Have eaten here 3 times and generally has been good, but tonight's visit was disappointing. Here's a summary: wine choice was good - paid $42 for a $30 bottle, a good price and reasonable markup - 5 stars. Bread was OK, but not worth $5...comes complimentary at most other restaurants- 3 stars. Calamari appetizer was excellent. Tender, plentiful, and tasty - 5 stars. Feature of the day, a $42 boneless NY Strip steak. Can honestly say it was one of the worst steaks I've had in recent memory. Very tough, chewy, and wasn't able to finish even half of it (nor did I want to). Shared my opinion with the server who said he would pass on to the chef, but still charged me full price. 🤷♂️ Steak - 1 star; service 2/3 stars. Overall a disappointing visit given the hefty bill at the end. Was hoping for more.

Service was great! Very attentive and seemed to care. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary and they offered us a complimentary dessert! The drinks were delicious and the food was nice. We shared the tomahawk for two with a side of Mac and cheese. I've had better elsewhere but also worse. Their sauce selection for the steaks was great, the gorgonzola one was delicious.

First time there and enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. I brought my own wine a nice 14 Zin I been saving told waiter be careful soft old cork will ripe out sure enough. I asked for a decanter and a filter he brought back cheese clothe and was able to filter the wine perfect. His timing was perfect on our dishes as he brought them out. Not rushed at all. All of our steaks were cooked perfect rare, med rare rib eye prime rib all super delicious. Beautiful little town. We will be going back for sure.Parking: tons of free parking across the street

Every time I eat here I am never disappointed, and this visit was no exception. My family went there to celebrate a birthday, we each ordered something different, and each entreé was delicious. My Taylor sirloin wrapped in bacon had a yummy char to it, my husband's Surf and Turf with lobster was lovely, & my brother's fried chicken sandwich was a spicy but good surprise. Our server Robbie was friendly and checked on us regularly to make sure we were content. Buckhorn, you never cease to amaze me.

The original Buckhorn makes a good location for a fancier and a more upscale class dining experience. The interior, that is perfectly lit with comforting gold lighting, is filled with heads of game that finish of the setting of a cabin in the hills. Their service was honorable for many restaurants, and the food was delicious, it happens to be even better than other locations. As well as higher quality food. I ordered a 9oz ribeye with a baked potato and asparagus👇🥩Edit: I dined here again and had an even better experience. Ordered the tri-tip, loaded baked potato and seasonal medley this time around. Once again, pure delicious

We had 16oz boneless ribeye and Taylor sirloin. Food were excellent! Especially, ribeye was amazing, so juicy and tender! We said we made a good choice after just one bite 😃Great place for celebrating our special day.

We've previously loved all our visits here, except last night disappointed 😞. Server was friendly, but uneducated on wines so couldn't assist with questions. Most wine is now by the bottle, rather than glass, w/o taste prior to purchase. Clam appetizer was tasty, NY steak was good, not usual excellent, rack of lamb was awesome (please offer mint jelly upon request), chimichura sauce not my favorite, with lamb. The broccoli/pepper veggie portion was tough and bitter. Hopefully this is a rare bad night.

I grew up in the area and the only thing that has changed about the Buckhorn is the prices. We took my mom and my niece for their birthdays. We had a large party and no one order was forgotten or messed up which I have to say I was surprised. Everyone really enjoyed their food. I’m still dreaming of the Cajun steak bites! Yum!!!

tomahawk and Dark pepper butter.Oh my.The tomahawk was flavored and paired with the flavored butter is amazing. The calamari was ok and the iceberg wedge was delicious.this is by far one of the best statehouse I have been to.the portions are generous and don't for forget to add the lobster tail.A family of 3 can easily feast on a tomahawk.

She had the Prime Rib and I had a Rib Eye and clam chowder wow everything was delicious. And our server was the best in the bar as well as at our table. We have been here many times in the past we have always lovedit however the atmosphere gets pretty loud in there.

We came here last night to finish planning for a dinner we are hosting the the following night. They have been extremely helpful during the planning (50 people) and seating. Last night we had a few ‘apps’ and some cocktails and they were very good. I had not been in this establishment for almost 30 years and it has been extensively remodeled and it is fantastic! Love the new look and feel.

