to check for a part. They said they had 2 in stock I asked them to make sure because I had to drive 60 mi to get it. They said yes two in stock. When I got there there were none. Shelves were empty. They told me well the computer said. When you live so far away, a customer service is important. Especially in a small town, the person that told me that there were two in stock would not even come up to the desk to talk to me. It was probably better that way. I don't know where customer service is gone. So sad to say.

I would give ZERO stars if I could!!!! I really hope the corporate office deals with their “managers”. Yelling at employees in front of customers, holding medical records from their staff, older managers/staff outing certain employees… there is so much ugliness to this store and it’s starting with their “leaders”. Hopefully something will change. Your manager Kella I believe yelled at me in front of customers and claimed I wasn’t “married” to my husband. I would love to know who trains them to act “professionally” so sad. If corporate doesn’t do something hopefully the State will.

I bought a $500 Red Max 4650 watt generator here and kept it in the garage, new in the box, ready for an emergency. 6 months later we had a power outage so I took it out, put in the oil and fresh premiumm gas, thing absolutely would not start even with starter fluid. Mistakenly took it back to Tractor Supply and they did their best to get it running to no avail, before we figured out I didn't buy it there (they don't carry that scrap), but they were extremely courteous. Took it back to Big R in Alamosa to exchange it for a more expensive model. They could not have cared less, wouldn't even bother to look it up in their system, I will never shop there again!

Tractor supply is a much friendlier and helpful place. I’d rather shop bigR, they have a much wider selection of items, but employees don’t seem eager to help. I’ve also had instances of special ordering items and never getting a call to say it arrived. When I go and ask about it employees look at me like I’m crazy. Then they go to the back and find it and I hear that it’s been sitting there for days. Just a little effort in the areas that matter the most would make this a decent store.

This place has it all--literally! From clothes, to pet care, to all of your hardware needs. Don especially helped me, he was so kind and walked me all the way to the propane heaters (what I went in there for) and even checked on me to make sure I was finding what I needed. The other staff was so friendly and welcoming. Check out this hardware superstore if you're in the area! It's awesome!

I reserved a gun safe from the Alamosa store, called three days ahead to confirm it was saved for me. Upon confirmation I drove three hours one way to pick it up only to learn they had sold it the night before. So learn from my mistake and do not trust their word. Not a single person, including the manager offered an apology. Thanks for nothing, I won't be back

Filled my 5 gallon propane tank. Some vendors in the area charge for the full 5 gallons regardless of how much is already in the tank. Big R charges only for the exact amount used, and is about 20¢/gallon cheaper than the other vendors. Always friendly helpful employees.

I would suggest just ordering it online. I think the only reason the store is open is because people do not have much of a choice. I had to visit three times to accomplish something and I wasted five hours of driving just to be abused by an employee they did not care that I was shopping and needed to accomplish something in a timely manner. It is frustrating tho I kind of understand they are probably underpaid and understaffed. In the future I will figure out another way to buy things and not support bigr it is clear they do not care about the community or the people supporting them

We tried wood pellets from everyone in the valley, big r had the two best brands, Western and Tierra. However the better of the two was quickly sold out and never restocked. Loading them for us is a plus. This is our go to farm store, always nice staff, greetings at the door is a nice touch.

First of all, staff charged me for the wrong concrete. when i went in to correct the invoice, instead of reimbursing the difference, I was DOUBLE CHARGED!!! The Staff needs to curtail their conversations in front of customers AND FOCUS on the task!! The selection of hardware is less than desired. When I mentioned Amazon, I was actually encouraged to buy from then. So much for the slogan " Shop Local". If you're a rancher good store, I guess. Homeowner, good luck..If you don't have one..CREATE AN AMAZON ACCOUNT!! You're gonna need it living here in the SLV

Stopped in to Big R Farm & Ranch Supply in hopes to find a big enough rambler to keep drinks hot for the weekends cold outdoor activities. Found a Yeti gallon rambler for a comparable price you'd find online - great quality. This store has everything you need at reasonable prices. I recommend stopping to check this location out.

Had price wrong the old swap and bate game. They sell propane tanks but won't fill them even with a legal tag on them. Tracker supply has real price on there stuff and fill tanks without the hassle.

This place is horrible I have left here FOUR times trying to buy a firearm. I have bought three previous firearms from here from two nice gentlemen that I see no longer work here. service is rude or at times non attentive First two rude times we waked around the counter for 20 minutes once even in front of a manager and he looked at us and walked away we said i guess we'll go somewhere else just today we were looking for a Christmas present for my mom we were waiting as the help was happily helping an older gentleman then he finished up and we were looking at two handguns she didn't like either of them and said she'll wait I asked to look at a rifle the man helping sighed like ugh you guy's are annoying me I had him put it back and again the frustrated sigh came so I told him I'm going to buy an ak and a shotgun he clearly heard us but ignored we went to the other side and waited he stayed on the other side so we left this is really annoying we've had good experiences here last year this a lot of the employees suck they cater to who they want I feel that they profile people so I'd rather drive an hour away to salida and buy all my firearms from them.

Although the stuff in store is fine, customer service was simply disappointing. Was laughed at by employees, had a clerk say boots I was purchasing "smelt funny" just things that are not appropriate as a employee. Will not be returning.

The big R In Alamosa the employees judge the people the way they look and make you feel very uncomfortable you can't even look around the store they are right there watching every move you make it you can't even Enjoy looking at the stuff in big R the way employees look and watch you it's very Uncomfortable feeling I really think they need to find better employees and something needs to be done how the employees treat you at big R it is not right at all the way Because the way you look

I drove an hour to get 2 propane tanks filled. The blond girl in the back said one tank was not certified. I asked to speak with the manager. I just bought a new fifth wheel in October and they were both certified then. They refused to fill the tank even though it had a certification stamp on it, they said it had to have a sticker. So I went to Amerigas to have them certify it. The tech was baffled why I was recertifing a tank only 8 monts later. So it cost me $10 to have a sticker on it and 2 hours out of my life to recertify a certified tank. The manager did apologize to me but that doesn't make up for THEIR mistake. Watch out

Just passing through. They had the leather tie down I needed. It seemed very inconvenient for one of the 5 employees chatting at the back counter to help me find the rain slickers. It also seemed very inconvenient for the front checker to finish her conversation and scan out my items. This was done without a single word (other than the total) said to me.
