It was quite an adventure visiting the date farm! The contrast between the rugged journey down the dirt road and the sudden oasis of date palms and facilities is truly striking. And the presence of the Amargosa River adding life and sustenance to the area adds another layer of beauty to the landscape. Its like a hidden gem tucked away in the midst of nature's grandeur.Don't miss out on the baked goods and the date shakes, they are mighty tasty.

After years of camping at Dumont Dunes, we stumbled upon this hidden gem of a date farm thanks to a fellow off-roader. The place is a true oasis in the middle of nowhere. The farm's beauty is matched by its fantastic offerings – from a charming store filled with goodies and trinkets to delightful date shakes, including the amazing vegan options. Our favorite? The coffee date shake, an absolute delight. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this hidden paradise – it's a gorgeous experience overall.

My dad lived in DV for a little and when I visited 10 years ago he brought me here for a date shake! It made such an impression on me that when I was recently in Vegas with my partner, I insisted that we drive out to this spot! Such a gorgeous drive, and a perfect destination! The date shake was just as good as I remembered and I was excited they had a vegan smoothie option which my partner could enjoy! The gift shop is cool as well. Totally recommend a visit!

Never thought I'd ever try a date shake... it was amazingly great! The dates at China Ranch are fantastic... It's definitely an interesting place to visit if you've got the time for a full day trip in a remote location!

Nice area with a few different trails. Definitely don't want to be out there in the summer as it gets extremely hot. The store there has quite a variety of offerings.

Amazing place to visit for several reasons!1) Date Shakes and smoothies!2) Awesome drive down from the main road! Don’t be scared, keep going haha 😂3) If you just visited Tecopa Hot Springs then this is ritual you come here after.4) Unreal nature trail located at the back of the parking lot. Vault toilet, picnic tables, 3 mile trail with awesome geological features including a slot canyon!5) Gem and Mineral shop located in there gift store! Found some great things inside!

Beautiful date farm! The ambiance is fantastic. But we did get scammed on the date shakes. We bought two and they said we didn’t and ended up buying one more. Unfortunate situation. Beautiful place!

Worth the drive from Las Vegas. Beautiful, relaxing, and straightforward drive. It is such a quaint place. Very cool to see the date palm trees. There's a little bit of dirt road but not a rough terrain to go through.Love the little gift shop they have. Had some date shake. Super delicious! We also bought dates from here and it is amazing and flavorful! It's also very nice to be able to support their business. There are places you can hike. Make sure to bring lots of water on hot days! And I have spotted a coyote within their date farm so be watchful.

Great place to go to spend a couple of hours, there is a trail from the farm that's doable in an hour. There is zero shade on the wall but the farm has shade, so grab a date shake and relax in the shade before. The have a bakery here where they make date bread and cakes, and a cafe you can get shakes and coffee. Loads of party and the place does not charge an entry fee.

Great place for all things 'dates'! And a fantastic oasis in the desert! The milkshakes are the true winners here! They are very delicious and great on a warm day!David is really great and very knowledge about the history of dates and the ranch. They offer other goodies too, but my favorite are the cookies. There are also some trails that are part of a national land area, so a great way to spend a cool afternoon.Long drive in the middle of the desert and dirt roads, but definitely worth the trip!

Hosts a trailhead to several nice half day excursions. Begin and end with a date shake or smoothie. Most excellent!

We love the date shakes here. Great place for a nice walk, too. The dates are a healthy sugar alternative. They are actually very yummy.

Always a treat. The date shakes are a must. Every trip we stock up on all our favorite varieties of dates. The hummus plate is new and really good. The trails are great and the gift shop a cool respite on the hottest of days.

Very interesting place. It’s all about dates. Date shakes , honey bakery items.A great place to go n relax. The gift shop is fullOf cute things and reasonably priced. We love the honey and get multiple jars when we visit. There is a trail head the the amergosa valley. A quick walk will take you to a old surveyor cabin, water springs and some awesome views.Even in winter this place gets warm bring water and watch out for the prickle plants along the trails.

Like a cartoon oasis surrounded by true desert. Not even Mormon Tea dares grow ‘round here. First we were blasted by loose sand and violent, hair-dryer winds off the Dumont Dunes. Then we crawled up Amargosa Canyon via the rocailleux Sperry Wash trail. We considered following the river all the way to the farm, but it was officially blocked and likely impassable anyway. We’d still like to try this approach, but we viewed the possible exit from the farm and it looked like a footpath. The rail bridges were torn out so you’d need some alt. way to cross. We suspected China Ranch would be closed since it’s inferno season. To our surprise, they were open and had cold cold brew waiting for us. The staff was delightful. The grounds are quirky and relaxing. You can wander the date palms and imagine you’re in a Sumerian garden. You won’t regret the date shake.

