This Ace Hardware is not your typical Ace. It is larger than any Ace in the San Francisco Bay Area. Its sells just about everything you need to build, decorate, clean, or repair a house, dress and play a sport, or work with your hands. It has a full paint department, auto parts, fishing, ammo, and gardening areas.Nice selection of mountain home/cabin decor for purchase. Good selection of brand name clothing, shoes, and accessories for the whole family. And high quality, tasteful Tahoe and Truckee decor and souvenirs to bring home or buy for friends and family.Huge parking lot. Another great store to find ski and winter sports clothing and equipment for the whole family (women, men, children, including toddlers).Good sales and after season sales when they happen.Staff is helpful and does make great recommendations.

They have just about everything, from home improvements, construction materials to camping & Fishing...... It's almost the everything store. It's amazing how much stuff is in one store. You have to love a local Ace Hardware. You guys obviously know your customers needs. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The best thing here is super helpful staff. Prices are a notch or two higher than the big box stores, but Ace is a lot more convenient than driving to Reno. This is my first stop when I need any hardware related items or tools. They also sell a small selection of dishware, housewares, and clothing. There is a seasonal department where you can find decorative items. My last visit I was able to get a new ignitor part for my furnace for about $55, which saved me from calling an emergency dispatch to repair it for me, saving me about $100+ and a few hours if my time less waiting around. I love it when they ask me if they can help me find something. Usually they have exactly what I need.

Grateful kudos to lovely Lynn, the most attentive, personable employee who actually took time to both check in the back for a first requested item not on the floor, then to direct me to a possible other, and to personally walk me to where I needed to be for further consideration. For other desired items, and with so many staff on the floor schmoozing with friends, each other, or simply nonchalant to misdirect me saying "it should be there or there"-and items weren't "there", Lynn was the only one to provide proper customer service. Also, many items are not priced. This was a very different ACE experience from any other I've visited. This polite, long time member wishes a closer growth to heart for this store's staff. 💜

After years of having good customer service at Ace Hardware on Donner Pass Road, any other ace hardware in Truckee and the one in Incline, I will not shop at Ace Hardware Donner Pass Rd in Truckee again.due to severely poor customer service from Whitney on Nov 9th 2023.Whitney couldn't be frostier. She relayed only negative information in a negative tone regarding an exchange. I already knew the policy and I already had the products to exchange on the counter.

Incredible. Not just your ordinary hardware store. It’s like a mountain Department Store! The clothing is exceptional here and if you are a fisher person they’ve got your goods. Oh yeah—also everything under the sun for mountain recreation, household, home repairs, and even lumber.

Awesome spot and so convenient for us to get just about anything without going to Reno! It's no wonder we call it "Mountain Macy's" lolI just bought a grill from Mtn Hardware, and it was an amazing experience! They assembled it and delivered it for free! They even brought it up to my 2nd story condo. I ordered a propane tank with it, and they filled it for free. They even hooked up the tank and gave me a few pointers. I was really impressed and so appreciated the help.Tried it out tonight, even in the rain, and it was great! Thanks, Mtn Hardware, Truckee!

An awesome employee-owned local institution. They’ve helped me when I needed to buy a ladder, or replace one missing nut on a folding shovel, or pick up fly fishing tackle for the local waters. There is so much good stuff packed into a small space, it’s hard to believe you could walk in here and not find something you need.Tony and Cole in the fishing department are fantastic. There’s a report up on the whiteboard with information on the local waters, which is always worth checking out, and all the gear you could need. Stop by and you won’t regret it!

I have been a customer a long time, and I get the pricing being in Tahoe, and all they do to cater to the tourist, but when it comes to the ACE warranty, I have had a couple negative experiences where the staff want to fight the terms of their warranty.This time around I had a water line seal go bad under my sink, and so I went to swap it, and the staff ignored the warranty and made me pay after I addressed the warranty. I wasn’t in the mood to fight it like I have in the past, so I just paid the $10. I want to support local, but not if you don’t stand behind your product and warranty attached to the product. Good news is that Home Depot is almost as close to my home, so I’ll be headed there, as they are way more willing to stand behind their warranty and products.Sincerely,A former loyal customer

A top hardware store in any town, any where. Terrific group of mountain people serving a mountain town. Love every visit! Not much they don't have. Fishing supplies are better stocked and served than most stand alone fly shops. They keep the doors open when everything else in town is closed.

This is the coolest hardware store I've been in ! They have something for everyone! From cooking stuff to light fixtures! Wife would be happy while you shopped for what you need to fix the house. The service was amazing! You can't go wrong here. It's really really cool

I'm pretty sure they have everything you could think of needing to fix your house, go fishing, stay warm, enjoy the water, move snow, etc. Pretty impressive what they fit in the store. Only negative is the prices are more expensive than in Reno/Auburn/Grass Valley.

Visited this shop once during our holiday to Soda Springs. The store staff was really helpful and attentive. Not pushy, helpful advice and somehow gave a warm and collaborative feeling seldom found at other stores. They didn't try to upsell me, I was looking for a new pair of shoes cuz my soles were falling out and while they explained the types of shoes they had really clearly they also suggested their shoe glue as an option and took time to figure out what the shoe glue instructions meant for me without my asking. (In the end I got both!) Quite a gem of a shop that is rare today where most shops are hyper commercialised and staffed by underpaid staff who don't care much.

When will I learn! Mountain Hardware has a friendly and helpful staff, good selection of products, but grossly inflated prices. I started shopping at Mountain Hardware 20 years ago and generally try to avoid it. I typically drive to Home Depot in Reno for anything over $20, but thought I would check Mountain Hardware. My mistake.I needed 10 feet of 250 volt Romex wire. A spool of 250 feet was $450, less than $2 per foot. At checkout, my 10 feet was $60, $6 per foot! I feel violated yet again!Sorry to be so bitter. I hate feeling like I have been taken advantage of. From earlier experience in this store, I can only say this is my own fault. I plan to never set foot in this store again.

Cute place, just went in to get an inexpensive soft-sided cooler. None of the prices listed were remotely correct and the employee “helping” me was complaining to her co-workers that I asked her to look up prices. I mean, girl, if it says $12 and is really $22 that may affect a customers decision? Honestly this is why people shop at Walmart, and I hate Walmart…

Fantastic assortment and variety in all departments, better hardware selection than Home Depot. In 20 years, they have had every strange and rare part I've needed, except one... and they are great about ordering if they don't have it! Great paint department too.In addition, they carry all kinds of unique items for they whole house, from kitchen to bath to decorating to games and clothing and sports gear. Their fishing department is well stocked with all the local favorites (flies, lures, etc.).For a little mountain town hardware store, their prices are comparable to the big city and big box stores for most things. This is my home away from home.

When you ask for regular sugar good old fashioned white sugar with your ice tea and they bring you this instead 3 little packages that's what I call service!Not too mention 5 star food and drinks with a wonderful and warm atmosphere.👏
