This is a newer facility. Easy entrance and exit. Ample parking with handicap access. There is a pet area that is well maintained. Electric charging station is available. The restrooms were neat. Maintenance crew was onsite. Trash and recycle bins were available.

Bizarrely nice rest area. The bathrooms were huge and very clean and had surprisingly nice design. The water fountains worked, the parking was ample, and there was very general information signs about the area. There was also a somewhat disturbing memorial to James Dean, describing all of the gruesome details of his death seemingly for no good reason.

Very modern facility with handicap restrooms. A small pet area is well maintained. There are a variety of beverage vending machines. Several picnic tables are available. There is a substantial amount of information about the area and the area's history.

01/12/2024 I didn't see any workers this time . But usually there always cleaning the grounds and bathrooms. And it's nice stopping at a clean place. I appreciate it and want them to know.

It's clean. I feel safe there. They have both private and family restrooms. There are vending machines, water fountains and space to move around.

I always stop on my way to Fresno. The bathrooms are usually clean. It has a dog area. It also has EV charging (not sure what kind because I don't have an electric car.

This rest stop is an absolute must to take a much needed break. The restrooms are very clean and well stocked and maintained. They have quite a few vending machines that have a copious variety of items. A very nice doggie area and it was informative and interesting to read the literature regarding everything around there. A big plus for ease of entering on and off the busy highway.

Easy in and out. Decent bathrooms. The place looks like it's pretty well maintained. There are usually quite a few people around, and it is well lit at night. Overall, it's very good for a rest stop.

Very nice treat stop. It has clean rest rooms and vending machines. There are also information signs about the surrounding area. Nice place to stop.

I dunno if I just missed the sign but I ended up in the truck area & taking up a HUGE parking spot 😅 reviews made it sound a bit more special & it really wasn't. you literally have to make a left turn crossing freeway traffic going northbound & again when you exit - I don't need such anxiety. I'm glad the rest area is here en route to Big Sur via the I-5 & got my power nap in.

Interesting panels telling you about how the area was developed and who lived there. Was a bit confused some of the men's restrooms were locked. I did see two to three people working around the site. So it was very clean. And easy to get on and off the highway

I've never written a review on a rest stop before but felt compelled to do so after stopping at the Shandon Rest Area this past weekend. We use Highway 41/46 to travel between Northern California and the Central Coast on a semi-regular basis.The facilities are clean, modern and designed well. If you happen to be passing through at the right time of year you will see views of rolling green grass hills framed by blooming poppies. Captures what I remember California being when I was a kid.

I LOVE this peaceful rest area! It's always clean and I have never had any problems. HOWEVER I almost stepped on a big Rattlesnake right out the door of my truck by the electric vehicle charging place on the blacktop so be Xtra cautious as this is that time of season they are coming out of their dens! Take extra care that you don't run up on one while walking in the pet areas especially in the grass because if there was one there there are more. I'm just letting you know and I'm going to let caltrans know so maybe if it isn't already posted that there could be rattlesnakes then they may consider doing so. Other than that AWESOME place to rest safely and comfortably.

Great place to make a pit stop on your way to the beach. Bathrooms were fairly clean. Landscaping and overall condition of the site was very nice.

This has to be the cleanest, and best maintained Rest Area I have ever seen.Most public restrooms are terrifyingly filthy, and often you are luck if there is soap at the sinks, and toilet paper in the stalls.The bathroom here was spotless, and showed that whoever maintained it really cared.Kudos to the support staff.

I had to make a quick "pit stop", as it were, and this was the available rest stop. It was clean, well taken care of, and at the right place at the right time.
