I rented 2 single kayaks, 2 double kayaks, and 2 SUPs for our wedding in September 2018 and they were so great to work with! I highly recommend them for any of your outdoor needs. They were great in communication via email, very responsive and helpful (especially Kristine) and helped us figure out the best rental set up for our group. Kristine called a few days before our wedding to confirm and was just so sweet! They dropped the equipment off at a specified address right at the set 9 AM time and pick up the next morning for a one day rental. The equipment itself was in good shape, all worked great and came with paddles and life jackets. We loved having this memory in large part thanks to Willard's!

Thanks to this bike shop, we were able to get great bike rentals and ride the great trails nearby. They also offered some tools and other useful items if you need them. Highly recommend.

Rented a kayak here and highly recommend for dog-friendliness! They have their own little beach you can launch from (behind the store, by the dam) which IS dog friendly, some other businesses launch from Commons Beach, and the beach itself unfortunately does not allow dogs. There is a two hour minimum for rentals as well. Had a blast!

Willard's has been a Tahoe staple for 30+ years. Best boot fitters around and Dax the shop owner knows more about skis than anyone I've ever met. Great demo selection too. Don't bother going anywhere else. You can't fit boots on the internet or take them back to get worked on, so do yourself a favor and go with a local shop that knows how to treat customers

We had a great experience with this outfit. Rented from several places around the lake. This place had the best Ebikes by far. Customer service was great.

If you want a bike, go here. Don't think about it. Just do it.The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They accept multiple payment methods. Not to mention, it is SUPER close to the trail. This was my first time ever renting a bike and they were so dope it's not even funny. RUN, DON'T WALK to this place if you need a bike. Seriously. I will be using this business exclusively for my bike rentals.

Bike rentals are 2hr minimum (not stated at time of rental) and the bikes are junk. Poor shifting, etc. 2x more expensive than other shops nearby.

Best. Bike rental. Ever. What a great location and friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable rates that go down the longer you plan to ride. They provided us some different path choices, but recommended the river road last weekend since the lake path hasn't been cleared of all of the snow yet.Our group of four left the Resort at Squaw Creek, brunched in Tahoe City, rode around town and up and down hills for miles until we came to the lake, then rode back to the river, checked out fish, checked out of sun burns (despite all the snow around us, it was very warm weather), and then we returned our bikes and drove back to our home away from home.It was literally one of the nicest days ever, with lots of recognition going to the guys at Willard's.They sell lots of ski clothing/gear in here too (and summer gear) but winter stuff is on sale right now!

One of the worst interview experiences I've ever had. I have great customer service experience and Dax treated me like I couldn't handle the job(which is basic rental/sales) and kept implying that I would just leave the job after a few months. After 5 minutes, I was ready to walk out. If how I was treated during the interview has any reflection on how he treats his employees, I can now understand why they have such a high employee turnover rate.

Horrendous customer service!! My family and I all walked in and immediately started looking at shoes, which is in their foyer. Had it not been for an absolute need we would have left with what followed. We asked if they 2 different style shoes in specific sizes; what we got in response is “they’re over there.”; which ended up being a wall of about 20’ and more than a dozen shoe styles mixed in. It absolutely felt and he appeared to be annoyed at having to be there yet alone help a customer. We would have purchased anything he recommended; anything for a quick transaction….There was another couple that walked behind us to return 2 rental bikes who were also clearly upset with his behavior and remarks to them. I hope they write a review as all as this should not be tolerated and seems to be a pattern and speaks to other negative reviews they have received here. Unfortunately given 2 prior experiences for another family that walked in and were browsing, had come up with a few questions to ask him in regards to a high dollar value purchase; we did not get to observe their interaction with him but I cringe as to how that may have gone after we left. The receipt I received shows the associates name as “Jake”. I fully expect the owner to reply with something along the lines of “we apologize, we’re short staffed or we strive for the best customer experience and respect.” But how is this true when there is a clear pattern…..

