Dr. Allison Pillsbury is the best! She talks with you, answers your questions and adresses your concerns and doesn't make you feel like you over reacted. We didn't feel rushed. Her office staff in all capacities that we had contact with are also great. We called due to an emergency and I, the pet mom, was in a panic. Lisa was very patient with me in my rant. I did apologize to her later. Also, someone called us several times after the event to see how our precious Sadie, was doing. We feel very blessed that Sadie is now a patient since we visit that area occasionally. It is reassuring to know you have a good veterinary hospital when traveling. To all the Acorn Hills Animal Center, thank you!!!!!

I have never seen a vet so compassionate and dedicated to the animals. She saved our dog Montana's life and even stayed at the clinic all night to make sure he made it threw the night. She is truly a modern day doctor Doolittle! As well as an angle sent by God for the animals she cares for. We are very grateful everyday when we get to hold and kiss our dog Montana knowing he beat the 50% Odd of living because God put him in the hands of this amazing woman and the team of angles by her side that where always welcoming and loving even when we where loosing hope they where there to support us . I can't say enough about this place and all that work there. Thank god they are there and God bless them for being the voice of the animals ❤

All I can say is WOW. What a wonderful place to take your animals. I was on a camping trip with my little dog. He became ill and they took him in even though I was from out of town. They have checked on home each day.Alison is a very comforting vet and open to all phone calls in regards to the illness of your animal. My little Deuce is with me at home resting.

The best place to take your dog that ate something he wasn’t supposed to. This was the second time that our dog needed surgery. This was so much better than the first surgery in Modesto. Plus this was a more complicated and his recovery was better. Incredible Doctor and attendants. I can’t thank you enough.

Very caring. They checked in daily after our Emergency visit up through our baby’s follow up appointment. Nobody wants an emergency to happen, but they are there for your fur baby if one does.

My Chihuahua that I inherited after my parents passed away is having seizures. I called Acorn Hills' emergency line. I was told it would be $230 just to be seen, no tests or anything else, just to walk in, but that probably wouldn't happen because they're too full.In other words, they charge for the stay, the doctor won't be back until regular business hours and my parents' dog has to suffer through seizures until regular business hours.

And to several vets in Calaveras county and this has been one of the greatest, if not the greatest, very friendly, very helpful and they didn’t really seem to try and scam me to get extra money out of me. I would recommend anybody if you were looking for a vet

Our dog swallowed a fish hook at the lake on a Saturday…Dr. Pillsbury was able to see her for the emergency and did everything she could to avoid surgery. When it become clear that it would have to be surgically removed, we were informed about process and cost at every step of the way. Everything went smoothly and our girl is doing great. The staff here was in constant contact during a stressful time and we are so grateful for their work and Dr. Pillsbury’s dedication.

Worst experience I’ve ever had with a business. Dr. Pillsbury should have her license revoked. Highly recommend not using this facility unless you want to call for an emergency and get hung up on twice!!!!!!!

Dr Pillsbury is the best she has done so much to keep my 17 year old Eddiehaskel comfortable in his later years, and has been wonderful with my German Shepherd pup Trucy. The staff is wonderful and can’t not be replaced. Eddie is a frequent flyer and they always accommodate and get him in or make sure he has his medications.Eddiehaskel says thank Acorn Hills ✨🦓 Once again excellent service for Hank my Great Dane pup, he’s just getting to know the staff and after Dr Pillsbury, had such a positive visit with him last appointment, the staff sled him down the hall to get his shot, as he sat, he’s gotten a lot bigger since his last visit. With his dignity alittle bruised he came out on all 4’s and ready to come home. Thank You Acorn Hills

Dr. Pillsbury is amazing! Hands down the best! She cares for all animals as if they were her very own. She spends time and is really dedicated to the success of you and your animal. My family lives 10 minutes from Acorn Hills and I was up visiting with my one year old German Shepherd/Malinois named Bear. We noticed he didn't want to eat, he started throwing up and was extremely uncomfortable. We rushed him to emergency in Folsom as it was after hours and Dr. Pillsbury was on rattlesnake calls. They gave him a x-ray, medication and recommended I get him to a vet first thing the next morning as they weren't prepared to do surgery. We drove home at 3am and I sat with him until Dr. Pillsbury opened. She got me in first thing and gave him an ultrasound. His spleen was HUGE and it needed to be removed as soon as possible. I was going to drive down to our regular vet in the Bay Area but thought the car ride wouldn't be the best thing for my boy. I had to make a call within minutes. I was so nervous as I had never been to Dr. Pillsbury before and I was trusting my baby in her hands. She was extremely detailed and spent time explaining the surgery. I was a total mess, in tears, trying to hold it together, stressing out, extremely worried I would lose him. She understood how sensitive I was feeling and talked me through it multiple times as well as answered question after question I had about the surgery and Bear. She called and let me know they were going into surgery and how long it would take. The office called and let me know how it was going during surgery and she called me immediately after. She took Bear home with her for two days after surgery so she could keep a close eye on him. They were amazing and took such great care of my big guy. He is my entire world and I am so thankful he is here and healthy today because of the wonderful team at Acorn Hills. I would highly recommend Dr. Pillsbury. Thank you again for saving my Bear. We are forever thankful and grateful!

Dr. Pillsbury is a very fine person and a very fine veterinarian. If you have an emergency or urgent matter she will always fit you in. She explains what is going on with pet care in detail. She cares about our pets and treats them as if they were hers. Her staff are also very nice people. They call with appointment reminders. Some other vets and people doctors don’t bother. We travel from Valley Springs to Jackson to see her. Personally I think she works too much, but we love her dedication.

