Maxim the best. He has tons of skills and absolutely brilliant for us. I like that he using military Soviet methods with training that our Doberman puppy understands very well.Strongly recommend if you want to get results fast for working breads.

I recently rescued a new family member, Simone, who had a unique personality and a difficult past. After doing extensive research, I chose Topanga Pet Resort to provide Simone with the specialized training she needed to learn commands and regain her trust in people.I am extremely satisfied with my experience there. The training not only helped Simone but also educated me on how to maintain her training and communicate effectively with her. I realized that every detail counts and my participation as an owner is critical.I would like to extend my special thanks to Maxim for his patience in answering all my questions and providing me with the knowledge and practical training that I couldn't have found elsewhere. Thanks to Topanga Pet Resort and Maxim, Simone has gained the confidence she needed, and I highly recommend them for their exceptional services.

Sadly since the ownership change, TPR went from the best boarding facility I had found in the LA area to one focused primarily on profit. On my dog's last (and final) stay he came home bleeding profusely from his chin, which the staff did not mention and must have been entirely unaware of, despite the fact I had specifically requested monitoring for another cut of his - it left blood all over our floors at home and surely bled all over the kennel. It saddens me to think he was not given medical attention or perhaps any attention. This was after zero responsiveness for over 2 days not answering their phones or emails.I tried to express these concerns on email rather than google reviews, but was entirely ignored so warning others here. The original ownership gave family like care and attention to the dogs, sadly now there is more of a focus on breeding exotic cats (why?) and repeatedly pushing $80 washes at pickup. I continued to board my dog here for about a year following the change and some of my concerns were quelled by quality staff members such as Michael and a couple of handlers who stayed over from the previous regime, but unfortunately the majority of the new staff are seemingly disinterested eastern europeans who don't even look up from their computer when you walk in the door. Most of the 5 star reviews are surely from the previous ownership's regime or via new management's advertised discount for leaving 5 stars on the front desk - I I recommend looking elsewhere.

Having completed a 2-day internship at Topanga Pet Resort, I must share with you important and very sad information about the TPR. If you treat your dog as your "child" and want close attention or individual attention to your pet (there is no talk of training or training any dog), then I strongly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.1. The premises are in dire need of purchasing consumable or quickly worn out materials, bedding and diapers, of which there is an trivial amount. In particular, all the rugs are chewed off, they are only enough for small dogs! No new rugs were purchased, old ones are constantly washed in the washing machine 200 times until they are completely worn out! According to employees, management has no plans to purchase them. There is an unspoken rule that each dog is given one piece of bedding, but what size is not the management’s business. Many large dogs lie on the bare floor because they cannot fit on a smaller mat (most kennels have a wooden bed). I agree that for large and long-haired breeds of dogs, this is not a problem. But for short-haired dogs, it is not clear what to lie on at night. In addition, a dog, especially a girl, can catch a cold if there is a draft in the enclosure. Employees know about these problems, management too.Separately, I would like to tell you about one magnificent German Shepherd dog. Since he chews and stains rugs with his natural needs, the staff decides not to put any bedding in his enclosure, depriving him of any comfort or pleasure. But whether this is normal, I think the owner should decide.2. Owners of aggressive dogs know that only an experienced handler can walk your dog because the dog can bite inexperienced employees. One Mastiff waited for a dog handler for 2 days. No one walked with him. Can you imagine? The dog sits in the enclosure for so long. What condition will it have? Maybe management also considers this the norm…3. During high season, do not expect special attention for your dog since there simply will not be enough employees for the huge number of dogs (83 + 12 new arrivals, during the days of my internship). Only the necessary needs will be met. For newly arrived dogs, being in such a hotel is a lot of stress. They need time to adapt. Fear and the words “Mom, dad, take me home quickly! Why did you send me here?” can be seen in their eyes.In many comments I saw reviews: “My dog came tired, but happy!” She is “tired” because the constant barking of other dogs and fear leaves mental trauma for her. She is “happy” because you’re finally taking her home. This is punishment, not overexposure! To be clear about the standards of TPR, your dog is always fed in accordance with your instructions, walked, kept in a clean dog enclosure/cage, dirty cages are cleaned daily, all enclosures are thoroughly cleaned on Saturdays, and there is always plenty of clean drinking water. workers strictly monitor this procedure, so in general, the staff is competent.P.S. this review was not written without reason; there are evidence, photos and videos of some of the wards.

