As other reviewers have said the pharmacy is very under staffed. Minimum an hour for prescriptions if you ask for a rush. And not because they aren't working hard, just not enough hands.

The phone system is inefficient and unhelpful and takes too long to navigate for no information. When you have to call multiple times this gets extremely frustrating and irritating. The pharmacy staff seems pretty apathetic and are not sympathetic or helpful in trying to assist you which is a huge problem when you're trying to get medication quickly.

I wanted to have my prescriptions transferred from out of state to this store. After being placed on hold for nearly 10 minutes, I hung up and called back. I was told I would have to continue to wait as there were others in line ahead of me. I asked if they could call me back when they were free to speak with me and I was told that they were really "sorry, but we’re too busy to do that." i hope this feedback will be used constructively. I was basically told to go elsewhere when all I wanted to do is give this store my business. Really poor customer service/PR.

I just have to say--the staff are exceptionally friendly and kind and gave my dog Cookie monster treats when she came in 😋They also have a variety of items that you could use on a road trip or going to the lake, a nice little pharmacy there.It's located in the Safeway shopping center. There's a subway sandwich store next to it and a few other shops around the bend.I can't say it enough their staff members are outstanding with service and friendliness...

It made me very sad today for the pharmacist. She is working so very hard, and does not have the help she needs. She did not spend four plus years in Pharmacy School to be doing the things I observed her doing. The store is so busy she needs another pharmacist and help that she can count on. I went to get a flu shot with an appointment and waited over an hour. Waiting doesn’t bother me as long as I am recognized as being there. The help just never made eye contact, or a how can we help you, or the pharmacist will be with you shortly. They are not helping her, and she is stretched beyond her limits. Come on CVS get her the help she needs, or I think she will be gone very soon. No one should work the way she is..

The people at this place do a great job, as best they can. They're nice, and very helpful. They really just want to help people out without getting screamed at, which happens a lot when people fail to get what they want.I have friends who have worked there. The stories I have heard...One story of a lady who yelled at my friend for 40 minutes (on the phone and in person, because she was driving in) because the pharmacy wasn't open when she wanted it to be, even though the pharmacy hours are posted. Tried demanding that my friend commit a felony by entering the pharmacy to disperse medicine.Another man trashed a display because the pharmacy wouldn't fill a 6 month old prescription for someone who wasn't dropping it off or picking it up.Another lady demanded a discount because she had to wait in line for 20 minutes on a Saturday in July.All I see in the negative reports are entitled people from out of town who didn't get exactly what they wanted.Come in, talk to the people there. They're good people. And they're trying to help.

Made a vaccine appointment, took time off work, drove an hour (in snow) and was told "sorry, there's no nurse here. Can you come back tomorrow?"You have my phone number and email address, how about cancelling appointments?Edit: I made the mistake of going here in 2022, and the exact same thing happened. Never again.

If I could give 2 reviews, I would. I have no problems with the in store pharmacists/counter help. They've been nice & helpful. However, there's a REAL problem with the automated phone/computer systems. I've been trying to get my covid vaccinations. I've made appts twice, & was turned away with the excuse, "We're not doing them today." I was told by the pharmacist I should call ahead to make sure there would be someone in to administer it. I've been on hold for 1 1/2hrs two days in a row before I finally gave up. Don't know what to do at this point. I'm crippled & in pain, & can't just drive in to town everyday to see if I can get vaccinated!

The staff is kind and willing to help. They have helped me countless times from getting prescribed meds to helping me figure out what cold medicine I could take.I understand some of the experiences people have mentioned. When I first moved up, in summer, I was used to faster city pharmacies. I was also having trouble getting prescriptions. I was very frustrated and a was rude to the staff myself. I was met with rudeness back, I was surprised at first, then realized if someone had acted like that towards me I probably would have done the same. We are all human, human kindness still needs to exist.They put in a lot of time to get things done right and quickly, but it is made so much harder when people are rude and impatient. Be kind and understanding it will get you further. They are good people who want to help.

Living and working in the area, I am very aware of the current challenges around employing staff. It is obvious that CVS are also struggling through this time, as the majority of businesses are. Getting upset because customer expectations are not in line with current conditions is just short sighted. Well done to the store manager for working in the pharmacy for hours on end and for getting my script expedited before my surgery. I could relate to the fatigue and inability to cope, as we have the same situation in our workplace, as do so many others.

Looking at the previous reviews, I'm not surprised by the lack of customer service. There was one person checking and a line of 20 customers. I went to check out at the pharmacy. There was one guy who finished getting his script and checking out. There was NO ONE else there! I had a few items in my hand and asked LeAnn the clerk if I could check out there. She hardly made eye contact and said only if I was picking up a script. The pharmacist was in ear shot and heard and saw without intervening. Corporate CVS confirmed it is not policy to refuse checking out a person in pharmacy that is not picking up a script. I called to inform the pharmacist who I'm sure is well aware of CVS policy, I mean he is an employee just like the clerk. I told him what Corporate said, and that he should tell the clerk to stop lying to customers. He kind of chuckled and said he would keep it in mind. Great Customer Service!

Did not believe the 1.6 star rating until I tried to fill a prescription there myself. Nearly a 4 hour wait for a 5 day course of azithromycin?? The explanation was that prescriptions were being called in by doctors all over the state--I have to imagine this is a regular occurrence in this vacation town and should have better systems in place to process. Rude on the phone. Very slow to cancel the RX when I decided to transfer to another pharmacy ("I'll do it when I have time"). I recommend Rite Aid in Kings Beach- they were delightful processed my prescription in 15 minutes.

