How not helpful can you be? Not only one person and fortunately not everyone. Staff really is great to explain California State Law at the self check out for alcohol. How about you take a page out of Raley’s playbook and help with the check out instead of explaining the law and obviously enjoying jerking your customers around? Arrogant and condescending. Awful.Shoppers go to Raley’s or Savemart if you like to be treated with respect.

We had a large purchase and Adam had so much patience, enthusiasm and was so kind. We could not stop talking about how amazing his customer service was on our way home. The young lady who bagged our groceries with Adam was so friendly. We will ONLY go to Adam’s line. Five stars is not enough!!!!!

Great store! Clean, well organized, well stocked. I visited this Safeway about 7:30 PM on a Tuesday evening. I hesitated to shop at this time of day for fear that what I needed would be gone off the shelves. I was so pleased to find every item on my list! I am a huge fan of the Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses so I headed there first. The darling young woman who helped me was pleasant and energetic and cheerful. The bakery items looked inviting and delicious! The floral department had a great selection of cut flowers as well as beautiful arrangements. And lots of fun balloons! Produce looked so fresh and well stocked. The strawberries were sweet and juicy. We made shortcake with the bakery angel food cake. The grab and go section had lots of appealing options too. I was excited to find the chocolate hummus I love! Also, oftentimes checkout lines are very time consuming at Safeway, but I was able to get a self checkout quickly and be on my way. All in all I liked this store!

The store layout is organized and easy to navigate, making it simple to find everything on my shopping list. This is one of the better stocked Safeway. Their bakery goods are always really good. Their produce is usually fully stocked and good quality. Meat department is well stocked and really nice people. Their deli is really good and the people are really nice also. I'm used to shopping at the one at South Lake and this one is 10000 times BETTER

One of the worst Safeways I’ve ever been in. The entire deli staff was so rude and kept taking other people ahead of us who got in line after us, completely blew us off, then when we finally got help some lady made the worst sandwich we’ve ever had made, she didn’t listen to us at all. Will never return here. Should have listened to the other reviews.

Incompetent BakerThere's always empty spots on the shelves product missing. Lots of mistakes I just purchased a pie with no pan it was a disaster. There's never enough donuts, they don't bake off the afternoon bread like they're supposed to, it seems like everytime you want something the bakery doesn't have it in stock. I used to be a head Baker for Safeway and I know that this is unacceptable. Not only did they not have a replacement pie I wasted gas driving back to the return the one with no pan only to leave empty-handed all I got was my money refunded when really I just wanted a pie. Looks like I'll be taking my business elsewhere when it comes to baked goods because this Baker is useless.Update.....Gave the incompetent staff an entire week to order and bake off another cherry the box said cherry the labels all said cherry however I ended up with a mixed berry. I had brought the pie to a work function and everybody was let down because we were all expecting a cherry pie. From no pie plate to putting the wrong pies in the wrong boxes and selling people what they don't want. It would be nice if they could get some competent peopleThe dairy department is lacking the milk is always sold out barely in stock or expired. It seems like you go in and everything is dated that day or previous days which means that is no good good luck finding eggs because they're never in stock

Over crowded and under staffed. What little staff is available is not great at their job. The checker I encountered today didn't even know what a rain check is. Great place to go if you like spending too much and have time to kill.

Today 10/15/23, I went to the store to get an item and they said that it was out of stock but it was available online. I did my order online and I even pay a fee to get it within an hour because it was available. All of the sudden they cancel my order without telling me anything “why”, so I went to self-checkout and ask why. First they were saying that they canceled it “for me” because it was over the purchase limit. (There’s was no LIMIT online) before I spoke with a manager, the employee who help me was laughing about it with another employee at customer service desk. I hope she wets better attitude with customers. Management told me that I have to call in the morning to place a special order, because it was on sale and was when everyone “just buy the item” what a rude comment coming from her. Anyways, corporate should fix this on their online items.

This is our favorite grocery store in Truckee. Good selection. They are almost always busy when we go, even very late at night, so be prepared for a decent wait in line. I would score them 5 stars if they employed more checkers to shorten the lines, especially on holiday weekends and Friday nights. I have observed for a few years in a row now that they still form long lines and have unstaffed checkstands on peak weekends. Plan accordingly for a long wait in line.

I always stop by for food when come to Truckee. Today I purchased a cabbage at 1.29 per lb but the self checkout charged me at 1.79 per lb. The supervisor was kind enough to refund the difference, but didn't see him adjust the system. I will pay attention of the prices of the produce from now on.

