LOVE THIS PLACE. Our favorite ice cream in Sonoma county. If you go here and don’t get Mimi’s Mud, you’re missing out. Always fresh and love the seasonal flavors. Ice cream ordering is different as you don’t get to see them all in the case, but they still get it scooped or made quickly and you get to enjoy ASAP. The affogato and sundaes are great as well, but a mini waffle with Mimi’s Mud is where it’s at.

Delicious ice cream. Small store. Parking can be a challenge. Took a while to get the ice cream, but worth the wait. Several vegan options.

Absolutely excellent ice cream. I tried the strawberry and raspberry ice cream and both were amazing. Honest this was pretty perfect ice cream. I don't think I'd change anything about it from texture to flavor or whatever. The location can get very crowded and isn't very comfortable. I'd suggest you order to go. Nice that it's close enough to the Barlow for a short walk between drinking.

Best ice-cream, sorbet! What is great to me is that their ice-cream has less sugary taste to it.

I've been a big fan of Screamin Mimi's for years, and I still am in some aspects. After some internal debate I'm writing this review because the serving process and atmosphere have had a decline in recent years. I understand not everything can/should be the same as it was before, and while there may be some changes for the better I am disappointed with my recent visits.Starting with what I enjoy, the ice cream is delicious. I love that it's made in house with local ingredients, and it shows in the quality. The Mimi's mud is the best in my opinion, but the other flavors are also above par. The location is good and I'm happy that it's still a busy spot. My family is also glad the parking spots in front are available again. The employees are helpful and cheerful, and I have had zero issues with customer service. I'm giving 4 stars because I still recommend this spot to visitors and locals alike. If you're just in town and looking for a great ice cream place, you can stop reading here. The first thing I notice that I do not like is that the space to sit inside is very cramped compared to how it used to be. The whole dining room layout is overall kind of awkward, one of the corners is tighter than before because of the trash cans new home, and the two other tables are right next to the usually crowded line and waiting area. As for the ordering process, it is only one group ordering at a time as opposed to one group per employee. I know this is the norm at some ice cream places, but I always liked the way Mimi's did it. This also often leads to watching your ice cream slowly melt behind the counter while the other orders in your group are filled. Before, it was nice to be able to see the flavors and taste in front of the display (you can still taste the ice cream, it's just awkward in my opinion. They also have pictures of the current flavors on the wall). After inquiring we were also informed today that they no longer use reusable glasses for shakes and sundaes, which is a dissapointment after previously admiring Mimi's for being environmentally conscious (though they still have compostable cups and spoons). My main gripe is that the ice cream is no longer sold by the weight. I understand why they had to change their system in the beginning of the pandemic, but I don't understand why it can't be implemented again. To me and my friends/family, this is what set Mimi's apart. The flexibility of being able to get exactly how much you want for a fair price was unique, and satisfying to the stomach and wallet.Besides all that, there's just tiny, insignificant things I miss about the atmosphere. The pet contest, the world visitors map, the suggestion box, I could go on but I also can acknowledge things like this are not at the top of priorities and I'll accept that. As much as I enjoy this place, I felt the need to write this review in hopes that I can at least put my opinions out there that I know other regulars share.

Great originals. We had the lavender and orange cardamom - both excellent. The "regular" flavors (vanilla and chocolate) weren't impressive, and the brownie in the sundae didn't cut it.

I’ve been going to screaming Mimi’s for years and years and it was always a spot I looked forward to visiting when I was in town. However, I visited recently (haven’t been around the area much since pre covid) and wow, this place went completely downhill. They used to have tons of cute tables for indoor seating, and the walls always used to be filled with art for sale from local artists. This truly used to be a perfect quaint little local spot. There was a map that people from all over could put pins in where they were from, and it was just such a personable place. Now, they have their menu plastered on giant ugly screens, and they’ve greatly decreased their seating inside due to them extending the counter out?? You can’t even stroll through and see the ice cream behind the glass like you used to! I understand people had to adjust dining during Covid but there’s no reason now that they cant bring things back like it used to look. It’s not personable anymore, it’s completely sterile and there’s nowhere to sit inside anymore. I was very very extremely disappointed. And to top it all off the ice cream didn’t taste the same, it tasted store bought. This used to be one of my favorite places and I’m sad to see that it’s gone so far down in terms of customer service and flavor. Won’t be back for a long time, if at all. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because of the nostalgic memories I have of this place.