Gosh I hate to post anything less then a 5 for one of our favorite Anniversary spots for dinner, the service and atmosphere was great as always. The Buckhorn has a lot of hunting trophies on the walls, a great bar area and a nice high ceiling dining room. The steaks were awesome as in the past but it looks like they've trimmed the menu of some red meat options. The $13 Margaritas were bland and small enough that we had to ordered a third one for my wife and I (Casa Ramos for large & tasty ones👍) and the Ceasar Salad was large but tasteless.Winters is a great small farming community but it is growing with the outflow from the Bay area, it's always a delight to visit, parking is good but the downtown does get busy and they do dress the town up for the season, worth the drive to visit.

I would say... only come here for cocktails. Otherwise, you are paying so much money for small portions, like SEVERELY overpriced. We had ordered seared scallops (said a shared dish) we recieved 3 scallops for $16...I could have bought a pound of scallops and smeared some Gerber butternut squash and burnt (burnt) butter on a plate for the same price. If you see the picture, we had split one scallop already. So, we paid about $5.25 per scallop. Yikes! Then what was most upsetting was we ordered the tomahawk steak, which portion and flavor wise was great, and you get your choice of potatoes along with a vegetable. However, we ordered the steak medium rare and was VERY RAW. Not only was it raw, but the pwrcent of fat cap to meat was LARGELY disproportionate. I'm talking about 40% meat and 60% fat. Don't get me wrong, I love a good amount of fat. However, it was just too much fat, even for me...That being said, if you like overpaying for a gimic... come here.Just get cocktails because they are the only thing worth the price. They were tasty and well-balanced. And our server was fast, jind friendly and warm. It was just unfortunate that our food didn't lice up to the reputation.

The place is nice but loud. Waiting time was about 25 minutes. They took like another 25 minutes to get our food. But the bread is delicious with butter is delicious and the food is great. I got the char roasted sirloin and it was On point!!!! Simply delicious. Their pie is really good too. Not too rich so it's easy to finish the whole thing.

Buckhorn is a great gem in Winters. Our experience (spring ‘22) has been that reservations are helpful but not really needed for a couple. The steaks are fantastic of course, but there are also some great appetizers, cocktails, and wine. We’ve had the filet, the bone-in ribeye (my favorite), and the prime rib and have no complaints! The calamari and BREAD (serving size is massive) are also our go-to’s!Casual vibe and reasonably priced. Would recommend!

We were in town visiting my grandmother and our Aunt was raving about this place. She treated me and my sister's to dinner here. This restaurant was amazing. Everything from the spirits to the appetizers to the main course, it was delicious. The spinach and artichoke dip was some of the best I ever had. Be prepared to spend some coin tho, place is expensive, but you get what you pay for and I loved every bite. I cannot wait to go back and visit my Grams just to eat at this place again.

Our family has been going here for Christmas dinner for over 7 years now, but this will be the last year. The prices sky rocketed since last year the bill was over a $1000. They charge you for the bread that is stupid really!! The green beans were not cooked at the end of the meal they were all left on the plates when you consider the price of the meals. The steak was great, but what you get with it was not to good.

What an awesome meal! Everything was delicious! The steak was tender, juicy and flavorful! Served with buttery mashed potato and crunchy lightly buttered green beans. 42 day aged rib eye. If you are up to it, because it's huge, ask for the Tomahawk dinner for two!

Definitely not what it used to be. The typical entree was $40-45 and bread was no longer included while waiting for your meal. Soup or salad was also additional. We used to get strawberry daiquiris but were told they no longer have a blender. When my entree arrived it was a meager portion on a huge plate. Management should be embarrassed! If I hadn't paid extra to have bread and salad I would have left quite hungry. We've gone there nearly every year for our anniversary and in the past took home leftovers after stuffing ourselves. Instead of an extensive formal book style menu, they now give you a flat 1/2 clipboard with rubber bands holding a paper on the front and back. The menu was quite condensed from what we were used to in years past. The food was still as appetizing as ever.
