Standard pet store little on the pricey side but you know it's a small shop in a small town so it is expected. What I didn't expect is they have little wash stations for your pets and they're like big barrels with hoses and nozzles and washing equipment so you can wash your pet there.

They always have what I need and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I live an hour away and my mom works over in susanville. I call the staff here and tell them what I need for my Bearded dragon and they get ut all ready for my mom to come pick it up hassle free.

1/2024 review update:I still absolutely love Pet Station and all the staff who work there. They have a very welcoming atmosohere and the staff are very knowledgeable about their products.I want to review a toy I recently bought at Pet Station. The toy is a little green soccer ball with black speckles, And it comes in different sizes and colors. I can't remember the brand name though, but I'm certain the staff will know the toy I'm talking about. I will post a picture of it on here too.Doggo lovers need to know this little ball is THE BEST tough toy I've purchased for Squidward since she was born. I can't remember the brand name, but it should be called the "Indestruct-a-Ball," or the "Un-Tear-a-Ball," or even "Un-Ripp-a-Ball!"This ball DOES NOT DEFLATE!! And so far she hasn't been able to take bites out of it, or rip it apart either. She definitely punctures the ball and runs around with it in her mouth, but it doesn't deflate, and it truly is indestructible (although we will see what shape it's in after 6 months...that will be a true test). But so far it is amazingly tough!Squidward is a very strong chewer and has destroyed some of the "toughest" toys out there. But this little ball is THE BEST because other tough toys don't last her very long at all. So I give 5 stars to the manufacturer of this little soccer ball! And definitely ongoing 5 stars to the staff at Pet Station...you folks ROCK!❤️2022 review:I recently moved to Susanville and I LOVE this place. My puppy Squidward LOVES coming here and getting the braided bully sticks. And the employees are super nice, very very friendly and playful with Squid, and always knowledgeable about their products. I sincerely appreciate the one employee with short blonde hair (sorry forgot her name) who is always so helpful and caring about my puppy. She has lots of insight into treats, food, and toys that Squid will love. Thank you to Pet Station, they have a lifelong customer right here! (Pics are Squidward in her new cozy cold weather jacket for snow.)

Thank you for caring enough to reply to my review written 2 years ago. Staffing and management has indeed improved, and as you can see by my photos taken in the midst of the COVID-19 Crisis, I have been back to Pet Station Susanville. I live this store and always have, and was disgruntled by a rude employee who, as stated in your reply, does not work there anymore. I would rate 5 stars from my original review, but Tractor Supply has your hours beat. Unfortunately I have developed a habit of shopping there. Reply with your new store hours and I will be happy to shop Pet Station again.

Super impressed with this store, or to be more specific- the people working there. What a delight to talk to Andrea, she is a fountain of knowledge! I have a new aquarium and don't know much about it yet but she really knows her stuff and I feel like I learned so much in a short time! She did a water test for me recently and gave me advice on how to proceed. I didn't buy anything that day and she still took the time to help me. Great store with knowledgeable people and lots of different products and critters to choose from!

This store is great! The staff is always so helpful and give great information on products! I am never disappointed with what I purchase here for the pups and kitties. I love that they help foster out reacue pets as well! One thing I would add is they need to fix the broken window in the front. I'm sure it's due to insurance or what not but it's been a long time and could use a fixing up! Thanks Pet Station for being our favorite in town!

Has a variety of options depending on what your looking for. I was trying to find a harness and leash for my cat. They wanted 18.99 for it. I checked with Tractor Supply and they had the exact same leash and harness for $2 less. Same brand and size.Edit: I was not aware that the store price matched at the time of the original review above. Not many places do this and the fact it is an option brings this up to a 4 star for me.

