The staff here is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They gave me great advice for my aquarium.They had a beautiful selection of fish that all looked happy and healthy.The most impressive part is that they took in large goldfish rescued from a pond. That shows me that this place actually cares about the animals and has good ethical values.Many big chain pet stores only care about selling the animals but don't care about them after. They won't rescue fish.

This is actually my favorite place to visit in Westlake Village. I cant not visit and see all the cool fish, and beautiful birds, and of course, who can’t forget Fluffy? They staff is always awesome there, and their new manager is really great. The Owner is so nice, and really loves what he does. Fluffy brings so much love to my hometown 💗Fluffy really feels like a friend, thank you Aquatic Zoo Tropical Fish for bringing him to my growing community.Also, sometimes I like to grab a mushroom tea late from the tea place across the street, and make it a whole event.

A friend gave me a small 15 gallon aquarium. It had all but one part.I called and (I'm terrible with names), but a nice young guy answered the phone and I explained to him my story. I had a few gold fish when I was a child.Long story short, I took my little aquarium in, he filled it to make sure no leaks, sold me a nice setup for the inside, and I bought three exotic fish to start with. He suggested I wait a week to acclimate the tank, then add some more. I wanted to set it up that day, I'm spontaneous and didn't want to wait. He sold me 15 gallons of already treated water so I could set it up that day and even let me borrow his jugs for the day.Looking forward to getting more fish this week. Thanks for the outstanding service.(This picture was right after setting up, so a little cloudy, it was crystal clear the following day).

Gave it several tries...tanks always dirty, floors unswept, employees generally irritated they have to move, and overpriced. Dont waste your time and money, you leave wondering why someone pays to keep the lights on here.

Cool shop that has a lot of cool stuff. It is dirty and poorly presented/organized but that’s not that big of a deal. What is is that you’re not safe asking the staff for help, they’ll knowingly try to sell you extra or more expensive stuff you don’t need under the guise of giving you advice, and imply you should have it. Gross way to treat paying customers.

Please do not ever purchase your saltwater fish from this store. They sold me a Blue Tang and a Fire Angel that has marine velvet which completely wiped out my entire tank. The Owner assured me that the fish was fine but after 2 weeks of the fish being in my tank everything else died with it. Also not to mention they are very pushy and try to sell you things that you do not need. Would highly recommend to stay away as they have a serious water problem and need to have that solved before anyone can have a good experience here.

Had a very pleasant experience with the young man helping on the floor. Very knowledgeable, patient and helpful while I made up my mind on what to get. Manager was a different story. Turns out it was $28 for duckweed and another very small plant. Went to another pet store for variety since they didn't have anything special as far as freshwater fish were concerned ... bought the very same plant for $6. Very disappointed about the gouging when I was trying to support a small business. And his plant died within the week 🤦‍♀️ Nothing here I would make a return trip for sadly except the boys value for good customer service.

I have been here many times and I have always found that it is overpriced, the owner is pushy, and the place is a mess. Most coral looks bleached as well. The fish look alright but as past reviews say, I wouldn’t trust them. I got a couple tetras and it was around 40 bucks. They have a cool tank with some designer shrimp which are awesome but overall, I wouldn’t recommend.

We were gifted a fish & tank and wanted to make sure that we were setting things up properly for our new friend Molly the silver molly. I brought in a sample of water and the younger gentleman tested it for everything and recommended the best products to help get the ammonia/nitrates under control as well as explaining all of the basics for aquarium husbandry that we'd need to get started and help our new friend to thrive.We will absolutely be returning when we're ready to add to our tank!

The owner was very pushy on trying to get a sale. The rest of the staff was really nice. I bought my first fish there and a second one. I’d asked if the second fish was compatible with the first, they’d assured me it was. When I put the two fish together later on, the second fish tried eating the first fish. I’d done research and it turns out that these fish are no longer compatible. So make sure you fact check them before you buy.The main reason why I gave this a one star is because I’m guessing he was the owner, Ken? I called to ask why the first fish was having troubles swimming, gave him symptoms and he literally said “what do you want me to tell you? What do you want me to do about it?” He then told me to bring a water sample to test the water. I don’t live in the area so that isn’t convenient at all for me. I’m very displeased with the service and overall experience. This store will not be getting my business after this.

The store itself has a wide variety to choose from which is nice although prices are pretty steep. Heres my problem... I recently bought a figure 8 puffer from them and in roughly 3 weeks, long story short, the poor guy didn't make it and seemed to have health issues the entire time I had him. I have had this tank and the other species that live inside it for over 3 years now and no other fish in the tank are ill at all so I thought he possibly could have been sick when I purchased him. I called in and was basically told it was my fault. Now I understand anything can happen and I am in no way a "pro" in this hobby and I'm am always looking for extra care tips, but to be blatantly told we cant help you because it's your fault? Lol definitely won't be returning to this store and will be sure to pass along this story if I'm ever asked about this place.

