Cool campground and would be better if they had showers situated on the grounds. It is close enough to food options and small stores so if you’re in a pinch and forget some items, you aren’t far away. People respected the quiet times which was nice because I have small children and there are grounds keepers who go around to ensure that people are respectful. The vault toilet is absolutely disgusting and it makes it hard to do your business in there because it feels like you’re in a gas chamber. Recommend bringing a portable toilet aka bucket and lid toilet! Would have been much better than the vault!

As always we had a fantastic time. The camp hosts, Frank and Jamie, are amazing and always help out and make the camping experience so much better! They do an amazing job at keeping the campground/restrooms clean and offer friendly conversation whenever we run into them. Thank you for everything! Already looking forward to next year.

The campground is okay. Some sites definitely better than others. Unfortunately ours was so tiny and didn't have any shade from the trees. Fishing isn't great here either. It's a party lake on the weekends. So many people on the shores. People leave all their things on the shore overnight so even if you wake up early to beat the crowds, you still have to dodge all their belongings, canopies, floats, garbage on the shores. Guess it would be a good family lake. Just not a place for me. The good thing about this place is that the vault toilets are well kept and there is plenty of water spigots to supply your site. Otherwise, I'd skip this place.

We camped at Dorabelle on the weekend of July 15. Beautiful kept campground. We stayed on campsite #7. It was spacious, and it had additional room up on a boulder. The bathrooms were near the campsite and were kept clean. A water spigot very nearby on the campsite. The lake is about a seven minute walk down the road. The camp host Beu and his partner were awesome! They came around in the mornings to greet everyone and to make sure we were doing good! Also, they were very helpful because our truck broke down two miles down the road from the campground and they recommended an awesome tow company that were able to help us out! We will definitely be coming back again!

This place is a gem. Very beautifully kept, easy access to the lake, right in town so you can grab supplies and what not, but don't feel like you're right down the street from everything. The camp hosts were so sweet and kept the bathrooms immaculate. I had to leave a day early because my dog had to be rushed to the vet, and before I was even done driving out of the campground, they had processed a refund for my last night-which I was not expecting at all. Thank you all so much, we'll be back!

We rented a trailer and got a spot close to the bathroom. Local staff SUPER nice and friendly. Each site has a table fire pit with moveable grill and a bear box. There are double sites too. This campground also has beach access. How quickly you access the water depends on which site you reserve. We went with friends and would probably get two spots facing each other instead of next to each other or next door to each other, for ease in the evenings when hanging together. Bathrooms have lights for night time use. No showers. Also, close to town access for restaurants and stores. There us also the day use area closer to shore. But you still have to hike down to the water.

We stayed at Dorabelle Campgrounds this weekend and it was by far the BEST camping trip we’ve ever taken and we’ve taken many over the years! We invited family who don’t enjoy camping very much and they all had so much fun! Everyone keeps asking when we we’re coming back again.. our hosts Frank and Jamie were amazing, super friendly and made sure we knew if we needed anything they were available .. the campground was immaculate and beautiful close to our private cove by the water it was a nice weekend for fishing .. Thank you Dorabelle for the awesome memories you helped us create, we can’t wait to come back!!

Had a great time. Shaver Lake is not too cold, clear water. Host/rangers were super nice. Mostly quiet. (Don’t understand ppl and their total lack of consideration for their neighbors. Just turn down your music and lower your voices after 10 pm! Not that hard! One campsite got an angry but calm visit from my husband at 12:30am, and they were good after that.) Bathrooms were so clean!! Was a little concerned when we saw there were toilet vaults but it was fine. Hook on the wall for hanging clothes.

09/24/22 space #48we where very disappointed by our stay here. Why bother to have camp rules when they are not enforced. Between the family with a chainsaw cutting dead trees for firewood to the family brawl which started at 10pm at night. This was my first time here camping and probably my last. The family managing the campsite where within listening distance from theses disturbances and completely ignored or just didn't care to get involved to stop any of it. Everyone that we complained to about this incident had a rationale for not dealing with it. I will not come back to this campsite..... I'm knocking the review down from 2:00 to 1 Stars because obviously they've read this review and they choose not to even respond to it.

Great campground. The restrooms were pretty clean as far as camp bathrooms go and the campground itself is nice! The sites are nice with enough parking for 2 cars, and they have a picnic table and bbq. There is ample wood around for a fire. The lake is close and a lot of fun to swim in.Finally, the staff is super nice! Happy to answer questions and offer advice.