A Sebastopol institution, Screamin Mimi's has it all - super delicious handmade ice cream, attentive friendly staff, and a convenient location next to the downtown Square. A favorite of locals and tourists alike, the line can grow down the block even on cold days, but it moves quickly and you can order some items ahead (see Express items in review pics) if you are in a rush. Enjoy your waffle cone, split, sando, or sorbet at their al fresco tables or in the adjacent Square. Yum!!

I opted for the fresh local strawberry ice cream and local raspberry sorbet. Both were fantastic and I was very excited to see them using fresh and local ingredients. My girlfriend got the Mimi’s Mud and also enjoyed it thoroughly.

This is always a fun place and popular with all ages. Great place to take the kids. The waffle cones are big and delicious. You can choose how much ice cream you want - not just by scoop but also size of scoop since you pay for the weight. Wonderful flavors like English Toffee with almond and entire chunks of toffee - yummy! The shakes are delicious as well. There is space to sit inside at happily colorfully painted tables and chairs, and also some outside seating, albeit on a rather busy street. However, a nice little park is just a couple of minutes by walking away.

Great ice-cream and sorbets. I like of their idea and concept of selling by weight rather than scoops because it allows you to freely mix and match. Came here expecting to try a couple of flavors but tried a whole lot!! Not sure how I would rank them because they were all excellent - mud pie, deep dark secret, cherry chip, the mango sorbet, orange, and then there was the spicy sweet raspberry jalapeño sorbet!!

I thought the ice cream was pretty good. I suspect it loses something though with the Covid setup. Perhaps I would have been more impressed w/ being able to see the choices and what not. I expect to go back one day and then update this review. But as it stands, my Sunday was OK I guess, I liked the other Ice Cream I got in Sebastopol better though.

Beautiful ice cream shop, all the ice cream is made on site and sold by weight. They always have interesting flavors and you can sample whatever flavor you want! Great place for the entire family or a great dessert place for a date!

Best ice cream in Sonoma county! All the flavors are delicious (haven't tried them all yet but based on what I've already had)! Line can get a little long if going during peak hours but usually moves faster than you would expect.

It's ok, a bit disappointed in my Husband's 2 scoop Sundae. It was either not 2 scoops or the smallest scoops ever. My daughter and I got the Gluten Free ice cream Sammies, they were very salty not as flavorful as I would have liked. I'm GF so I was happy to find a GF treat.

I'll start with the bad. I've been going here for over 20 years. They originally charged by weight. During covid, they changed that method and now have a set price for their items. I've been a few times since they changed their pricing and always felt it was a good value for what you paid, but today, NOT! My partner and I both got chocolate sundaes. The whipped cream was piled high, so we couldn't see the ice cream till we ate it down a little. When we did get to the ice cream, it was no more than a few table spoons' worth, including the melted ice cream too. As a professional chef, I know my measurements very well. This was the weakest scoop of ice cream ice ever had in my life! An average scoop should be 4 ounces or a half cup. This was nowhere near that. I'd say a quarter cup at best! I never leave bad reviews but it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to say something. Hoping they retrain their employees to give a decent sized scoop, or go back to the per weight method. The good part was, it did taste good, for the few bites that we did get.

I love this place! I have been coming here since the first opened. I really do like the pre Covid set up though. It seems to be more crowded and unorganized now. I haven’t been there for few months but last week my ice cream size got much smaller and taste seems a bit off. Not as good. Not sure if they changed the recipes. Still my favorite ice cream though!

We waited in line for at least 10 minutes, so people must like this place. I can't understand why. It's just ice cream. Seems more of a tradition than a really great spot. I don't live in the same state. If I did, I still wouldn't spend the effort we did to get there. On the other hand, if that's the only ice cream in the area, which would be sad, maybe I'd go back.I usually just go to the grocery store and use my own blender. There you have it.

I tried a couple of their ice creams and the first thing that got my attention was the excessive amount of sugar in the ice cream. In this era the majority of people prefer sugar free or small amounts of sugar in their ice cream. i hope management pays attention to this matter. the place was packed and the atmosphere was great. this is a great place for family fun. Go there!
