I stopped by there, which turned out to be a miscommunication.I spoke to someone at the clinic not the shelter. But when I knocked the woman was pretty rude and looked at me crazy or like I was weird for even coming by or talking to her. She did tell me it was for somewhere else. Usually people that work at animal places are a lil nicer tho.

This is a great place to volunteer. They are very flexible. After a simple orientation, you can drop in when you are available to walk dogs or interact with cats. There are many different ways to help. Would you like a hiking buddy? You can make a quick stop at the shelter and pick up a pup to take with you. Would you like the companionship of a pet but can't commit to having one full time? Stop by the shelter and bring a fur baby home for the weekend. The staff make it easy to help in any capacity. Pictured here is Marty, a very sweet and handsome boy we had over the weekend. If you're looking to cuddle, he's your man.

We got the best dog from here. We're so lucky to have found her. Staff was very kind too, made sure she was a good fit for our other dog. Her name was Sprout when we got her. She goes by Belle now.

Every one who works or volunteers here cares deeply about animals. I foster kittens for them and get all the support and supplies I could wish for. Spayed and neuter your pets, people!!

My boyfriend and I went by to try and find a dog to adopt, and we’re told they do not allow viewing the dogs in person, and if we wanted to see them we’d have to schedule an appointment online to meet just one. It seems impossible to make a connection with a dog just by seeing a photo online. When we voiced this, the person up front told us we wouldn’t be able to tell their temperament in person anyways because the shelter is too loud. This seems very counterproductive, and feels like it discourages adoption.

We miss being able to see all of the animals, and visiting with them. The pandemic has really changed a lot of things. This place is still amazing! We might not be able to visit all of the animals, but they allow meet and greets with an appointment. My mother was able to visit different dogs... until she found the perfect pet. This is the place to go!! We highly recommend!! Also if you ever want to donate pet food that your picky pet doesn't want, they gladly accept it.

We adopted a dog four or five years ago but they did NOT disclose that she had a leaky bladder problem. Thousands of dollars and no help later we are looking at rehoming our dog who we developed a loving trusting bond with because we could never afford to keep spending thousands of dollars on medications (each one proved to not work) and we can't afford a surgery to fix if there even is a surgery that would work. We are heartbroken and wildly upset that this shelter never disclosed an enormous problem.

I went between 2 and 3 stars because there was one staff member (I assume the main manager/supervisor, a distinguished gentleman) who went out of their way to greet us and talk to us while we were waiting for someone. Other than that we did not feel the person in charges of adoptions was either kind, considerate or professional. When we arrived the shelter was closed for lunch so we decided to go use the restroom elsewhere since the Restroom there was closed because of covid anyhow. Upon returning we saw a woman outside smoking by the dog adoption play area and we proceeded to go inside. When we got in we were told that everything was by appointment only but if we checked in with the adoptions that they might allow us to see and adopt a dog. We were told to wait by the adoption room and and we did for what seemed like forever but in the middle of that waiting. We were greeted bySomeone who had a conversation with us for a few moments and made us feel more welcomed. When we were finally greeted by the woman handling the adoptions she seemed irritated and frustrated to be helping us. She wasn't very helpful didn't ask any questions about what we were looking for. Instead just gave us a book with some animals in it and walked away and told us to call color when we decided what we wanted to see. Since my husband and I had a lot more questions I wanted to know a lot more information that we weren't given and we had just felt really uncomfortable the whole time with being there we decided to just leave and didn't get to adopt a dog that day. It was very unfortunate that we were made to feel we were being a bother. I hope that this isn't an occurrence that happens often. Thank you to those who were helpful.

I'm very disappointed in the service team for helping the I've called and asked about pets background and the team members had attitude and a condescending tone which led me to believe that the animals are not good House of the way they said well we know where they they also stated they're open on the website and drove all the way up there at 8:00 when it's supposed to be open and they're not till and they're not open also when I get connected to somebody that's completely different from the website prompts and their phone number connects me to somebody completely different shows me that there's something very very wrong with their team members attitude services and their phone lines being connected phone line from 3 is getting connected to some man that says it's not even some man is not even connected to the Ukiah animal shelter tells me there's something fraudulent going

Adopted my new friend today 4/20. Staff were a mixed bag, front desk was a little aloof. They have a nap time for the dogs between 1-2 but it doesn't say that on their website, only the lunch time of 1-1:30. Amy was fantastic and completely honest with me.

