Excellent pizzas, including the option of a decent gluten-free base. The coppa truffle pizza (salami, mushrooms, parmesan, kale and truffle oil was a big hit with my partner and son). Good selection of rotating beers and a lovely atmosphere and great staff. We keep returning to this spot, even when we are staying at a different part of the lake.

Great local tavern in a cozy neighborhood in Tahoma. Pizza is delicious with doughy crust. We also had the wedge salad which was 10/10. Service was good. TVs with sports on. We came with our baby but they had a great bar to belly up to if you are without little ones. We are going back tonight!Parking: Easy parkingKid-friendliness: Very kid friendly with alot of background noise. No changing table in the bathrooms fyi.

Amazing food - super quick and friendly service - Definitely recommend šŸ’•šŸ’•šŸ’•We got their at 4pm and got the salad, burrata, octopus and duck pizza. The burrata is absolutely a must here and the food is so quick we got everything in the blink of eye. Best mea in the states since we got here (we’re asian btw)

Completely blown away. Not the experience you would expect for a pizza joint in strip mall. Spectacular, fresh, and sophisticated food served in a classic laid back Lake Tahoe atmosphere. From the meat and cheese plate to the seafood specialties everything was an explosion of taste. And don’t get me started on how good the pizza is. Could not recommend The Dog and The Bear more.

Came in late before they were set to close just 12m before 9pm originally came in to get pizza but decided to have a drink and sit at the bar. I was scrolling the menu online and stopped at this absolutely delightful and delicious Beef Short Rib Poutine. Good call šŸ¤™šŸ½šŸ¤™šŸ½šŸ”„šŸ”„ The flavors all went well with one another. My service was awesome, Eric took my order and served me promptly after I had some time to look through the beer selections. Food also came out before I finished my beer as well as being hot from the chef who whipped up this dish so perfectly and quickly so thank you chef and thank you Eric! The male host who told me to sit wherever I wanted to was prompt and friendly in the self seating wherever I'd like so thank you too! (next time I'll get your name so I can update this review)The atmosphere was vibrant but everyone was either busy eating their remaining food , drinking a beer or wine, or conversation which is just how a local establishment should feel and sound. For a Thursday night 12min before they closed the vibes felt like a Friday but less crowded than an actual Friday. But the crowds are for all the good reasons though! The Dog & Bear Tavern has food that never ceases to surprise my palate and excite my tastebuds. If you sleep on this place you are actually cheating yourself and your tastebuds.I'll be back before the weekend ends lol.

Scott, our super friendly bartender told us that it was Monday Ramen night. The Ramen with the short rib was full of flavor and toppings. We also had the Fungi pizza which had such a great crunch crust and was also loaded with toppings. This was a great find!

We had Quincy and Amber for our servers. What a phenomenal experience! Second only by the food. Definitely get the Coppa Pizza and the chili chicken wings. The Coppa has a phenomenal flavor profile that you have to try to understand. The wings are yummy, perfect amount of spice.5 star quality, 5 star service and 5 star view to boot ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Like a lot of places in Tahoe, they bring in foreign nationals on work visas, some of who have better English than others. I had a to go order for one large ā€œTwo-Cheeseā€ pizza- a ā€œTwo-Cheeseā€ pizza is what it’s called in the menu. The hostess, who I think was from Argentina or Spain with limited English rang up for two cheese pizzas instead- it doubled the price. I handed her my card and headed to the restroom without noticing. When I returned and went to sign my check I noticed the error. The flustered hostess got the manager who was nothing short of a jerk- seemingly blaming me and promising I’d get my money back for the other pizza. Of course it never came. They have no phone number listed to call for the public and don’t answer emails. They just seem like another Tahoe low customer service profit driven tourist trap.

We had a delicious meal, pizza, hamachi and wine. They even replaced the cheese with goat cheese for me, no problem! I loved the marinara sauce and the chef noticed I was dipping my crust so he sent over his secret honey sauce, yummy! It was a crowded weekend night so a bit loud but that means it's popular! I'd go back if I ever visit Tahoe again.

