This place is a hidden gem. Drive down the driveway to see a little farm with lots of animals, vast landscape hugged by the mountains. The cutest market, shop, and property.Great snack, food, chocolate, and gift selection. The staff is really friendly. It's a neighborhood spot for the community.I could imagine the most gorgeous wedding at this venue. 😍

Went here for an event once, and came here on another trip just for the goodies - nuts, fudge, coffees and teas!Such a wide selection of everything, but the best are both the nuts and home-made fudge. Never can leave without getting both!A visit to the small zoo is a must-do as well. See if the tortoise is out and about.

Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center is the perfect family escape from Temecula! The scenic drive sets the stage for a day of fun. Their market is a treasure trove of adorable gifts, homemade fudge, and unique treats like flavored nuts. The best part is seeing the pure joy on my daughters' faces as they feed and interact with the friendly goats, sheep, llamas, pig, chickens and roosters, geese and ducks! We always leave Bates Nut Farm feeling happy and refreshed.

We had so much fun here! Someone recommended it to us because we were in the area. We thought it was maybe a little roadside stand or something. Nope! We went for the pumpkin patch and ended being there for two hours! We also did a fair amount of shopping at the gift shop inside.

We love the Pumpkin Patch at Bates Nut Farm. We go every year for the farm vibe and fresh pumpkins. Be cautioned that if you show up halfway through October or closer to Halloween, there are a lot of pumpkins that are no longer good. The variety of pumpkins is amazing. The kids attractions are pretty expensive. We usually limit the kids to only a couple of activities. At $4/ticket, multiple tickets per attraction, it adds up fast.We love the Bates shop, which is open year-round. Be cautioned that the shop is super busy and overcrowded during the Pumpkin Patch. They have first-class fudge and baked goods, including sugar free and gluten free options. They have nuts, jams, sauces, candies and all sorts of delicious items. My husband always gets strawberry rhubarb jam and he looks forward to it all year. There is also a little back room that has all kinds of fun toys and old-timey decor, and during Halloween, it is jam packed with adorable Christmas decor. This is my favorite part of the shop.

Looking for a great place to spend the day? This one is a winner and not just for their special events, although those are very pleasant and well thought out. This is a place you can picnic or just stroll around the property at your leisure. They have a small zoo of rescued animals to enjoy, a store with every range of tree nuts you could imagine, a specialty fudge counter, nostalgic candy section and a wonderful gift shop! Christmas is one of my favorite seasons at the gift shop...their buyer curates the most eclectic collections of ornaments and gifts

Bates Nut Farm is a yearly tradition for my family. It usually takes us an hour to get there, but the landscape just makes it feel more like a fall activity. Bates has an amazing selection of pumpkins; from green to white to orange in color and from small to extremely large. Every year we strive to get a photo of my daughter sitting on a pumpkin. Aside from the pumpkins, the farm normally has a number of food/drink vendors as well as crafters. Their store offers cute Halloween and Christmas decorations, gifts, candy and snacks. You can also buy feed for their farm animals. We absolutely enjoy feeding the goats. If this wasn’t enough, there are activities perfect for the kiddos and families. They have a hay maze, hay rides, pony rides and a rock climbing wall. There is a $10 parking fee during the weekends in October.

This is a little hideaway place in valley Center that is just excellent. We went up for a craft fair, a small craft fair, that was very very interesting. The main store though is full of so much good stuff it's not funny. Specialty chocolates, tons of saltwater taffy, all kinds of nuts and mixes and cooking items. They have a better milk cracker seasoning that is to die for.

A wonderful afternoon on an autumn day. A petting zoo and little horse riding area and animals to feed for the kids. Lots of pumpkin options still available by Oct 27! 🎃

Quiet day here today (was a Mon and holiday) not crowded at all. The shops are always nice and fun, enjoy their selection of teas, hot sauces and rubs. Can't go wrong with the chocolate...Can buy some feed for the animals nearby. Never too old to get a little joy over petting some goats =)

Lots to do for all ages. Walking walking walking but there was a craft fair, antique cars, the animal petting, the kids fun zone and of course the nut barn. This weekend parking was free so be sure and check their events calendar.

Besides being a great place to bring children due to the petting zoo. It's also a nice venue for dogshows and other events. The store has souvenirs and cold drinks. The Farmers daughter is also a nice store for the ladies. There are picnic tables everywhere and even when it was crowded there was always somewhere to sit. A great place for a picnic as well.

To me, the best parts about this place are that they sell honey and chocolate, and that they have animals outside you can look at and feed. Other than this, I have never cared for the store. It is a beautiful place to sit and have a picnic outside, though. Watch out for the bees and wasps.

Come here every year. Lot of activities for the whole family. I love their store. A must have chocolate which tastes better than see’s candies.

