I joined The Ukiah Coop in the early 70s. Yes, Ukiah Natural Foods is still cooperatively owned. I am member number 48. I remember when it was next to the railroad tracks and it was called The Homestead Exchange. We could order fruit trees, and get staples, like brown rice at a cheaper price. When I visit Ukiah, I like to drop in to the "Coop" and see what is new or whom I might run in to. It is a great place to run into old friends if you become a regular.I love that you can buy things in bulk, and bring your own container (and keep plastic out of landfills). They have bulk honey, oils, nuts, seeds, beans, herbs and spices, and even sell shampoo, and essential oils in bulk. They have beautiful displays of organic fruit and vegetables. You can buy prepared foods and eat inside their new dining area. Or get a really great coffee drink or smoothie. If you don't live in the area, you might want to make a plan to drop by and see what you might find.

Very clean, friendly staff, loads of healthy food to choose from. The lunch bowls are fantastic. The prices on everything are very high (although Safeway is also ridiculous).

Your food is too good.... I get a bowl or a salad and there's alot of food on there... I can't stop eating it until it's all gone... it doesn't matter how full I get... I can't help it, I just keep eating until it's gone... and I wanna go back for more but I'm too full to stand.....

Just moved to the area and as I was missing Whole Foods, co-op quickly replaced it. I’m amazed of all the awesome, natural, non toxic products / brands that I was able to find. I’m impressed and at the same time, in love!

Great selections, but aisles are very narrow. This makes for a less enjoyable shopping experience.

If you're looking for healthy food, the co-op is your main option and a good one. Some local produce, and a good sized produce dept in general. Be prepared to spend more on dinner ingredients than you you usually would. Good bulk options- rice, granola, tea, beans, spices ect. Home and beauty products that I tend to trust.

This is a nice space overall. Pretty much most of what you'd be looking for in a co-op. I was a little surprised when I couldn't find a vegetarian DHA for babies on the shelf, as I know there are quite a few of us who have vegan or vegetarian babies and children in Ukiah. Prices can be a bit high, but something's are about average. I had a pleasant experience tonight over the nutritional yeast I had bought earlier in the day, (which was nasty), they said to bring it back, they went into the back and opened a new box and pulled the nutritional yeast that was in the bin and replaced it with the new, no questions asked. Obviously the bad stuff looked odd and taste bad, but that level of customer satisfaction is impressive.

Beautiful store with a deli and seating! They don’t stock everything- I think they ban gmo foods- not my choice but I can get some of what I need here and Safeway is right across the street!

I shop at the Coop sometimes, I like their produce. I had an unfortunate incident today. I pulled up and parked. My car happens to have a For Sale sign in the window. While I was there I got a call from someone who identified herself only as "a manager" who told me they had limited parking (they do not) and she would have my car towed if I didn't move it (which they can't do as it is posted as a public lot until 10pm). She was very snarky, told me "this isn't a used car lot" and refused to give me her name. She never even bothered to ask if I was in the store or had just finished shopping. They claim they are a member of the community, this is not how a member of the community acts. No wonder they are losing so much money and losing so many customers.

Employees Talking amongst themselves and ignoring the customers from the produce aisle to the checkout. Sorry this is my experience. Also so crowded everybody is in everybody else's way. It's almost impossible not to be in the way.

This beautiful store has everything I've been looking for!! I live in Clearlake and cannot regularly get a wide selection of this type of food there. Even at Whole Foods, in the Bay Area, I find that the things I used to shop for are less and less available. Most important to me is an excellent bulk section! Bulk is the best way to economize on natural items that are higher-priced. Buying bulk also allows me to use my own containers, reducing the ridiculous quantity of plastic we have to bring home from a typical grocery store visit. Many natural supermarkets have really reduced the selection of items available in bulk. Not the Ukiah natural foods co-op!! I found at least one variety of every grain, legume and nut I could think of. In some cases locally grown varieties are available. Look for the multi-color Mendocino quinoa ❤️At the grinding machines, in addition to peanut and almond, cashew butter is also available ($8.99 a pound for organic cashew✨✨).On the way out I decided to get lunch as well, and found the most delicious vegan sushi I've had in years. The Brown Rice Kameko Roll featured the mix of vegetables, including marinated, cooked shiitake. The sliced roll was topped with a spicy sauce and a green sauce which I was crazy for, but couldn't identify at first. They were spice and basil tahini 😍.

Worth it to buy a membership. Organic food is expensive! Always check to see what's on sale.

The co-op is dedicated to providing local organic food and products. Café and kitchen preparing house-made fare daily. Coffee and juice bar. Hot and cold food to dine in or takeout. Great wine, beer, cider, and plenty of other beverage options. Great staff. Open 7 days.

Beautiful store with an excellent selection of products and a wonderful area for eating or just hanging out. Love all the grab and go options, including the salad bar. Only negative are the prices, too expensive for most people on a budget. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

I am a bit disappointed that the juice bar has stopped excepting phone orders. It makes the coop a lot less accessible for people who work a 8-5 job.Calling a green smoothie order in cuts down on a 10-15 minute wait. With that time, I could just make it at home.I’ve switched out my usual green smoothie for Starbucks order, because I know I can run in and out.Hopefully, the coop will consider adding a mobile ordering system to their business model.

My 8 year old son was trying the banana chips out of their self serve area, and very rudely one of their managers(Lori) walked up to him and said,”little boy no more!” And when I told her he was just trying one of the banana chips! She said,”I’ve watched him take too many bananas chips!” An he is 8 and has very little hands, so there is no way he could have possibly taken more than 2 chips!! He felt so bad like he was stealing! He instantly got hurt! Like he just commented a crime! I will not go in that store as much as I once did! Just because of her!As a manager you would think you would have great people skills! An know how to talk with respect to not only adults but children! I will be telling all my family and friends about this! As well as my community! What a disappointment!

I'd give them half a star if I could. The cashiers and workers are very rude, they need to learn how to respect their elders and younger generation. my grandchildren were very sad coming out of the store because one of the workers made them cry.
