At the top of the hill on Noche Buena sits my childhood, with memoried of Garbage pail kids, Now-N-Later sticks and Grape Crush for about a buck. This place was one of the first places I took my son when he first visited, so he could get a taste of where I grew up.Every time I go home I stop by here, get a sandwich, buy a few things, and am thankful something of Seaside's past survives. The inside is as I remembered and the neighborhood people still shop there. This place is the definition of classic and working class California, and it makes happy to see it. So much of Seaside is going the way of Monterey, and so much has changed. But places like Mal's aren't just a museum, but are a living breathing connection to the past, and still serving people today. Hope this place never leaves, and that I can still get a sandwich the next time I come home to visit.

Mals is a local legendary sandwich and grocery spot . If your from Seaside you know about "The Bomber" and love them . Owners are long a time local family and have done tons over the years for this community. Definitely recommend to everyone I know. That old school family deli vibe. Got to love it !

If you grew up in Seaside this is the hidden gem for us locals. If I’m having a bad day I’ll go pick me up a bomber with everything on it. On another note they have some great ice cream in the back too. If you’re looking for comfort foods or just need a last minute items they usually have it. My daughter likes to stop there for a big pickle and some pizza usuallyit’s a all around vibe for sureFYIIf you going during a regular lunch time you may hit a line but it’s worth the wait

The owner never washes his hands properly before making a sandwich and will handle cash often before making them. I grew up eating bombers here and it took me way too long to realize how unhygienic this place is. Never again.

Great sandwiches! Recommend this place. I had The Bomber, roast beef, ham, turkey, bacon, and Swiss cheese on a ciabatta roll. They have two tables inside and outside for you to dine out. Many dessert and beverage choices. Easy parking.

Love the sandwiches there, but more so, i definitely love my dear friend Dennis and his employees . They are always very friendly to their customers. I try to stop by whenever I'm in Seaside to grab a "Bomber" and say hi.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Sandwiches there are good, but horrible customer service. You would think the owner wouldn't be so rude, or make up "rules" on the spot. I called this morning and kindly asked if I can place and order over the phone. It was after 9 am, owner said, "we don't take over the phone orders."Granted I'm pressed for time so I go in and was just about to order when his phone rang, he answered and placed an order for a sandwich!!!Then when I brought it up asking, because I for one have placed a phone order there before and he says, "I make the rules, I'm the owner."I left after he wouldn't even let me pay for my order while ordering it 😠Yea never going there again. You are too political anyways for a sandwich shop. But you make the rules!I'll keep you in prayer cos the way you run your business is shifty just like your "rules".

The bomber sandwich is the bomb. Philly cheese steak and breakfast sandwich are so good. You won't find bread snuggling the center portions like these sandwiches. I don't think you can even buy the bread at any of the bakeries. Taco Tuesdays is nice.

Excellent sandwiches. Try the bomber. The owner does so much for the community and local youth. Literally, when you patronize this local, quaint grocery store, you are supporting your community. The breakfast sandwiches are huge and Taco Tuesday is just lovely.

One of the most underestimated foods is a solid sandwich. Often some aspects of a sandwich may work but the bread is too hard, there's not enough meat, lacks overall flavor, too big etc... To find a sandwich where all the elements work together to compose that ideal combination is rare, especially in our area. I had the Bomber sandwich last week and it was the quintessence of the perfect sandwich. It was deeply flavorful and the bread was so soft. The thing that surprised me most was the texture. The bacon thick and still crispy so the sandwich had a crunch to it that made it especially wonderful. I can't stop thinking about it and can't wait to go back to have it again and try their other things. I couldn't recommend it more.

The Bomber sandwich is good. Mal's BLT is the most INCREDIBLE sandwich and best BLT I have had in my 53 years on this planet. Dennis, (the owner), makes this market deli and shop worth the visit!

Have walked into this store twice in the last year while visiting family and the negative energy / vibe in this establishment is horrendous !!! I came in last time with both of my grandchildren and my grandson started crying for no reason. I think he felt the vibe. I went to the register to pay and was not greeted warmly, as a matter of fact, I was not greeted at all. I was asked if I wanted a bag for my purchases, and I said yes. The owner just threw a bag on the counter. He didn't bag them and he didn't thank me for patronizing his store. I have no clue how or why people come here. I never leave bad reviews, I believe this is my 2nd bad review ever, and it is completely deserving. I will not ever come back to this dark place.

My first and last visit to Mal's Market. I saw some negative reviews recently about unsanitary conditions, but wanted to see for myself as reviews can be hit or miss. This was a huge mistake!When I entered the store, the person at the counter was not wearing a mask in spite of health code policy mandating it in the middle of this pandemic. Another man at the cash register was checking people out, handling cash and credit cards, and then took my sandwich order. He started making the sandwiches without washing his hands or wearing gloves and just dug right into the prep bowls, contaminating not just my sandwiches but all future sandwiches for the day. I got out of line to pick out a bag of chips and debate whether I would just walk out of the store and saw the sandwich maker go back to the cash register, handle money and then make another sandwich again without washing his hands. I was instantly sick to my stomach at how unsanitary this place is! In the middle of a crisis or not, it is absolutely imperative that food handlers wash their hands before making food. This is common sense that unfortunately this place does not have.

Great service. I appreciate the social contributions they have made for the community like donations to the local dog park, providing goods to a diverse community, and allowing infrastructure contractors to use their parking lot. However, -1 star for the gaudy political rhetoric printed out on 8x11 papers scotch taped around the market.

Family friendly little market with everything you need within walking distance. And seating if you want to sit and enjoy their famous bomber (I suggest requesting extra spreads for extra flavor).

MAL'S MARKRT: This is one of the older family owned market places. This a is is down to earth home market friendly pleasant and honest . They may preferably have you wear a mask but they sure don't cover up one of the best sandwiches in calif. If you haven't had a sandwiche from this market along with there great tasting pasta salads, you will be driving miles after having your fist sandwich , you will never see so much meat IN A SANDWICH there the BOMB! . Thats what there called the BOMBER. THANKS GUYS SEE YOU SOON.

I was told about Mals and tried the Bomber OMG I had ordered the full size and ate it had to order a second one took it home to my wife , needless to say she loved it as well . Every time were in the area we stop and get a sandwich from there .

Sunday morning they serve freshly made birria, and the quesadilla tortillas are hand made. They also serve a lot more food, but I was hungry for some birria tacos🤤

This store is very convenient in its location, but the proprietor never seems to be in a good mood. I get the feeling that I am disturbing him just by coming up to the register with a Sprite and bag of Doritos.