Friendly service and more than willing to answer all my questions. Offer some suggestions of where we might be able to pay in the snow locally. Rental pickup and do off was fast and easy, hassel free. Plenty of parking. Pricing was compatible to other shops. They didn't try to sell me more than I needed. I recommend and will return.

Lower price than renting on the slopes. Knowledgeable staff gave us valuable tips on the ski equipment.

I was custom fitted for a pair of ski boots here by Jake. He was awesome! He assured me the boots would mold to my feet. The boots are super and I’m in love with skiing again after years of snowboarding. It’s a great store, with a very relaxed (but safe) vibe- even during Covid. I appreciate it’s not set up like a Covid Fort Knox/prison like other more corporate stores in the area. And all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I will continue to shop here for my family, and I’m telling everyone who asks me where to get gear to shop here and support local businesses.

Willard's was great! Easy checkout and friendly staff. Rented a couple of bikes and enjoyed a beautiful ride down the Truckee River. Good selection of sunglasses flip flops shirts and more.

We went to Willard’s during normal business hours and they were all closed up with a note telling a customer to lock up their rental when they returned. Parking/traffic is terrible in this area so this was very inconvenient. Customer service the day prior was not great. I regret going back. I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Don’t expect great service or rely on them being open during advertised business hours.

If you're looking for tips, instructions, or direction with your rental, you'd be better off taking your business elsewhere. Couldn't even provide me with suggestions on where to take the kayak once in the water. If you want a bare-bones rental than this will do. Two stars for a functional kayak.

Willard's is the best ski outfitter in Tahoe, period. Being long time locals, their staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I have bought skis and outerwear from them for years. Recently I just got a great deal on a paddle board. People should know that this is the family that ran the Squaw Valley Sport Shop outfitting athletes, locals and visitors for decades in Olympic Valley. Do yourself a favor and start your search for gear here.

Had a great time renting bikes from willards. Staff was very helpful with chosen bikes for out need and pointing us in the right direction for food options and trails along the water. Would definitely recommend this place as I will be heading back there on my next trip.

They are friendly and really listen to what you need. My husband and I got our boots here and rented demo skis. Our boots were fitted to make our bony feet and shins feel comfortable.

DO NOT BUY A SLED HERE !! Sales staff was friendly, sleds are junk. Bought both hard plastic sled (broke after 4 runs) and tube (thin plastic, popped on 3rd run). No rocks. no sticks, nothing in the path (there was 3 feet of powder!). They would not refund for the tube, even though I called them about 30 min after I bought it. If you're just in business to rip off tourists, Willard's, you're doing it right (unfortunately (?), we live here, and will not be back).

Rented bikes here when no one else was renting (off-season). Had a great 20 mile ride. Bikes could use a little love (had some issues switching gears) but all in all it was a great experience!

My kids needed new gear and the Willard's took care of us. Also we needed to rent boards and my 10 year old scored a private lesson with Kimberly. I look forward to paddle board yoga this summer! The Willards have everything we need in their shop. Thank you.

A great place to rent bikes and enjoy a ride on many of the different bike paths in Tahoe City. Close to Lake Tahoe. Been coming to rent bikes here for years. Good quality bikes at a fair price.

I recently bought a paddle board here. Dax was super helpful with the different models, as well as the accessories that you need to have on the lake. Friendly staff and fun store.

Willard's is my go to for paddle-board rentals, summer & winter wear, and lake gear, as well as gifts for all occasions. The staff members are knowledgeable about the technical and practical aspects of their gear, making sure customers are hooked up with the right fit, and always help guide me to style with a wide variety of apparel options. Brands like Smartwool, Billabong, Hydroflask and more; Willard's has what you need for enjoying Tahoe's majesty :)!!

Seemed nice enough but wouldn't rent us gear for the day after Thanksgiving early. Went down to Dave's and they took care of us and we got a bunch of new gear from Dave's too.
