I drive through Walnut Grove coming and going from the central valley to the East Bay. I noticed this year that Mel’s was offering Gunther’s Ice Cream. Yes! So good! The shop is super cute with seating inside and out. You order at the counter and I’ve never had to wait for long. I have only ordered and ice cream cone to go, but there’s a full menu of lunch sandwiches, too. A great stop for a sweet treat!

Who’s going for a drive on the Sacramento Delta And saw this shop, stopped for ice cream and some sandwiches, was amazing. They carry ice cream by going through us, and the sandwiches here are top notch. If you need somewhere to stop for lunch in Walnut Grove or Cortland, Mel’s Mocha and Ice Cream is the place you should go.

This is an awesome place. I was looking for a Starbucks because I had a business Zoom call, but the nearest Starbucks was 50 minutes away and my meeting was in 15 minutes. I went inside the store and asked if they had WiFi and they said, yes. I got a medium coffee and a pastri for under $6 and I was able to do my Zoom call which took 1hr. They even had power for my laptop and a great view of the river (I sat by the window). It was a life saver. I will stop by here more often. Great people, beuatiful view, and old school ice cream shop feel. I highly recommend this place.

Just had a scoop of ice cream during my bike ride and really appreciated the staff and their attentiveness. They scoop ice cream from a reputed high-quality place in San Francisco with all sorts of different flavors. The cherry and I believe mocha almond were to die for. Also, it’s in the oldest building in town. Really cool that they preserved that heritage.

Their services are fantastic they are patient and very welcoming. They have the rare butter brickle icecream prouduct from Gunther's if you need or want any other refreshing icecream on the way this is the spot to go.

Create your own sandwiches. They are wonderful. Gunther's ice cream is really good. Staff very patient and friendly. If your driving the river road, good stop to make. If your boating the delta there's a dock for you.

Good small place to eat, located in a small town. This whole area is beautiful and worth checking out. They had good ice cream sherbert and mint chocolate chip, and I got the Ryer sandwich, also quite tasty. Ice cream prices are okay sandwich was a bit pricey for its size, but other than that no complaints.

The terrible customer service reviews at this place are valid. Went there today after reading them on the chance that it might have improved, but instead was confirmed. I called this morning to ask what time they serve breakfast until and the person who answered said it's served all day. So I drove 45 minutes only to be told rudely when I got there they had NO breakfast menu items because they were out of eggs. Really? You couldn't have mentioned that on the phone when I called? Yep, that really happened. And there were only 2 people working so it's not hard to figure out the one who I talked to on the phone is the one that said they're out. And then to say rudely just makes it all that much better. You aren't gonna be met with a smile or a "thank you for coming in" at this place, that's for sure. I think a good training course in customer service would benefit this place, you know....try smiling once in a while when you're working with your customers, it really helps.

My sister was ordering from a short woman away from cash register. And the tall lady by cash register tell my Sis to wait till she's done with the customer she's dealing with not k owing jer co-worker is taking my sister's order.. My brother ordered a hot salami sandwich. His sandwich came out cold. This was our first time, we took our order to go. Never again, they need better communication. Sandwiches was not the best for $53 spent.

Ate lunch there with my 4 friends yesterday. Had sandwich and ice cream. They were very busy so some patience was required. We boated there on the sacramento. Great experience and nice turn around spot from Isleton on a warm day

The ice cream was delicious, I had to try the Bailey's Irish Cream. We also tried the cherry and it was fabulous. We got cones, ice cream was very soft and melted fast considering it wasn't hot out.Very yummy ice cream, but be prepared to eat it fast or get a cup.

I Took my co-worker and my 9 yr old son to this place for the first time . The lady who helped us displayed a poor attitude and a body language that showed no interest in helping first time customer. Made me feel like my kind were not welcomed in this establishment. We were all dressed accordingly,well mannered individuals who support small local mom & pop businesses. A hello OR thank you for coming would of been nice, I mean we spent a decent amount of $$$ for 3 basic sandwiches, 3 drinks that were 90% ice and 2 ice cream. I forgive you ma'am, you must of had a long bad day and unknowingly projected your negative energy toward us. May your business continue to prosper.

I adore Mel's! It's a staple on the main drag in Walnut Grove. It's so colorful that you can't miss it! They have coffee and sandwiches, but my go to is always a malt, shake, or ice cream 🍨! It is absolutely delicious!And though this may sound odd, I have to say that the way they used corrugated steel in the restroom is so cool that I'm trying to find a way to incorporate it into our decor!The only downside to Moe's is that some items are a little expensive.

This is my favorite place to chill at on the weekends. Great sandwichs, awesome dogs and the ice cream is the best. Plus if you're looking for a new flavor to try they have pear ice cream which goes well with pear orchard's all around. Highly recommend.

My family and I had lunch and icecream after ward here this weekend. Both the food and ice cream were amazing! The place had a steady stream of people the entire time we were there. The girls working worked so hard. It was a great experience.

my parents used to work at antioch, and my sister and i discovered their ice cream.. first time taste, we were like blown away… it was really good!! i mighta say the best ice cream i’ve ever tried! my parents don’t really eat ice cream coz it’s too sweet and their both monitors their blood sugar.. and when they tasted it, papa said “this is the best ice cream i tried in my whole life” he’s 58 yo. by the way.. now my parents working at sacramento, we still keep longing the mel’s ice cream taste. the taste was not really sweet, they made real fruit like strawberry ice cream, my favorite one! still passing by whenever we crave some ice cream.. a must try!! superb!!!!

The ice cream and sandwiches are always delicious. My favorite is their egg salad sandwich. Normally the service is great. Today the brunette young lady who was the cashier was very rude and had very poor customer service skills. I have not seen her before so I will assume she is new. Other than this one unfortunate time I have had nothing but good service and great food here.

They have the best sandwiches and ice cream and smoothies in the delta. Great service and friendly staff. Located right along the river and the walnut grove public dock access ramp is right outside. Perfect spot to dock your boat and grab one of thier signature Gunther's ice creams