Very beautiful place, very organic views. The pumpkin farm, the animals, and the road going there is such amazing. Fun place to teach the kids stage of growing and patching pumpkins. There are some animals kids can get in touch and feed closely. Few fast food and snack. Their shop have good variety of snacks and sweets plus decorationsWorth visiting

Loved this place! So many items, nuts of every kind, fudge, candies, jams and jellies, knick-nacks for just about every need. If you are anywhere in the southwest US it's worth a stop here. Helpful, friendly staff will be happy to give you free samples of fudge. If you buy a pound you'll get a half pound free. Loved the zoo where kids can even feed the animals. Be sure to bring quarters for the food dispensers. What a great find!

We can't get enough of this charming farm! It's amazing all year round, but is probably most known for its Fall festivals and pumpkin patch. We enjoy the community yard sales and craft shows that also attract food trucks. The petting zoo is adorable. And the store is not to be missed for gifts and snacks. Even the drive there is charming, weaving along an old carriage road underneath nut trees!

Perfect! We got there just as everything was opening up. It was still cool outside though we did wait on buying chocolate covered treats until the end of our stay which included picking out a variety of pumpkins.

It was such a good time with my 10year old on our field trip. We spent about 4 hours there. Everyone was friendly and had great customer service, well... Except the ice cream vendor and the boutique lady, but other than that we were happy with our service. They had lots of delicious snacks/treats and fun activities for the kids. We'll definitely come back annually

Came for a pumpkin patch. We were a little bit disappointed given the long distance driving we took for this. The nut shop was great, good selection of nuts and more. The truck exhibits were okay. We looked for pumpkin activities, such as petting zoo, but we only found the hay ride and corn maze.Be sure to wear protections for sun exposure.. lots of walking under the sun..

Nice spot for kiddos to spend all day and have fun. Tons of activities including tractor riding, petting zoo, rock climbing, facepainting, pony riding(please don't ride the ponies they're overworked), blowup slides etc. When you're done, grab a pumpkin or two on your way out if you have any tickets left. Pumpkins are honestly overpriced. You can get pumpkins at your local grocery stores.*bring plenty of water for your family and pooch. They sell $5 per bottled water. My nephews almost had a heat stroke. 😩*Stay away from the lemonade stand. Complete rip off. They give you the option to have lemonade in a disposable plastic cup or in a reusable water bottle. The pricing of the water bottle is not clear. By the time you pay for it, you realize you get ripped off by paying $10 for that dollar tree plastic bottle. Unbelievable.

This is a great place to get away from the city. During the week can be pretty quiet here. The weekends can be busy and even more busy when they're having a weekend event. The most popular season is around Halloween when they have their pumpkins. There is a petting zoo, more of a chance to feed the animals than actually being able to pet them. Their is the main store and a smaller store here. Also, a couple small picnic areas

It’s a bit of a schlep, but it’s actually a pretty drive. We combined it with a trip to the Valley View Casino, which is 5 minutes away.It was a very pleasant stop. They have many different nuts, candies, and concoctions, plus lots of nick nacks and other gift items. They have a large parking lot and grassy areas with tables, so packing a lunch is not a bad idea. The staff was very pleasant.

Best pumpkin patch in SD County. Go early if you want a big one! Excellent food next to the general store; great brats. I also go lots of fun goodies at the store (try the chocolate covered peanut clusters). Dogs are welcome too! Farm animals to see and even pony rides!

What a great experience. We visited on a rare cloudy Sunday, and everything was perfect. Beautiful pumpkin patch with some giant pumpkins, and dads hauling in wheelbarrows with the kids. Nice selection of decorative pumpkins too. A very fun straw maze for kids (best suited to younger kids, as the older kids can peep over the maze). The main Bates shop is a great opportunity for kids and adults to get into the Halloween candy craze. And a small little petting zoo to round off the experience. For the convenience factor, there are clean restrooms and quick food options like burgers and hot-dogs.The setting of the farm in a picturesque valley adds the extra fun touch. If you are driving from the San Diego metro area, take the more scenic route via Lake Wohlford Rd.

We went to visit Santa's market. Real country charm wrapped up in a beautiful setting. Parking was easy, vendors were so friendly and kind, and the funnel cake was to die for! The band was fun and they played everything from Christmas music to Zydeco. We also love to visit with all the animals, especially the Alpacas and Donkeys. Definitely worth a visit!

Went around Halloween time. Great place to go walk around with our toddler and check out the pumpkins and friendly animals. Heard it gets busy on weekends so I usually go toward the end of the day on weekdays and it's been great. Have not tried the food. $19 for a turkey leg is a bit steep for me.Outside of holidays, there are still animals to see and feed, the grounds are nice, and the country store has a ton of snack options and stuff.

What a fun place to go during the autumn for families and couples alike. It's best to go early in the season and in the morning if you can to beat the crowds if you're looking for the perfect pumpkin and to avoid lines for the pony rides or train ride. You can also feed the animals on the farm (food can be purchased for 25 cents in the old gumball machines or you can go in the store). The Bates store in the back is great for stocking up on some delicious treats for the season. Also, a nice place to have a picnic and enjoy being out in the outdoors (there are socially distanced tables).
