September 2021Sunday afternoon drive 'out in the country where CA 78 meets CA 79 at 'downtown' Santa Ysabel. If this location sounds familiar, that's because Dudley's Bakery is across the 78 from here.We stopped by the farmers market next door and then strolled into this quaint yet modernized general store. Built in the early 1900s, it used to be the local Mercantile as well as post office.Oh my gosh - this place is fully stocked with most everything needed in a home project (see photos). And, there is a good selection with multiple units of it all (not just barely stocked with lots of bare shelves.) If they don't have it, you probably don't need it.Also, there is an antique store attached - check out the vinyl LPs.We bought a 20 lb sack of bird seed that Christin recommended. She and husband Ryan own the store. It looks great and is well tended.Drop on in and you are likely to stimulate the economy with something you need or want.

The small premium for the convince of not having to drive all the way into town is well worth it, especially since the selection has never let me down. I really love stopping in during the winter mornings when the wood stove is keeping everything nice and toasty!

Fabulous restoration by the San Diego Save Our Heritage Organisation! Step inside and into an old-fashioned general store with lots of great items, some locally sourced. The original store scale is still there in the side room. This is a great place to get information about the area, including the newly restored Warner's Ranch/stage stop just down the highway. I like to browse through the collection of antiques and collectibles for purchase and always find something interesting. It's a great place to stop on your way to Julian or Borrego Springs. A favorite!