My parents recently had to take their cat Sonnyboy 🐈 to the vet. The entire staff was amazing. They took great care of our stubborn orange cat that was not doing well. Alison kept my parents updated and took the time to answer all the questions. He is back home and doing well thanks to the staff!

We have found Acorn Hills Animal Center and staff friendly, caring and professional. They always call us the next day after our visit to see how our Abby, and now Jesse are doing. For us, the extra steps they take means everything to us.Dr Pillsbury is wonderful. She makes our visits pleasant and calming to our pets. The time she takes to visit with us, is part of what we appreciate and love. She takes the time to explain, and to make sure, we clearly understand everything she is saying to us. We can't thank everyone enough for the care of our beloved companions, Abby & Jesse.Thank you,Darryl & Denise

👎👎👎TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Wouldn't look at my dog without a 275 dollar fee. Not even a peek. The technician brushed my crying girlfriend off. She offered him every cent she has to her name, a total of 125 dollars. He acted like it was beneath him. His only recommendation was to have the dog put down because he was "old". If he represents the views and opinions of the establishment he works for, then we have truly fallen on dark days. Cruel, greedy, heartless. That's my review. 🖕👉 Acorn Hills.

Dr Pillsbury and staff are wonderful. They helped us through the passing of our beloved Rusty and are now helping us care for our new puppy Bodie. They always answer the phone and return calls if there are concerns and always find a way to squeeze us in when there is an emergency. Dr Pillsbury does rechecks and follow ups after all office visits for vaccines and procedures to make sure there are no concerns. We are so grateful to Acorn Hills for all they do and for their loving care.

I am always happily surprised by the time Dr. Pillsbury spends with us and our dog. She is so comforting and knowledgeable and I can feel the love and devotion she shows towards her patients and their owners. I can’t imagine ever taking my pets to a different doctor. The care team is a great addition. We are met by professionals when we enter the facility and it continues throughout our visit. I always know our pet is getting the best of care.Gayle and Larry Hayes

I’m surprised to see one single poor review on this placeWe used to use Jackson Creek until we got our new puppyOne or 2 days after we got him we mmm he was super sick we were sure it was parvo so we called jackson creek that evening and we were told they have no emergency services and they said to try acorn hillsWe called in they told us to come right away they got him right in and Allison was on itIt turned out to be corona virus not covid canine corona virusShe saved his lifeAfter that she was our vet we would never go anywhere elseWhenever we have had to call in for future for any emergency situation for any of our pets Allison is there she may be in a surgery or busy but she has always returned our call in a timely mannerIt’s almost like she lives in the back room she’s there so muchUnfortunately our dog is in there currently with an intestinal blockage and I know Allison will do everything she possibly can to get him back to us in great shapeThere is no one I trust more with our boys healthAllison we are truly grateful for you and everything you have done for all of our animalsThank you

I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS REVIEW KEEPS DISAPPEARING?I'M ALSO CURIOUS WHY DID YOU HAVE ME DO ALL THE BLOOD WORK TO MAKE SURE MY DOG WAS HEALTHY ENOUGH TO HAVE THE DENTAL WORK DONE AND THEN NEVER WOULD MAKE THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE DENTAL WORK THAT WAS A LOT OF MONEY.I've gone here twice and after my second appt. I left there VERY confused and frustrated. My chihuahua had an infection due to some teeth needing to be pulled out the first appointment she was given antibiotics to treat the infection about three or four days later I took her in for her appointment and at that time they took her blood and a urine sample for making sure that she was healthy enough to be put under and have dental work done soon.Attached this appointment I asked to have her nails trimmed and reluctantly the vet agreed to go ahead and trim her nails when they gave me my dog back they sat her in my lap and she was soaking wet with rubbing alcohol so much so it got my pants wet the only explanation was "oh she's wet with rubbing alcohol" as the girl walked quickly out the door. There's much more to this appointment that left me extremely frustrated one being when trimming her nails they missed one of her two claws she was soaking wet with rubbing alcohol and the vet never even came back into the room to talk to me further about making plans for the dental surgery. Before leaving I realized they had not taken my dog's temperature which I was curious to know if her fever that she had when in emergency had responded with the antibiotics they prescribed. I asked the technician if they took my dog's temperature while she was in the back having blood drawnI asked technician if they took her temperature while in the back having her blood drawn she said I'm sure they did they always do I asked if she could find out what the temp was because I was curious to know if the infection was subsiding she comes back and says no they didn't your dog is high risk because she tried to bite them I responded with well they took her blood and urine as well as trimmed her nails the technicians response was I'm just telling you what they told me 🙄After letting several days go by and my frustration and anger calm down I called the vet that I saw and spoke with her directly to let her in a lengthy conversation in regards to my frustrations and concerns about the above appointment. After speaking to the vet I felt better about letting her know how that appointment went and she thanked me for the feedback and we talked about going ahead and having the dental work appointment made she promised to send me an estimate that night or no later than the following morning and please stay by my phone because the office would be calling within a few minutes to make the appointment for dental work we spoke on the 19th of October and it is now the 23rd I have not received a estimate nor have I received a phone call and that really disappointed me I thought that I was going about the situation and my frustrations and concerns in a mature manner instead of just doing a crappy review and not talking to the vet directly. Apparently my dog's care nor my business or money is important to acorn hills animal center and that's really disappointing.
