Royal Gorge is THE place to go for a super homey cross-country experience (or skating /snowshoeing) you’ll love the chill vibes, the homemade paninis made to order, the wonderful staff who have been there for decades, and the easy-going salt-of-the-earth clientele. Don’t expect a 5-star resort, but do expect a lot of heart and people who want you to fall in love with cross country skiing.

Very well maintained, lots of options for all levels, several warm huts for picnic, wonderful staff, large parking. The only caveat is that the station is at the top of the tracks, so the return is always the hardest part 😀

Beautiful cross country ski resort! Plenty of trails that were well groomed when we were there. We were actually snowshoeing this day, but this didn’t take away from the stunning views out on the trails. Afterward we ate at the cafeteria, delicious meal and friendly staff.

Such an amazing place! The trails are wide, well marked, the nature is breathtaking. The little cafe offered yummy chicken noodle soup and wonderful paninis. All people were very nice. We will definitely come back!!

Great place for cross country skiers from beginners to experts. Equipment is easy to rent. Miles of groomed trails in a beautiful setting. Snowshoes also available to rent. There's a lot of snow up there now (end of March 2019)

We went with some friends who were cross country skiing for the first time and got great tips from the staff at summit station on how to get started. We had a great time skiing out to Wildy Hut!

Top notch trails. Easy rentals. Readily available lessons. The only down side is the cost. Intentionally higher than most places keeps the trails open and clear.

Royal Gorge feels like home. I've been a pass holder for the past few seasons but have been coming to the resort for about 8 years. Every year, I'm on a mission to introduce skating to as many women as I can (so I have friends to do it with) and last weekend the two beginners I brought had a wonderful time. Dave in the ski shop waxed my skis in under an hour so I could go home with them since I couldn't leave them overnight, despite their being very busy. Additionally, they'd run out of their famous veggie chili for the day but Cameron in the cafe defrosted four servings for me and my friends since I'd been talking it up all day. This was such a generous and thoughtful gesture and one we were all grateful for. Beginners and regulars alike are made to feel special. It's a rare experience in this day and age and the vibe at Royal Gorge is as awesome as the terrain. Every time I leave, I can't wait to come back.