If I could give a zero I would. You can not get anyone on the phone. We needed to get a prescription filled for my 2 year old. They did not have the meds. Found the medication in Reno. Tried calling for 2 hr and could not get the pharmacy to pick up for the transfer. Cvs in Reno even tried and was on hold for 45 minutes and then disconnected.

All the workers here are very rude, it was so bothersome I asked if kids Dramamine was in stock because although the person I asked told me in the rudest way possible to look at the wrong aisle and I even checked the right aisle and just asked her again if she was sure it was in stock. She couldn’t be bothered to walk the three feet to check. It was out of stock which is what I was trying to confirm but my goodness, it only takes 2 seconds to check for me

Please answer your phone. It is a 40-minute drive for me to pick up scripts or ask a question. Even if you are too busy, PICK UP the phone and request a call back. I think everyone understands staffing is an issue, but flat-out ignoring customers is just poor form.

I don't really see why the negativity. Yes, there are short waits and CVS is notoriously inefficient in systems, but the pharmacists are courteous and professional. I've been there about 6 times now to pickup scrips and everything has gone just fine.

We placed money into the self pay and it just froze. We finally got some some young guy to help but he seemed new and didn't know what to do. He asked what seemed to be his supervisor some blond lady for help. She was literally 10 feet from us on a register and flat out refused to help. She continued to help 4 more customers as we waited forb15 min as the kid tried some things then he tried to refund us. The lady then steps in yells at him and asks why is he refunding it will mess up the registers. She then says to just give us the items. After 15 min of her refusal to help! Really! I felt bad for the kid but definitely the worst cvs/store experience I've had.

Understaffed and overworked. Don't blame them for closing early or taking a lunch - they do what they can with the resources at their disposal. Never had a poor experience here, except having to wait. Waiting isn't an issue though, I always just come back in a couple hours. Don't believe the negative Karen reviews of the Bay Area transplants who need their blood pressure meds because they can't go outside and just relax.

Can I give them zero stars please?This place NEVER answers the phone. They eve have the nerve to call you and say "we can't fill your prescription, but call us back if you want". Ha, that's a good one. Good luck with that. They are the only game in town though, so you are kind of stuck unless you want to go to kings beach or truckee.

If I could give the Tahoe City CVS pharmacy NO stars I would!It is the worst & incompetent pharmacy. One of my Prescription refills was lost and another mishandled & wrong drug given. The one that was lost started with the refill being placed via their on-line website, and next day pharmacist calling to say that my meds were not in stock & he would have to place an order, which would take a few days, and for me to call back if I still wanted it filled. Instead of calling back, I went in person the very next day to let him know I did indeed wish it to be ordered. It seemed like I was putting him out. During this visit the pharmacist cashier made an account for me and took all my insurance info to match up with the prescriptions. A day later I go back in for another purpose, not expecting my prescription to be ready, but I check just in case. During this visit they tell me that I don't have any orders on file to be processed. And the pharmacist comes over and tells me that I never called him back. I then tell him that he is correct, that I did not call him back, but came in person just the day before! He was so rude this day and the day before. This is the only pharmacy in Tahoe city. I will drive the extra distance to truckee to not have to deal with this rudeness and most of all incompetence when it comes to filling important medications. There was woman just before me complaining about not getting the right meds as she checked her bags when leaving the store.*** I had just read an article that CVS pharmacy charges the most out of all pharmacies for RX refills. Being curious, I just checked receipt from prescription that was filled by a Walgreens. Walgreens charged me $238, and CVS $400.

This phamacy needs better management. The pharmacy staff's attitude toward customers is deplorable. They are constantly understaffed, overworked, and unprofessionally snippy toward customers. The staff in the store are great and are the only reason for a second star.

The male pharmacist in the Tahoe City branch is one of the rudest people I've ever come across..unfriendly, slow (deliberately). After a long wait while he chatted with other pharmacist I tried to pay, and he told rudely it would take time. I was the only one waiting and it was a small prescription. 7 pills. I ask where to find something and he gave the wrong aisle number..maybe again to be rude. I won't go back. Who needs this! This CVS is usually empty now I know why.

They fail to communicate on covid-19 with janssen on when they will get doses. They don't let you dm on facebook. They say fully booked but don't tell you for how long. The pharmacist does not have useful info on covid which sucks because customers want answer's.

I've never been treated more rudely before by a pharmacy... EVER. I'm from out of town and needed a medication. The young lady acted like I was crazy and went to her computer to check on it and then never spoke with me again completely ignoring me while the cranky man in the back held up several prescriptions yelling he'd just received all of those in the past hour and couldn't give me an estimate how long a Rx would take.. Never will give business here again and will spread the word.. Too bad..

Dude. I cannot get them to answer their phone. A provider prescribed me something I am sure they don’t have on hand and it was via voicemail 2 days ago. I just want to know if they have received the order. I’ll have to drive there to just find out if they have received that order because Iv been on the phone waiting for someone to answer 3 times for over 30 minutes.

I would not use this pharmacy for prescriptions. Nice, hardworking people but understaffed. Call in a refill - says 4hrs- lucky if it’s ready 36 hrs later.

I mean what do you say... it's a CVS. If you need it, they probably got it. Visiting from Canada, fyi California champagne is NOT and I repeat NOT the same thing as actual amazing real champagne. Met an employee who was from Canada also!

22 mins on the phone trying to reach the pharmacy and now still holding on the line to reach just about anyone. Needed to have medicine out of state transferred here and it’s urgent.
