I had come into the store a couple of times before actually buying my aquarium and the staff has always been so helpful. No matter who I talk to they are always so patient with the questions that I asked. Throughout the whole process of me buying my aquarium I feel like I can go to them for all of my fish/coral needs.

Very nice place to start having your first aquarium at home...Lots of choices..!!Small , big , plain black or colorful too..Including salt water specimens...A Beautiful way to start a ecosystem at home giving a great hobbie and something to talk with your family and friends...I have it before .. A will look for something for my daughter too , very soon I hope..The only thing I can say is that it NEEDS a better way to keep the tanks and also the pathways clean...So everyone can enjoy this...I will looking forward to come back and please make sure when I bring more people with me.. don't let us down...Thank you guys...Wish you the best. ..

The store has lots and lots of beautiful sea life displayed and staff members who are very friendly and ready to help you with your needs. The only thing the store needs is full attention on every angle, ASAP. If the company can hire someone to clean the store 2-3 days a week, they'd be on track. 🙂👍

Thought it was me until I read some of the comments, but wow!!!! Tats younger son with the skullet is one rude dude!!! Nothing like his mom and dad . Not too sure how they have him at the front counter dealing with people LOL 😂😂No I gave a compliment on how beautiful your salt water tanks were and not even a thank you or even a acknowledgement!

I thought the owner didn't like me for some reason. I can climb down my pedestal now, he doesn't like anyone. No greeting, no big deal. I had to interrupt his conversation with one of his employees (I apologized for it when I shouldn't have) to get service and he acted like I ruined his whole day. The worst part? I went back twice more and it happened every time. No greeting, and when I asked for help an eye roll or deep sigh. My family and I were always in your store in Ventura.We were always treated so well! I was so happy to know you were here in T.O ! It hurts my heart to say I won't be going back. Now I have to settle for big box stores instead of giving my money to a locally owned business.

This store is great! The staff are helpful and informative. Derek gave great customer service and gave us lots of advice. We are new aquarium owners and of course have lots of questions and concerns. Derek answered each question with ease and gave us many different ideas and options for our tank. We will definitely be coming back!

The owner is just a grumpy annoyed person who obviously hates his job. He's rude and dismissive who does his best to try and talk you out the hobby or buying anything. I went in with a $1500 budget to buy a fish tank and start a hobby with my kids. After 10 mins with this guy he lost all my business. Don't worry buddy, I won't bother you any longer with my business. Took my $ down the street and bought a full set up at your competitor near the dealerships.

We had a great experience here today! Came in with little knowledge about Koi, and left feeling a lot more prepared to care for our fish. Friendly and helpful staff that seemed to genuinely care about what they were doing. We'll be back again soon, and highly recommended

First time and will definitely go back. Nice customer service. Amazing giant clam in the store! I wish I could find one like that for sale. Very helpful and informative employees and they have a lot of information and try to save you money. Very healthy fish and this is my new fish store.

worst customer service. Retail is all about welcoming people either the customer makes a purchase or not. But this older Asian guy never welcomes at least me maybe it’s because I’m Mexican and thinks I got no money to buy supplies or fish? But I have no clue everybody else is cool there! I was a frecuente consumer but now I am not laying a foot in that place anymore.

Bought two fish, the first one died and they replaced it for me. The fish I received has ich and has contaminated the whole tank.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Great selection of fish and aquatic life. Bought a 100 gallon tank here and stand as well. Very pleased with the service and quality of products.

I'm always impressed by the cleanliness and organization of this establishment. Being of Asian background myself like the owner (s), it must be the custom of our upbringing! Selections are in abundance and you'd probably find what you're looking for. I've been going to them even before they were in their present location and have worked with one of the family member.

Family hoped in the car, took the 30 min drive to get there. The website says they close at 800pm. We get there at 700 and we are told we are closed due to the pandemic. Its been a year, change your information or allow the family walking in with a purpose to spend money at your store to shop. Just poor service.

Walked in around lunch time. Circled the entire store twice, closely examined the fish, plants, and food. Not one of the three employees spoke with us until we started out the door.We were the only customers.Tat Tropical Illusion of Ventura may not of had as nice of flooring. However, we never we ignored, even on the busiest of days.

There are two tropical fish stores in my area and TAT Tropical Illusion seemed to be the nicer of the two. I just lost a 15 yr old freshwater Frontosa and am in the process of converting my freshwater tank to a saltwater reef tank. While I am by no means a beginner with both fresh and saltwater tanks, I was looking for direction and advice for setting the tank up.I stopped by the first of the two stores (not this one) and I was greeted by the owner, and after a few minutes, one of the staff asked if i needed help. He was informative and worked with me and my limited knowledge base.Wanting to get the best pricing and service for my needs, I then went to TAT Tropical Illusion.I walked in and the owner was on the phone. He was the only one in the store. I waited almost 15 mins for him to put the person on hold to ask me if I needed help. When i said yes, he got back on the phone and told the person that he would call back. This was not a customer by the non aquatic topics overheard.I explained about what I was doing, and that I was on a budget, etc.... The owner began to tell me everything I MUST have for my 30 gallon tank. His suggestions would cost me 800 to 1500 bucks for a filter, light, skimmer, etc. (agree for top of the line way more power than I need). Needless to say, I decided to make my equipment purchases from the other place.I was able to build my tank for way less than it would have cost me at TAT Tropical Illusion, and with quality equipment. However to give them the benefit of the doubt, I went back with my girlfriend to pick out our first fish.We walked in and the owner was in the middle of the store, did not look up or acknowledge that we had walked in. There were three of four more staff there this time, however no one asked us if we needed help. After checking out the fish for a bit. I girlfriend and I had enough and started to walk out. The owner started to address us, then turned to a staff member and let him know that HE was supposed to help customers. We peaked back in and thanked them for making our new fish store decision easy. We will not be going back there for our tank needs!!!!!For the other store that helped us, gave us water from their tanks to get our tank going, gave us an open line to ask questions, and is still providing the direction I wanted and needed, they will be getting an awesome review!!! The fish are doing great!!!

These guys have been around since I was a kid. Its run by his two sons now、 owners name is Tat、 and they know their stuff. Great people and fairly good prices. I reccomend them for anyone wanting get fish.

Do not recommend this place at all. The guys employees are kinda helpful but the guy that owns it or whatever he does is just a complete grouch and doesn’t ask if you need anything or ask how your doing he just will look at you with a dirty stare and look right back at his phone I can go on and on with the terrible experiences I’ve had but never will go back just all around the worst service.

Tat Tropical Illusion is absolutely one of my favorite fish stores in Ventura County. They have a wide verity of fish, both salt water and fresh water, along with supplies. Always very helpful and knowledgeable!

Unfortunately I did not get a good first impression here. They have a whole wall with a betta rack set up but the bettas are in tiny jars on a shelf below the rack and literally half of them were dead and had been that way for some time. All of their German Rams had ich and some of the Mollies as well. Their cichlids are also extremely expensive for the quality. Seems like they spend their time on the saltwater since that's where the money is and the freshwater is neglected.

THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE horrible. we were there for 15 minutes and no one would talk to us and there was four of them "working". They where to busy talking to each other and no other customers in the store but us. so we left and went to another fish store and spent $100 there.