The staff is absolutely amazing here. I recently purchased two rats from here and they are so tamed and loving, you can tell they are handled often. Every pet I have got from here has been very healthy and friendly. I purchased a lizard, hamster, mice, rats and i have never been bit. The staff really care about the animals. I take forever to decide on anything and they are so patient! I have never had a bad experience at all and I come frequently. The staff is so educated concerning anything about pets. If you are looking to purchase any pets, pet food, or pet supplies, I would absolutely recommend this place. 10/10 💙

Good selection just not fully stocked(only one or two bags of dog food) been waiting on a call for when they restock the type of food we get since we grabbed the last one(small bag). But never got a call. Been almost a month. Tons of dogs treats. And the bath station are great.

I always appreciate that Pet Station has one bag of the cat food I purchase. The store is clean and easy to navigate. I have always been able to find what I am looking for, or close to it.The store is missing warmth though. Not that the clerks aren't friendly, they are. The store doesn't feel like it is run by animal lovers... silly maybe that is what I am looking to feel when in a pet store.

First off, the staff is AMAZING. They're all really friendly, and helpful, and just generally personable.Secondly, they have a bit of everything. Stuff for dogs, cats, birds, rodents of all sorts, fish, reptiles--you name it, they likely have SOMETHING for it, or KNOW where to get it.Thirdly, I've purchased four rats from them, and not a SINGLE one has had any health problems. They're all healthy, and active, and just good little rats.If you're going to get rats, definitely get them from here. The two little girl rats I got from them were SUPER well adjusted--like RIGHT away. The boys took about a week to get super friendly, but I think that was because I purchased them individually, whereas I got the two girls at the same time.

Went to the pet store with my 2 year old nephew and sister -in law to get fish. And the only thing was we had to go grab someone to get the fish for us, but other than that it was a good experience. Especially since one of the workers there pulled out a rat for my nephew to pet and he adored it, so that what made it a great experience.

Went in to get dog treats, asked Danny for help, he ignored me and went straight to my daughter to help her. I asked help from the other worker she couldn't get away from the costumer she was helping. I waited and waited, probably a good 15 minutes while he chatted with his friend in back. Then as I waited by the cash register a young girl walked in, she asked if I was in line, I said for the last 20 minutes. Then Danny came to the front and waited on her, now I was getting mad. When he finally got him to help me, the toy that was one day old I needed replace he wouldn't ti it. Even though the lady I bought it from said I could. When I told him that, he told menI was rude and to get out if his store. So I go there t I help keep them in town, Amazon is cheaper and brings it to my front door, which is what I will do from now on. Don't go there.

Great place employees are nice. Would change the reptiles enclosures a bit if it was my choice Bearded dragons are on crushed walnut shell. Slate shelf liner or reptile carpet would all be better options. Walnut shell can result in impaction in bearded dragons if they miss prey and accidentally eat it.

Super cute pet store. Also very pet friendly. Employees were more then happy to love on my doggy and give him a treat. Unfortunately some items are a little on the pricey side. But the extra expense is well worth helping a local business

I have been in there twice now and both times the associates were incredibly rude. I was in there most recently with my husband. While waiting in line, I left to go out to the car. I am part deaf and I did not hear the associate say anything as I left. The associate then spoke very disrespectfully about me not responding to him, and my husband was in there to hear it. We will never be returning.

It was a nice little place for pet items, appeared to have a decent selection of items, and the clerk helped find optional items. Also appears that you can get holistic and closer to natural foods for dogs than basic canned and dry at typical store.