These people are not good trainers and I believe are dishonest. They failed to train my pet and WILL NOT own up to that failure. They also did not complete the training contract AND will not own up to it. Look at their web page, you cannot leave a review, they only post positive reviews, which are probably friends. Do not trust these people, never give them your money. They are not worth it!!! Go there at your own risk!!!No problem. Responding to TPR.March/06/2023, date the so-called contract was signed. So called trainer Maxim Basyr, trainer Becca... something. My dog, American Staffordshire Pitbull Terrier. I was a customer(sucker), I am not a competitor. I'm sure your competitors actually train dogs! Did I mention the unclean facilities? You can feel the bacteria in the general population water bowls...ick!My dog picked up a parasite there, Giardia. It cost me close to $500 bucks to treat him.I reiterate, do not waste your money here($1,000.00/week!)or your pets health.I stand by my statement.Update response.Well, now TPR is shoveling it thick. You knew I lived far away, and YOU said he would be fine staying in your boarding kennels and that I only needed to come in for my training on Saturday when I picked him up. You did not talk to me about being involved with the daily training because YOU knew I lived over 60 miles away. If I could've been there daily, I would not have paid for boarding. That's a lie!YOU assured me he could be trained to understand and respond to 18 commands at the end of four weeks. His breed was NOT mentioned as a possible problem. You said : "at the end of four weeks, he would be obedient." Another lie. YOU ARE NOW saying he would need more training. Then why did YOU only apply three weeks of the four weeks I paid for? Rico got a parasite at your facility. It took him six weeks(and$500) to get well. He had to stay away at your demand. That's when YOU stopped communicating with me. I called you, and you promised private lessons, and YOU said you'd get back to me, and YOU never did. In court, you said you tried to call. Lie! I have an answering service. You never called and left a message. I still think this was a breach of contract. Judge thought differently.Bottom line, you taught him to follow pieces of hotdogs. You said he would be a different dog and would respond to me. You didn't say only if I carry hotdogs. All of this is bull. Rico was not, repeat, not trained. Don't try to blame this on me. I was available, and you knew I lived far away. YOU failed to complete the training. And now you say I'm welcome to come back and PAY you for more training. Funny.

Favorite place for my dog. Each time super excited to go there. I have a small yorkie, 8 years old and I’m glad he has some exercise during the day and he can play with his friends instead of sitting alone at home.

Place feels like it has fallen apart - would be curious to know what others are experiencing since the ownership change. We usually leave our 2 dogs here when we go out of town - but lately it's felt like 'chaos' whenever we call to get an update. Employees answering the phone seem 'confused' when we are trying to get information of how the dogs are generally doing .. worst part is on this last visit .. one dog was left with 5 weeks worth of food and the other dog with 3 weeks worth of food to make sure they didn't run low during their 15 nights stay.Somehow they both ran out of food after 10 days. Literally impossible.. then TPR switched the dogs to their in-house food without notice. They told us on the day of pick up they called to get authorization and neither my wife nor I received a call (nor would we have authorized it-- we would of had a friend drop off food if it was low).. on top of that - We also sent an email during the stay to see how they were doing and they didn't have any issues nor was a low food issue mentioned. Now we're dealing with 2 dogs having diarrhea from the abrupt food change.Professionalism is 0/10Trust 0/10Value 0/10

Needed to leave my large dog there for over a week because of an emergency. They were able to evaluate her and take her in on the same day which was a relief. However, this is a no frills, no update messages, no update photos, no web camera place. She came home happy enough, but I will not be using them again for boarding.

My experience with Topanga Pet Resort was HORRIBLE!!  I tried to speak with the owners before I wrote this review but they refused to  return my calls.   ONE DAY into my 8 day vacation Topanga Pet Resort called at 6a.m. and told me that I needed to pick up my dogs, they could not take care of them.  I was in Hawaii!!  I had no one to watch my dogs which was why I was boarding them!   Several hours and lots of money later, I got my dogs home.  This is an expensive kennel.  I thought my dogs would be cared for but the manager and the staff are not trained properly.   My dogs were scared and needed a little time to adjust to this new place and no one wanted to take the time to calm or comfort them.    Slam them into a cage and if they bark or growl send them home.  Too many dogs and not enough staff?  The owners do not seem to care about my experience.

We have two dogs who have been to the resort many times. Originally one of our dogs was not comfortable being in the group population for play so he was in the VIP area until he was able to play well with the other dogs. They handled his transition beautifully. It is a wonderful place and our dogs always come home happy and in perfect health. They always get really excited as we approach the resort in our car. We love the caring staff and how much love and attention they give each dog. We recommend it highly!