Nice, clean, pet friendly campground. They have water and bathrooms on site. Host Jamie was so helpful. They have day use passes as well with a picnic area with grills over looking the lake. The only downside is that folks pick their spot on the water, set up their shade, toys, towels and leave it there for the next day. There is very little opportunity to score a spot by the water to camp for the day.

Super clean and well maintained. We don't camp but have used the picnic area many times. Right on the lake, with beautiful views. A day pass is $10. The staff was super friendly. Close enough to Fresno for a day trip. While we have never used the campground, a drive through shows recently updated sites, clean and roomy.

Awesome campground. The campsites are great, lots of space and very clean. Good amount of space between campground so you get some privacy. The lake nearby is beautiful and the town close by looks pretty and has everything you need. Would definitely recommend.

We loved this campground ! The hosts were super nice, the site was quite big ( we have a huge tent). Vault toilets were a first for me, but they were quite clean and not smelly. Only bad things I can remember is that some campers were quite noisy until really late at night ( we were not close, so not really an issue for us, but they must have been a pain in the ass for their neighbors...) ( We were on site 24)

The staff was the worst. They need to communicate more, they gave me a ticket after they told me I could park in an extra parking. The only sincere one was Barbara. She was very sweet and helpful. The lady with the braids and the bald guy were yelling at me when I approached the booth to try to fix the confusion that was going on with the parking. They were pointing their fingers and telling me I was being disrespectful for questioning them about their communication. My family has been coming here for years and have had at least one problem every time. We will NOT be coming back.

I love this place!!! 3 rd year family camping trip to this place and it’s only gotten better!!! Only bad thing is the quiet time at 10 but it’s understandable it being a family campground. You can still talk and be awake you just have to keep quiet for the other people trying to get some rest to wake up the next day to enjoy the sun rise. The water in the morning seems to be warmer than the day time for some reason. All in all AWESOME place.

Very clean vault toilets, and many nice secluded sites. However the campground has a lot of hills, so if you can't do a steep hike to the bathroom make sure you pick a good site. Camp Hosts are very helpful, call them if you need guidance picking a site to book. Lake access is a little difficult to get to, not very accessible, however there are a plenty of easy access picnic tables in the day use area, and the scenery can't be beat.

Campground was well maintained and bathrooms were pretty clean. The tent sites are a little bit small....but we have a large tent! The only negative thing was that the hosts did not enforce the quiet hours, a large group of people were drinking heavily and playing very loud music until 3am in the morning!

This campsite was so wonderful. It was clean and spacious! It was a very short walk to the lake from our site. Other sites were closer! We had a medow at the edge of our site. Town was a 1 min drive or 10 min walk for Shaver Pizza. We will definitly be returning!!! I recommend taking your family for a stay you will not regret.

We had a great time at Dorabelle! Shaver Lake was super close and the campsites were clean. The camp hosts were very nice and helpful. The other campers were a pleasure to meet. We look forward to coming back again.

The location was beautiful, the host was super helpful and friendly. Signage getting to it was difficult and gps kept taking us someplace different. The sites were very small and narrow, specifically the pad for a trailer. Because we have a travel trailer and the stress of parking in such a narrow space, we probably will look for someplace else next time.

This is a fairly recently renovated camp site with very clean with lots of well kept bathrooms, zen manicured fire pits with swing out grill (I kid you not, they rake zen patterns around the fire pit between guests), large bear boxes and very flat camping spots. There were a few things of note that stopped this being a 5-star experience:1. It's actually fairly expensive per night for a simple camp site. I think the lowest rate was at least $25 a night when we stayed in late summer.2. It's reasonably large and the waterfront access is open to non-campers. So if you want to go down to the water with a bunch of people and stuff to spend the day they charge extra for day parking so you may end up driving down, dropping stuff off, going back to your camp and then walking down - and the reverse at the end of the day. As far as I know there is no discount on day parking even if you're paying $50+ a day for a spot.3. The camp hosts who keep it so clean are sticklers for the rules so make sure you know them. They will also come stomping through your site at all hours - if you're a light sleeper then ear plugs are advised - which is probably always because this site can attract a younger crowd from Fresno here to party for the weekend. You just never know when there will be late night shenanigans. If you're in a trailer you'll probably be okay - in a tent YMMV. The hosts don't seem to patrol beyond 10pm so that party that roles in at 11pm or midnight and starts up - you'll have to go complain yourself.4. Some of the individual spots have really quite small camping areas - you might barely get too smallish tents on them. So if you are splitting your site choose carefully. They have double sites for family groups. There is a video on YouTube that has a picture of every single site and a few recommended ones for shade called out. Some sites have no shade, some partial and some full. You never seem to be far from a well lit bathroom and potable water so that's nice.

