05.01.24 Thought Safeway in S Lake Tahoe would be more expensive but it wasn't if you use your Safeway Rewards Acct. With that the 12ct cans of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was $20.99, down the street at Grocery Outlet the same beer was $19.99, so pretty close in price.Although why did Safeway reduce their packaged O Organics Salads' weight from 16oz to 11oz for the same price of $5.99? Grocery Outlet has the packaged Organic Mixed Salads at $4.99 for 16oz.So definitely shop around, there's Smart & Final, Ralph's, Grocery Outlet, Wholefoods all nearby, and crossing into Nevada in the opposite direction another secluded Safeway.Cashiers and employees are friendly and helpful.

A clean, well organized and well stocked Safeway. There is nothing you might need that they don't have, from organic chocolates to ethnic foods. The staff is particularly helpful. The lady that made us sandwiches insisted on cutting fresh cucumbers, though some were already pre cut. The gas station here is usually the cheapest we have seen in Tahoe.

Very friendly staff, they are always working hard, it is a large store, managment is always available, curtacy clerks are very inviting and available for everything and anything, the departments all have great teamwork, they attend us with everything and always point us to the right direction. As a customer and as a local I am very happy to have safeway. We can shop in the morning in the afternnon and even at night! I deffinatly cannot say no to their mochas at starbucks. The app is very helpful. There is a huge snow storm right now and safeway is still available.

Holiday weekend at 5 PM. Lots of people and exactly 2 (TWO) checkers! 30 minute line just to check out. Nobody seemed to care. I’m pretty tolerant, but that was beyond the pale

The store is faced well, the associates we encountered were helpful and pleasant. I love the carved wood figures they have on the entrance support beams. A lot of carts were out-of-order and lined up along the front of the store. I'm assuming the snow is the culprit as far as the carts are concerned, because there's a lot of weather damage in the entire area (Lake Tahoe) - so I don't blame the store for the weather. We had to go out and get a cart from the parking lot, because the functional ones were in-use already. I also would have loved to see a few more asiago bagels - the last two times we came in, they didn't have any, and one of the times was a Saturday morning.There can be a big difference from one Safeway to another as far as the quality of the store - and this is one of the nicer-looking ones.

Got served chicken wings from a guy telling me he is sick, coughing into a mask as he is handling food and sees nothing wrong with this. Ended up giving the chicken wings to a different employee and he asked if I wanted him to replace the order, I said no because who knows if this guy was coughing all over the food while he was preparing it.I asked the lady in self checking for help because my just4u deal was not coming off after I ended my safeway card, she immediately said I'm doing something wrong and when I explained that I only entered the number attached to my card she said I messed up. Come to find out it was a system error and it wasn't working for anyone but she didn't even try offering an apology for telling me im doing something wrong. Then she dropped my steaks on the ground and then quickly rebagged them saying it didn't break open. I pulled them out of the bag to see the plastic was broken open. Who wants to buy food that's been on the floor.Horrible customer service from these two people. Such a lack of heath and safety standards for handling food. One would hope this gets addressed and minimum standards enforced for the safety of all customers.

Stopped in to fill up they would have gotten 5 Stars but when I grabbed the handle of the pump it was sticky (yuck!) thank goodness I have hand wipes in my truck!

Compared to the other grocery stores in Tahoe, Safeway's prices are close to the highest. The pharmacy does not really care about customers. After calling them to confirm meds were ready to pick up I had to wait 20 minutes when I got there.To the Safeway response. I was at the pharmacy for a friend, nothing has changed from five years ago when I stopped going to Safeway in Tahoe because of the reasons stated above. The response is just lip service.

Very disappointing experiences. Was on vacation, went there twice, but both times, they made mistakes when checked out, they double charged the Smirnoff wine cooler, made mistakes on cheese, milk prices and vegetables. We had to go to customer service to get it corrected. Lucky that we checked the receipts, otherwise, they would have stolen around $25 from us. To everyone, check the receipts on your way out, they seemed to make mistakes very often. Don't know it's human mistakes or purposely. No confidence for Safeway anymore. Sigh!

Second time in a row now that they have customer service closed, it's 12:10pm now. They really need to fix their staffing issues. Now this same person, as in my previous review, name Kimberly is rude; she was rude to the guy in front of me, with an attitude. She came out of safe room, sounding upset and say you can't u see the damn sign, we're closed. She obviously doesn't care. Store itself I guess is okay, but they need to fix their staffing problem and other issues they may have. I don't think Management seems to care.

PROS: Excellent variety of quality products.CONS: Large parking lot was mostly full, because this store is about the only game in town. Not enough handicapped parking spots. Homeless beggar lady near the front door. No workers to ask for help in the aisles. Totally out of Michelob Ultra bottles on a Monday... would have been great after a shortened hike with my trainer. Gatorade varieties 32oz. bottles were shown as only $0.69 each (12 or more), but rang up at the higher regular price. Similar to Walmart at checkout, with few Cashiers working. Cashback option showed $60, and I didn't select other to get a higher amount. The same out-of-place homeless beggar lady near the front door on the way out--so I felt rotten about not offering cash yet again.

Decent grocery store. Only ever 1 or 2 lines open regardless of how busy. Pre prepared food is a lie and a joke. Doesn't have what's supposed to be in it. Way overpriced and not very good.

Always love to come and do all the grocery shopping from here. But the bakery here is getting worst day by day because of bakery manager don’t do her work properly and her friend strore manager is helping her all the time whenever she do anything wrong. Bakery employees are quitting their jobs day by day because of bakery manager’s behaviour with employees. So sad Our Safeway is not like that. Safeway needs to change their bakery and store manager’s so employees can work in a good environment.

I go to this Safeway a lot. It's a good location with many food and recipe ingredients. I always tend to buy something that I haven't tried yet every time I shop here. The sushi section is amazing. It's also fun to people watch here when the store is packed.

I doordash, so I shop here 5 to 10 times a day. They have a Starbucks in the store, a flower department, a meat department, the deli makes great sandwiches. Produce is great, they carry exotic fruits. Self checkout is always fast. The only downfall is there is only one cashier late night and the line gets pretty long

I love Safeway and how convenient it is, our South Lake Tahoe Safeway employees go above and beyond to help the community. I especially love and appreciate drive up and go, I order from there weekly and everyone in there is always friendly and super helpful. Peter, is so polite and knowledgeable, Steven always makes sure things are right and handled correctly, bow is such a sweetheart and loves to help, Kaleb ensures you are happy with you’re items, and Niko always picks the best produce, I couldn’t rave enough about this group!