response to owner's commentary: i do not need clarification; your ignorant employee andrea does. i stand by my truthful retelling of events. your woefully inaccurate thumbnail tutorial of california's resale law was also not necessary. (i wonder how many sellers on craigslist and facebook marketplace have business licenses secured and in place before they accept monies? how about minors who sell their livestock annually? do they have business licenses from the unincorporated areas they might reside in?) nice spin doctoring and covering of employee andrea's steaming pile, but thank you-no thank you for the sorry-not-sorry. peace.on a positive note, this small-ish town store has a respectable amount of aquariums and appears to have a basic selection of fish for the local enthusiast and/or beginning hobbyist. despite the unseemly presence of numerous dead fish in the middle of operating hours, the remaining fish appeared healthy and active.however...after seeing one to two empty cages labeled with price tags for guinea pigs (on two separate occasions, months apart) i offered to provide the susanville store with some healthy, vibrant, weaned baby guinea pigs.initially andrea seemed friendly and enthusiastic, stating they were routinely sold out of guinea pigs because "they fly off the shelf in two days".likely following protocol, she had me call phil at the incline village location. despite the popularity of the animals andrea cited, phil declined saying they weren't "big sellers" for them, "they stick around too long" and he would "get a couple" when his (rat) breeder had them available.fair enough; his store, his right, his business, his life, his perogative. no problem at all.simply as a courtesy, i informed andrea i would not be bringing any guinea pigs by afterall.andrea suddenly shifted gears on me and asked if i had a "special license required by our county for people who sell rabbits and guinea pigs".i told her i had never heard of this "special license" especially since a california law went into effect prohibiting the sale of rabbits in certain retail establishments such as a pet or feed store. certified rescue rabbits for rehoming, yes. non-rescue rabbits for sale, no. (as i understand it, being i am not well versed in the retail sale of rabbits)when i asked her to enlighten me regarding the "special license" i would need in lassen county she said:"PET STATION REQUIRES IT OF OUR BREEDERS TO MAKE SURE YOU PAY ALL YOUR TAXES ON THE MONEY YOU MAKE SELLING ANIMALS".wow! wow, wow, wow! ruminate on that for a moment. i was gobsmacked. ALL my taxes?? did i dial the irs? the state franchise tax board? wow!but no mention of pet station having a "special license" requirement with regard to ensuring ethical breeding practices, quality of life, humane living conditions, superior feed, kind treatment of animals, readily available veterinary care, preserving breed standards etc. nope. just big brother-like concern for a well-intentioned individual's personal finances. (operative word: personal)if taken into consideration all it costs to raise and maintain all my animals...my routine drive to central california for specific types of feed, veterinary expenses (last year eclipsed $7,000-, one year it was $30,000), mileage, multiple property upkeep, my regular rate of pay in my profession of the last 30 years, groomers and shoers, a mortgage, multiple insurances, a minimum of two hours a day of care and tending to their needs, multiple vehicle maintenance, phone bill etc...i am constantly and historically in the red with them. it is a labor of love, a lifestyle, a hobby from childhood and a passion for excellence i enjoy sharing. nothing more.miss andrea, just fyi: my money, my tax obligations, my abundant and legally permissible deductions, my sales receipt book, my enrolled agent tax preparer, my gifting of animals, my life...are solely MY business...NONE OF YOURS OR PET STATION'S.i imagine the owners would cringe if they knew how you elected to represent their susanville location. shame on you.

Title: Danny is a problemWe brought our baby Hound to get his first bath here and the girls there are very sweet and love animals. We got Buford in the tub and he was afraid at first. We turned the water on and things were going well until the soap line decided not to work.We asked the girls for help and they eventually had Danny come over which took about 5 minutes.Meanwhile, my baby Hound is shivering and afraid from standing in the metal tub so I just bought a bottle of shampoo to finish his bath. When I came back with the shampoo, Danny had the hose on full blast while Buford was in there and I told him to shut the water off.Danny snarled at me and stated, "I need to see if my hoses are working".Again, I said shut the water off you are scaring my Hound and when he refused, I reached over to shut the water off and he pushed my arm away.I told him to stop and then he flung his arms up in the air and left. The girls were very nice and it seemed they were afraid of Danny.I don't know who he is, but he should not be around people or animals. Rude, disrespectful, angry, hostile and aggressive won't help your business.I can deal with rude people, but when you attack my Hounds the way Danny has, I will say something. He needs to be let go Marshall.