Beautiful campground...HOWEVER, the majority of the hosts (with the exception of a younger gentleman) were quite rude. Our guests were received with snarky remarks about the size of their camper, they interrupted our church service to point out some minor parking details, the elderly lady was rude to our son-in-law when he just wanted to drop off our grandsons, upon leaving one elderly man shook his head and gave us dirty looks for being slightly delayed upon our exit, at times you are not even allowed into the campground to check out campsites, etc (too many to mention all!). We have a large church group who camp together each year, and had a similar experience last year, but we believe in second chances. We are tax-payers who pay these hosts their salaries. We are trying to escape the rudeness of everyday life. We spend a lot of money to enjoy nature only to be treated with disrespect...it's disheartening. We understand that there are rules, and we did our very best to obey them, but your hosts need to learn what it means to have good customer service. I don't think we will be returning. I would rate this a (4+) had it not been for the hosts. :(

Staff was very friendly, my neighbors were quiet at lights out, plenty of shade, firewood offered for sale, bathrooms were not gross, saw some deer, only $38 for a tent spot which had fire pit with grill, level ground for tent, parking space, table, and bear box. I would recommend thus to a friend, and I'll be back! It's definitely "public" so not secluded, if you want that try Lake Edison (not to be confused with nearby Camp Edison) or Redinger Lake, but with much less amenities at the latter. Overall, very happy camper!

Dorabelle campgrounds is a place that is just breath taking. After coming to Dorabelle I didnt want to leave or return home. There was just so much beauty surrounding us. I encountered probably only 3 wasps on our trip which was a relief considering when we visited lake tahoe there were swarms of wasps at our campsite. The sites have partial shade and it worked out perfectly. The campgrounds are clean and very spacious. The fire pits have a nice grill that rotate off and over the fire for easy cooking. The locker to store your food in was perfect. We took a massive cooler and it fit right into the locker with extra space for other things. There are bathrooms on every corner which is really nice and accessiable. The ONLY thing we dislike about that is the stentch because they are vault bathrooms. In the morning it isnt so bad but when you use it during the day the smell is overwhelming I nearly vomitted going into the restroom. The bathrooms are well stocked with toilette paper. There are no SHOWERS. The water faucets at your campsite are not for washing your belongings so bring a refillable water gallon jug to fill with clean water and clean your dishes at your campsite. The drains at the water faucet at your campsite arent for dumping any liquids or food. The lake, Shaver Lake is nearby (walking distance) it is absolutely gorgeous and breath taking. We will definitely visit again. Our host Penny was delightful and very nice. After our drive it was refreshing to check in with her and she made us feel so comfortable we felt right at home.Make sure if you are camping during this time to over pack with many blankets. In the day time you dont need jackets or sweaters its beautiful sun light out but always pack hoodies and beanies and gloves. We made the mistake of not packing hoodies or beanies and extra blankets that we almost froze to death at night. It is extremely COLD at night. I had my socks on, jacket on and pants on in my sleeping bag and I was still shivering, I did not get any sleep for the two nights we were there. Bring lots of tea bags or coffee for hot drinks. We brought two coolers filled with drinks and ended up drinking tea 90% of the time we were there. They dont sell wood at the camp site so be prepared before you pull up to Dorabelle campgrounds. We had no problems with neighbors.Lastly enjoy your visit. We cant wait to return next month but prepared this time.

This campground is beautiful and we had a fun 2 days going down to the lakeshore and swimming. the bathrooms are vault but the staff does a really good job of coming by and cleaning them a couple of times a day. so our only real issue with the bathroom was bugs. It's June, and we noticed a lot of mama spiders with babies on their backs. also small beetles and other nuisance bugs that land on you. but we were glad there wasnt a bee problem! and the bugs mostly went to sleep by sundown. they were annoying but not at all a dealbreaker. the really cool thing was that you are allowed to burn any down wood you find on the floor, which is a rare thing and saved us a bunch of money not having to buy bundles of wood. the weather was perfect, not too hot or too cold. we would definitely go back! oh and we were in sites 43 & 44 which are in the corner of the campground and right next to a restroom. we didnt have any neighbors for all three nights.

We had a lot of fun. Nice access to the lake. The only main issue is the vault toilets, they were clean and stocked; however it is still just a hole in the ground.