I've been taking my dogs here for years. The staff is fantastic, and so loving with the dogs. My current dog loves it here. Although I miss her terribly when I'm away, it makes me feel less anxious having to board her when I travel, knowing how well she'll be treated. I don't even live in Topanga anymore, but I make the longer trip so she keep coming here. I strongly recommend this place.

Love this place. I started taking my dogs here when I lived in Topanga many years ago. Now years and years later we drive out 40 mins to take our new 2 year old pups here and they love it to!! Since we are a quite a drive we have tried others near but we know they are in the best hands with Topanga Pet Resort. Thanks guys, for the great care and piece of mind while we are away!

I dropped off my 4 month old German Shepherd puppy Bahco at this facility for the 6 week basic obedience/advanced off-leash training and the results were well worth it. My dog didn't have any bad behaviors but definitely wouldn't come when called and would half listen to me when I asked him to sit or lay down. After the team at Topanga got their hands on him, he is at now 6 months and is a completely different dog. And I mean that in strictly the discipline and obedience part of him. He went in my loving dog and came out that same fun excited puppy. But now will listen to me! You can tell they absolutely care about the dogs here and go the extra mile. I definitely will be using them again if I need someone I can trust to watch Bahco for me!

Our pup is a very active/physical dog. I wanted a big indoor/outdoor space where she can really stretch her legs and run free. This is the place. It's in the Topanga Canyon nestled in the middle of nowhere – miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The dogs have ample space for running and frolicking around outdoors in a country setting. I like that she isn't cooped up indoors all day like at many other daycare/boarding places where the dogs just roam around smelling each other’s butts . We have been taking her to TRP for over a decade. We are always pleased with the attention the staff gives to her. Everyone is so nice and caring. The handlers all love the dogs they look after, and the dogs respect them. Although we don’t get to take her there as often as we like (it’s so far from where we live), it is always our first choice for extended stays. If we are on vacation, then our dog gets to vacation too at TPR! They always recognize our dog and greet her by name. She gets so excited to go. Once we start weaving our way through the canyon to get there, she starts to pace in the backseat of the car and can hardly contain herself. We love knowing that she's having a blast and it’s great knowing that she is in such good hands while we are away.

This place seems really great! Had an interview for my dog to see how well he would adjust. I was impressed by the staff not only because they know their stuff but because they really care for the dogs. We've checked out a few other places but I think this is the place for me and my Hulk!

Topanga Pet Resort takes such wonderful care of the dogs! They do an initial assessment with other dogs to make sure everyone gets along. The dogs get to play outside nearly all day--big dogs with big dogs and little dogs with little dogs. Each dog gets their own climate-controlled run at night with plenty of space and nice, soft bedding. Our trainer, Christophe, had my difficult rescue dog eating out of his hand (instead of biting it off!) in just a few sessions! I love this place, and you will too.

Great boarding facility. Kind, knowledgeable handlers and patient, helpful office staff. We left my mom's Labrador Pepe there for nearly a month over this last Christmas/New Year holiday and he was calmer and happier than we've ever seen him after a boarding stay. Thank you Topanga Woof staff!

My dog stayed at the pet resort for 5 weeks this summer, when I came all thrilled and impatient to see and get my dog back home , the person at the office told us to come back in an hour as she was going to close for lunch hour.I had driven all the way up to Topanga on the morning the pick up was planned and I had to drive all the way down to wait for an hour . Then I finally got back to the office, and I got a long speech about how it was my fault. I payed 2600 dollars and no one told me anything about the stay of my dog and how it went. I was really very disappointed by this lack of empathy.

Great place. Our very challenging (but charming) malinois had all sorts of fear aggression issues before we started boarding her here... she's now much more confident and gets excited as soon as we turn onto Old Topanga!

The facility is ok, it was clean and a couple of the staff members were very friendly... But the woman in front was unpleasant and clearly had issue with our dog from the start. During the "meet and greet" she said our 2 year old dog acted too much like a puppy. OK. He's a boxer/pit mix and has a lot of energy and loves to play. We then found out they just let all the dogs roam in a large area and all the dogs means 40-50 dogs basically unsupervised for hours during the day. They wanted an additional $50 a day because he would need to be closely monitored.Sorry I don't know her name because she never even introduced herself to us but even after all that we still wanted to see the facility which the nice employee did offer to show but before we could Ms unpleasant just said I'll get your dog so you can go.. so we left and will not be going back.

Thank goodness for everyone at TPR - So Caring and conscientious - It feels as if I’m dropping my dog off at play camp... He always seems to want to stay a little longer when ever we get back to pick him up. So grateful for their care!