This is amazing place to visit!! China Ranch is beautiful and has a wide variety of fresh dates that are delicious. They serve an amazing date shake with different options along with coffee date drinks. Their gift shop is very unique and I purchased some fun Christmas presents. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. In addition, there are several hiking trails that make a loop to the Armogosa River and include historical sites. By the trailhead, there are also shaded picnic tables to enjoy your food. Altogether, an extremely enjoyable experience!!

Such a hidden treasure in the Mojave. It's so close to Death Valley and has beautiful trails to hike with a dog. Don't let your dog off leash. Rock nettle can get on there fur and is is very had to get off. Someone had to cut the fur to get it off.The store and shakes are amazing. The new date smoothie is even better than the date shake and it can be non-dairy.

What a unique place. Worth the out of the way drive if you are visiting death valley region. Such nice people, very cool funky gift shop with baked goods, snacks, drinks, books, clothes, crystals, jewelry, and more! Quail running around, and some paths to walk on was real cool. Dates were all yummy!

What a wonderful family run operation. Thankfully, its my sister's family. The vanilla date cookie was magical (Thank you Ma Fairbanks for passing down the recipe). It was a bit warm today for much exploring, but I will definitely return for more desert adventures this Fall! Thank you keeping everything up and running! Don't forget the near hotspings for an unforgettable day trip!

This place is out of time! We went there unfortunately after the ranch closed so we couldn’t get dates but the atmosphere is unbelievable. Toilet signs are hilarious! The decorations are awesome. There are many coyotes so watch out for your dogs and never leave them off leash!

Friendly folks run this unique oasis in the desert, and while not the greatest selection, what they do have is quite good. Beautiful scenery and even a couple of hiking trails. Very much worth it.

This places smells wonderful. The store has a bunch of local made items. Everything from clothes to purses to rocks to date bread and cookies that they bake in the store. What a great marketing tactic guys! We had a classic date shake for the first time and we were happy with how good it was. Creamy, light and with a vanilla base and small bits of date which sweeten it just enough. Thank you!

Pack a lunch and plan to spend the whole day. There are gorgeous hikes from the farm - the really easy but beautifully diverse Armagosa River Trail leads to a slot canyon and the Mesa Trail with expansive views of the sunset. Staff at the farm are informative and encourage you to survey the grounds at your leisure. Their are fresh dates and date products for sale including date shakes which are sweet with a subtle date flavor. There are interesting interpretive signs and a Modest Museum. We went back 3 days in a row!

China Ranch is a genuinely beautiful place that is 100% worth the drive if you’re nearby. Their shop is super fun, all of their baked goods are stellar, and they make a coffee infused date shake that is incredible. Their ‘fancy date candies’ (basically date balls in different flavors) are ridiculously good. Love walking through the peaceful date groves, and the hiking trails are fun but can be a bit challenging. We did the trail that goes up on top of the bluffs on the west side above the shop, can’t remember the name, it was a workout but SO worth it for a true panorama of the oasis and surrounding mountains. This is truly a place like no other and shouldn’t be missed if you happen to be in the area.

Nice getaway from Vegas. Pretty drive with little traffic. You will hit a dirt road for the last mile until you reach the date farm. As you step out of your car you will smell the amazing aroma of freshly baked cookies! They are amazing, just buy some. The gift shop is small but cute and has several varieties of fresh dates in a cooler, baked goods, preserves, pickles etc. Neat little rock store for the rockhound out there and a bathroom. The staff is friendly and we're busy making date shakes (I will make room for the next time I go there) and they pointed out the directions to the hiking trail to the slot canyon out back.

So this place was kind of on my bucket list of places to visit they did not disappoint. The people who work there are very personable. Being in the middle of one of the most harshest environments in the world Death valley it is one of the most beautiful places I've seen did not know about the hiking until we arrived but we were able to hike several miles Death valley was a great off the beat path kind of area I highly recommend you visit this when you go to Vegas or passing through.

China Ranch is an absolute paradise-like oasis at the doorstep of Death Valley - I have made it a happy to visit every other month from Vegas. It is easy to find with the signs and on GPS - upon arrival, be sure to take it slow on the steep gravel road near the Ranch. (I have an Elantra and I got through there fine).Don’t worry - they accept debit/credit cards here for all purchases! The date shakes are insanely delicious, as well as some of the baked goods. They have a great selection of southwest, desert themed decor for sale inside the storee, and even though this is very remote everything is reasonably priced. The hikes from the farm are excellent, especially the one south from the parking lot where you pass through a peaceful steam.