The ladies who helped us there are amazing. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. They are doing curbside drop off and pick up all in about 5 mins at the most. You pull up they have a desk outside knock on the door someone came to the door with a mask on. Was told to fill out paperwork and wait in my car. They came out got my puppy took him inside gave him his first round of shots heartworm, clipped his nails and chipped him for 19.0$ Came back out in under 5 minutes with a smiling puppy. I highly recommend this place as the people are amazing and so was the price. 10 STARS

The people who work there really care about the animals and the Vet was great with Bruno. He wasn't afraid at all to go back and visit. He worked the room greated new people who were there for the first time and even though Bruno is a large pit mix he was so happy and friendly the family was not afraid of him and neither was the small toddler.

Feels like our dog was stolen from us. Last month, my pregnant fiance and I were between moves and having THE WORST luck with everything. Our dog got loose quite a bit in the Brooktrails area. He was very curious, sneaky and clever. We believe he was following the scent of a female in heat.. With us in our trailer, he would dig himself out of the yard, he broke our runner, even got loose from our trailer when we weren't home. We always found him though. The shelter got him twice, but this second time we struggled getting from brooktrails to Ukiah because our truck was on its last leg. The fuel pump went out, the starter went out, our battery died on the way there at the Redwood Valley gas station, finally our driveline snapped at our new place and we finally traded it out a week ago. Long story short, we couldn't afford the $400 to get him on the 10th day and he became their dog. He was scheduled for the following Tuesday at 1:30 to be neutered. We called consistently and reassured them we'd be in the following week after his surgery to purchase him back. That's the weekend our driveline snapped. We called on Thursday and they informed me our dog was adopted out Tuesday. In a matter of 3 hours they had adopted him out.? We loved our dog. We had him since he was 6 weeks old. Way too early so he is very emotionally dependent, but the seller was getting rid of him none the less and we knew how to handle a pup so young. He was never neglected as I presume the shelter may have thought.

I was terrified when I realized my furbaby was missing. Thankfully the good people at the animal shelter scanned his chip and reunited us right away. The facility was very clean and everyone was very polite.

The staff was friendly and went out of their way to take care of my dogs and answer all of my questions when they went in to be spayed/neutered. I often go in to volunteer and the facility is always clean and the animals well cared for.

What a well run clean shelter. We got some dogs and cats from them so they could house more animals displaced by the Carr and Lake County fires. Dedicated staff serving the Mendocino community

The staff here is amazing! If you think, "I can't go there, it breaks my heart," about our Shelter you're mistaken. The staff and volunteers are doing so much for so many animals and people. In addition to all the care and addressing medical needs on site they arr socializing animals, finding them forever homes and returning them to owners. Need a little pet therapy to brighten your day and that of a fuzzy friend then go get some pet therapy. Play with a cat, walk a dog, sit in the puppy yard with a short four legger. This is a "no kill shelter". Please, adopt, foster and/or volunteer to help make a difference.

Was denied adopting a dog because im from canada could have given the poor pup a wonderful life roaming the forest with me everyday (im a tree planter by trade) the only reason she could give was that the dog wasnt fully vaccinated even though i had plenty of time to vaccinate him before i go back to canada I honestly think they just profiled me wouldnt anyone who got the dog need to get the shots? This puppy is stilll in the shelter where he is at a higher risk of parvo then he would have been with me disgusted with this shelter.

The staff is extremely rude and racist for no reason at all. They are incompetent and don't keep their animals clean. Do not adopt from this shelter.

I called to see if they had my lost kitten that didn't make it home for over 2 weeks i wanted to know if they had a black cat /kitten with a purple flea collar on it . They said that they didn't know if they did have one that I would have to come in and see for myself . What are these people getting paid 2 do what ? they don't even know if they have a black cat or not very sad since they are there not me

They basically mocked my wife and acted like they were doing her a huge favor even talking with her. They didn't even acknowledge the family outside the door looking to adopt a pet-which is what they are supposed to be doing there.