They operate a good business. Kent, the owner went out of his way to order specific fish for me. Fish prices were about 5-25% higher than the Woodland Hills store, but they gave me a super discounts/deal on corals & plants with a large purchase. Overall, very knowledgeable & helpful staff with somewhat steep (not outrageous) prices.

Ken, the owner, is very knowledgeable and kind, always taking my urgent calls, whether in-store on-site, or even on his day off/when outside of store (he'll call you back from outside of store to help!). Very personable and extremely helpful. I own 4 Oscar Fish, which are some of the most notoriously difficult fish to grow, keep healthy and maintain a healthy tank for. He is always patient, listening to and addressing my extensive questions with solutions that help. He's a local business owner, and cares very much about his fish and their welfare. I'm pleased to support him and his business for all the time, care and immediate assistance he regularly provides me, especially in a few emergency situations. Highly recommended, especially as a first time Oscar Fish/120 fish gallon tank owner - ask for Ken - he'll take good care of you, the needs of your fish/tank maintenance, and support your efforts in detail.

I bought my first saltwater set up from Aquatic Zoo about 6 years ago. Since then I have bought bigger tanks and better equipment - always from them. I had no clue how to take care of a saltwater tank when I first got it and they were there for me every step of the way. Whenever I bought a fish elsewhere, I found it didn't do good. I got all my water premixed from them and figured out that getting my fish from them was the way to go since they were already used to the water parameters. They've been servicing my tank also for about 3 years and do a great job. In fact, some of my corals got so big we had to divide them and switch them out with smaller corals. Love this store.

The staff is friendly but the freshwater fish look sick and almost every tank is affected and dirty. Many fish are misidentified or just not listed at all. You can tell very little effort is put into maintaining the freshwater stock. The saltwater section looked better... Prices are high even if the fish looked good. Pass.

You just never know what you're going to find and not skipping on buying it when you discover the greatest finds that's waiting for you to discover! I recently stopped by to see and hear some of their home bred singing canaries that I'm planning to gift myself for my birthday in May 2022. Low and behold, after I went inside to browse at their aquatic tank residents,I came upon one of their commercial size store tank with a 12"+ King Dojo! I've lived in Japan for 5 years and I've never seen one that big! It was a no brainer to buy it. The very helpful salesman, Sergio said that they originally got two of the same size that someone traded in, but, unfortunately, one jumped out during the first night of quarantine. Sometimes it's at those obscure stores that you never know what you're going to find and end up buying. In fact, I'm heading over to there right now before they close at 7 PM! Check them out. I'll do a follow up review in May when I get my new singing canary!

Wouldn’t recommend this place for birds. I bought many Canaries from this guy who couldn’t wait to sell me a sick bird. Last time cost me $225 for 2 sick females that died in a week. Then when i talked to him he says that it’s Mosquitoes that affect the Canaries in my house. Remind you it’s cold out and my birds are inside Unlike his freezing out on the side walk. Plus he is VERY pushy with you buying more. The guy is a complete Thief.

I went there not knowing anything about how to get started on a freshwater tank that I wanted. They guided me through it all, picking the tank, the fish, the food, the chemicals, and how to set it all up. They answered all my questions I had at home through the phone and were very helpful. I would totally recommend if you are wanting to get your first tank!

Upon walking in this place is kinda cluttered but that just goes to show the variety of stuff they have. This place has birds and reptiles and of course fish, both salt and freshwater. The service their is top notch, someone was there able to answer all of my questions and actually knew what he was talking about. I used to go to TATS but that place lacked a good selection and I HATED their customer service. At TATS they always made me feel like I was bugging them even when i was buying $100+!!! Its refreshing to find a LFS with knowledgeable staff, good prices, and the absolute best selection in Ventura County!

I bought a $30 fish that they said was beautiful for my tank.... it was obviously from the Orient,, as anyone knows about fish from there... they get injected with hormones and sold off... the result being the fish loose their color 1 month later.. thats what happened to mine. I tried to contact aquatic zoo with no response. SHAM... over these guys.. over priced anyways.. go elsewhere

DO NOT go to this fish store. These guys are not knowledgable, overpriced, and do not stand behind their products/fish. The owner is very unpleasant to deal and pushy with his sales. Visit another store for your saltwater needs. There are much better stores like Vivid in Canoga Park. Worth the drive to deal with honest and knowledgable people.

I'm new with the fish keeping hobby and the staff were all very helpful. I also like how you can buy a bird and reptiles there. They have these fish tanks what have saltwater fish and coral for the looks not for sale and it makes me want to do the saltwater hobby as well

Walked up when they were closing at 2pm... though the sign and their website said they were open until 6. I felt like I was hassling him by asking if I could look around. The prices were ridiculous. The coral looked less than appealing. Equipment was at least twice as expensive as the worst place online. If I were you, I'd avoid this LFS.