Nice Store but they need more checkers. Employee turnover is very high so something is amiss. Please treat your staff well, always respond quickly & positively if there is an issue so it can be ironed out before loosing another worker. Maybe consider calling former workers back to work apologizing for whatever occurred. It's costly to train & hire new staff all the time. This is probably the majority of the reason this Safeway is SO SO expensive. It certainly sets them apart from other businesses. Nowhere in Truckee has this high of a turnover. It's best to shop very very early in the morning when there isn't stuff on the floors like there's been lately and you can always get a shopping cart.

We went to Starbucks and the lady up front wasnt even greeting anyone and rude plus I ordered 2 bacon gouda sandwiches and the bacon was burnt along with the bread and the egg was so cold that we coukdnt even eat. Horrible experience will never stop here agin

I can't say enough about the great service last night as I discovered I'd lost my Apple cell phone while shopping at rhe impressive Safeway store in Donner Lake, California. It turns out I left it in the top shelf of my shopping cart. And luckily the very honest cart ranger saw it and turned it in to Jeanna the night manager. My daughter thought to call my phone and sure enough Jeanna saw the call and answered it. Me and my phone were reunited in ten minutes!I returned to the store today to drop a small reward on both of them but they refused to accept my gift. I thanked them profusely and met and thanked JL the store manager. In just two shopping trips to that store I've had great service from everyone and specific stories of extra nice help in the seafood department, in produce, and at checkout. Great work that's really appreciated

Nothing like being disrespected by safeway! I waited in line for 40 minutes to checkout.Seems it would make sense to open all registers and properly staff the checkout lines. Customers bagging their own groceries. 3 out of 7 open lanes.

This is strictly for starbucks! Horrible service and drinks! The tall Hispanic man is rude! Never in my life have I experience this type of service with starbucks. I ordered a total of 8 drinks. 6 out of the 8 were messed up. The baristas seemed lost and no knowledge of how to make drinks, my drinks were simple too! Staff seemed to be all over the place.

Biggest downfalls are that there are usually HUGE lines , the staff seem stressed, the store is a bit disorganized and could use a sweep.The front end has had lines that were down the aisles which went halfway to the back of the store .Customer service representatives could use some training . There were 5-6 staff behind the counter yet only one staff was actually helping customers..

Your typical large grocery chain store but this place is seemingly always packed. The crowds are especially awful during holidays and winter.The parking lot is equally a mess.At least they have self-check lines.

Ridiculous lines. I don't know why I ever try to go there. There were only 4 cashiers open and the lines were headed to the back of the store. And the self check line was no better. There were 18 people in line. There are other grocery stores in Truckee and they are nowhere as busy. I know because I walked out of Safeway and went elsewhere.

This is a fairly normal Safeway. When we were there the lines were all very long, but the self checkout lines were shorter. Just be aware that this may be the case during peak ski season!

I've never felt happier to just be in a Safeway. My wife and I were caught in the storm on New Year's Eve. We thought we might need to sleep in our car on the side of the road near Donner Pass. I bought boots and blankets here and there is a Tesla Supercharger in the back lot. It was a little safe haven for us after the most intense and stressful drive I've ever had.

I shop here regularly and the store is alright. Decent selection, kind of a strange layout, decent prices for the area. Had kind of a bizarre, 2022 version of a Franz Kafka type moment at the pharmacy the other day though that left me kind of puzzled. Like many people, I don’t currently have health insurance and use Good Rx. The pharmacy technician handling my medications (mental health maintenance meds 😎) kind of made a point to remark to her coworker helping her “how do we even make money off of these Good Rx’s?!”. I was, for a second, mildly insulted. But then the confusion overtook me. Do pharmacy technicians get profit share at Safeway? Commission? I just wonder what the motivation was behind her saying that. Weird as hell to hear someone say that in front of me. But anyways, so the staff is friendly and helpful, albeit I end up waiting in line for like 40 minutes every time I go there so with that and the weirdo at the pharmacy, I’d leave it at three stars. But they automatically gain a star because I can buy booze at like 2am.

Store is small and the aisles are small too which makes it more crowded with people. Very long checkout lines and only 2 checkers. We ended up using self checkout with our cart full of groceries to be able to go on about our day.

Bearded gentleman at self-checkout was awesome but he's gone now, the in-store Starbucks is now much better staffed.