Well I guess it's unfortunate that I have to write this. First let me say that with the exception of the bartender, the manager and staff seem exceptionally nice, and you can tell they work really hard. This is my second time here and the first time the food was mediocre and the pizza was soggy when you picked it up it basically fell apart like a cheap Domino's Pizza. But no big deal I can eat anything when I'm hungry and this is the only restaurant open on the West Shore. Tonight The two of us ordered two pizzas they're charcuterie board and a mushroom tortellini. The bartender forgot to put in our pizza order. We had already finished our charcuterie board and pasta and been sitting there for almost an hour and the pizza was nowhere in sight. Of course the bartender didn't admit he did anything wrong he just said he'll be up any minute when an actuality the pizza hadn't even started being made yet. So I paid the bill tip the bartender 15%, it's important to remember this is how they make a living so never leave less than 15%. We couldn't wait anymore it would have been an hour now so I just asked him if they could put the pizza in to go boxes and we would go but the pizza was pretty Raw and had just gone in the oven I guess so I just told him that's okay. First time I paid for two pizzas and didn't get it to eat them maybe the cooks can cook them and take them home. If you're curious I know you probably wondering no the bartender never volunteered or asked if he could take the pizzas off the bill it was clear it was the expectation for me to pay for them so I did. He's very arrogant laughed at me in my face turned around and started laughing with his other coworkers at me. I don't know 20 years ago I would have put him in his place but now I'm just an old guy that had a heart attack a couple years ago so I try not to get upset about anything. It's sad because I remember when this place was called Westshore Pizza many years ago and the pizza was fantastic and the place was always so busy. Oh well times have changed, I guess next time it's Red Baron's frozen pizza which is the last resort but still better than my experience the last two times I've eaten here.

The Dog & Bear Tavern in Tahoma, South Lake Tahoe is a charming and cozy establishment that surpassed all of our expectations. With its warm ambiance, friendly staff, and rustic decor, the tavern creates a welcoming environment for all. It stands out by offering a unique combination of sophisticated and indulgent dishes that are rarely found elsewhere, as well as satisfying pizza options that cater to both upscale diners and those seeking a more laid-back experience, making it ideal for families with kids and friends alike. Indulge in the incredible Chef's Charcuterie Board, accompanied by a glass of red wine, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the lake through the surrounding trees. The attentive service and carefully curated drink menu, featuring local beers, wines, and cocktails, further elevate the overall dining experience. Located amidst the scenic beauty of Tahoma, The Dog & Bear Tavern is worth the trip for those seeking a memorable and delectable retreat in South Lake Tahoe.Parking: Good amount of parking.Kid-friendliness: Great options for adults and kids since they have fancy dishes and pizzas (which are also fancy but well priced) that kids will love!

Great beer selection. Millennial vibe in the evening. Our off-menu pizza was delicious. Staff is very accommodating. Good casual date choice.Vegetarian options: Salads and meatless options available. The staff accommodated our off menu requests with ease.Kid-friendliness: Pictures drawn by children on the walls. We were there for late dinner and it was less child forward. Tables would accommodate a family with littles away from the bar.Wheelchair accessibility: In Tahoe, accessibility depends on the weather. There is a designated parking spot next to the entry. A wide entry door allows easy access and tables accommodate wheelchairs easily.

Went here twice during our recent trip. Great service and food. Recommend dining in as the appetizers were definitely better in person than to go, but it will still all very good. No reservations but we didn't have a problem getting there around 5pm. Kale salad and prosciutto pizza were highlights but everything was great!

Delicious pizza! Probably the best crust I’ve ever had. A solid choice is pepperoni.

Great pizzas, our veggie one had castelventrano olives, and great beer. Glad to see a fine local sour on the menu. Also had the delicious roasted corn. service was perfect and quick. Pleasant atmosphere, too. We were there when it opened and it filled immediately. Also love the name!

The unpretentious storefront hides great pizza offerings. We had a large family group, so the staff welcomed us, placing four tables together. When I asked if their homemade sausage was spicy, they offered a sample. We ordered it and a couple other varieties. All were excellent. Pardon my pictures of partially eaten pizza, it was so inviting.

So glad Dog and Bear is finally open. We ate there a couple nights ago only about three days after their ā€œsoft openingā€. The meal, service, interior remodel were excellent. The sausage pizza we were served was one of the best we ever had. Crust, sauce and sausage were top rate as was the wedge salad. Menu is small but creative. I think it good - at least to start - to have a shorter menu but do it well.I would like it to remain a ā€œlocal secretā€ so we can walk in and get a table but I think when word gets out I need to be prepared for a bit of a wait. I hope in the future when it is discovered that they will take reservations.
