Not smaller and definitely not faster. They have some good and different bulk items, but the service is the slowest I’ve seen! They will have lines of 50 people and ALWAYS keep only a single checkout line open. Plan for a long visit, even if you’re just trying to pick up one item real quick!

I went to the Newbury Park location yesterday with my young daughter. We did not have masks but are completely healthy and just need a couple of food items. I had the items in my hand and was at the checkout line when a manager confronted us and stated that we are NOT allowed to buy anything because we were not wearing masks. I said that I do not wear masks as I have a phobia about them from my military history. He then instructed the cashiers to refuse to ring up my items. He called the police to have me removed. I stood patiently at the one register and stated that I was not leaving until I was allowed to pay for my food. The employee said that it was no big deal and he would do so except the manager was a big problem for them. The manager came to me and attempted to forcibly remove the items from my hands. I resisted and he pushed me back with one hand while pulling away the items. He threw the items and damaged them. I later have been advised that since I am a senior citizen that is legally considered assault with jail time for him should I report it further. I asked him for his name and he turned his back to me. I asked to see his nametag and he took it off and put it in his pocket. I took photos of him with my phone. From the glimpse that I saw it looks like his name was David.The police arrived shortly and were very pleasant. The main officer advised that the store is claiming to be a private operation and not selling to the general public. He advised me to sue them civilly. The were in violation of discrimination of me based on the the way I was dressed and/or my appearance. They posted a sign saying to that effect. There is NO law requiring any mask to worn. I asked if They had a sign posted saying "No Mexicans" would that make it acceptable to discriminate against them also? We went to Ralphs and the Vons afterward from there. All that we encountered was a much cleaner and well lit store with very friendly people and no criticisms at all. The manager at the very least should be fired. He has no business dealing with the public. I have never sued anyone but this may be the first time if nothing is done about him.

Decent produce, meat and seafood, lots of family size and bulk stuff, plus everything you need to operate your own restaurant or cook for a huge event. Worth a stop every so often. Good deals and digital coupons.

I live in the neighborhood and have been shopping here for years.Lately, I've noticed the produce section sucks! Wilted, sometimes rotten produce on the shelves.Also, decline in staff attitude. There is one checker I refer to as "frumpy face." She rarely takes the effort to say hello, and is constantly on her phone texting while working. I guess good staff is hard to find these days. I actually will wait in a longer line (of one is open before letting her ring me up).On the other hand, Katrina is the most friendly, smiling, happy checker in the store. I will wait in a longer line for her to check me out. Lol.I hate to leave three stars, but service and fresh produce is an important part of a grocery store experience.

I went to this location as a pit stop to buy a couple of items. When I came up to ask one of the managers as to where to find a specific item, he asked to give my bag to him with all of my valuables. When I entered, there were no signs to enter without any bags and they did not have any safes for personal belongings. I am not sure if this is legal. This interaction left a very bad feeling and made me upset.

The reason for 3 stars is mostly you need to scan your phone for deals...STOP!!!!!!!!!! I DO NOT SHOP RALPHS, ETC..for this reason..SO TRADER JOES GETS OUR MONEY! Finally a store where you can just shop without the UNNECESSARY PRIVATE INVADING APPS! ...ITS FOOD PEOPLE!

Bad place to work. 2 managers got to go. I’ve been yelled at by the senior manager in front of customers, the store manager is breaking the policy thinking he can make his own rules. The store manager even picks on disabled employees. The senior manager bullies new hire. It’s funny how the district manager doesn’t ask any employees why is everyone quitting. I put up with them for 4 years. Now I’m working at a better place with more pay and respect. Worked for 6 years and no raise just getting paid $15.40 an hour. The company is so ridiculous how they pay.
