Love this country bakery that is everything you want in homemade baked goods! Pies that taste like Grandma’s and fresh out of the oven! Or take home to bake yourself so you fill your home with the same delicious aroma you get when you first walk into California Mountain Bakery! The assortment of amazing breads, cookies and brownies will blow you away! And the Chicken Pot Pies are addictive! Unfortunately they don’t make them during the holidays because they are made from scratch and are time consuming. But they come back after the holidays so don’t miss your chance to try them! I promise they won’t disappoint!The beautiful people who work there are sweet, caring and dedicated to making your trip to Julian memorable and satisfying! I never come to Julian without taking home one of their Apple Pies and Chicken Pot Pies. They were voted best Apple Pie in Southern California and trust me, they got that right! I think their pies & breads are the best in the world!!! ❤️

My fiancé had been saving a pie for me that has been in the freezer for two months. When I came to visit from Washington, we had the pie for dessert and I was hesitant to try some because I don’t normally like pie, but the moment I took a bite of their pie it was so delicious I can’t stop eating it. So my fiancé and I drove 3 hours just to get to their bakery to get five more amazing pies and their service was unforgettable!!!! Thank you.

Raul, One of the Owners, was Very Friendly and Knowledgeable on Bakery Goods. My Wife Learned a Thing or Two From His Vast Knowledge. The Pecan and Apple/Cherry Pie was Excellent!! Everything I've ever dreamed of when it comes to a dessert stop!! We didn't even need to drive the extra miles for the famous Julian brand apple pies, as the ones here in California Mountain Bakery are among the best weve had! We settled on the Dutch apple pie, perfectly baked with the most satisfying crunchy crumb topping . We also tried the apple turnover which had the most tender , crisp pastry and perfectly sweetened apple filling. On top of that, customer service here is above and beyond , bathroom is clean, and tons of seating in their dining room. Lots of other offerings here as well such as savory pies, drinks, breads, snacks, etc. We'll be back!!!

Awesome little bakery in Julian. Tons of options to select from. Plenty of parking in front and the place is very clean. We got two breakfast sandwiches, apple crumb pie and a blueberry muffin. Everything was delicious.

As a native Californian and born in San Diego county, I am an expert on delicious pie. I would rate the leading pie companies in the Julian area this way:1) California Mountain Bakery2) Mom’s Apple Pie3) Julian Pie CompanyCalifornia Mountain Bakery wins my approval every time, because they are that good. From the crust to the delicious fillings of the varying pies they offer, to the difference pastry’s they bake. Oh but they also bake bread and their olive bread and potato bread is literally to die for. I have never had better potato bread in my life. Perfection. I know people that drive 2 hours or more out of their way passing fine bakery in their own right, just to pick up, bakery goods at a little shop in Wynola just outside Julian. It’s worth it.

I am guilty of a type of snobbery I think many of us locals are. We love Julian for its old timey charm and authentic vintageness, if that’s a word. The building that this bakery sits in is the antithesis of anything cool because it is old: this building is big and new and stucco and ugly - but I will officially never let that keep me from coming here ever, ever again!!! You can smell the goodness for miles, the pastries and pies and biscuits are melt in your mouth, the menu is simple and the service is precious. Sweet, professional and cheerful. AND THAT BATHROOM. Will definitely be back. I don’t even care about where it is anymore.

First timer. October 4, 2018; had/bought a piece in their apple-rhubarb pie to go. The business itself is unassuming from the street, located in a small business complex, (see pics). Once inside;. The majority of the business is deducted to the art of baking All of the pies and other baked goods do look very tempting. Apparently, according to a local , this bakery utilizes local fruit/ingredients as opposed to others in Julian. The one piece of pie I tasted was excellent, tart and not too sweet and a nice texture on the palate. Service: friendly and sincere. The rating based on all that would be in the range of (4.4-4.7). Enjoy!

EVERYONE MUST TRY THE MANGO APPLE PIE! The filling isnt too sweet, the crumbs are PERFECT, and it's just a perfect combo altogether. I always buy the whole pies during the holidays to give to my friends and family and they LOVE em.This is the only place in Julian that offers the mango apple pie! 5/5 stars!!!!!!

Absolutely love this bakery! Always consistent, everything delicious and super friendly. Best hand pies, sticky buns, brownies and of course Apple Pie. They also have deli sandwiches and some savory items. Go early, they do sell out by closing. Totally worth the drive up the mountain.

Julian was way too crowded and the pie-lines were endless there, so we decided to find our perfect apple pie elsewhere - lucky enough, we stumbled upon this mountain bakery, all along with their friendly staff and made from scratch just out of the oven pies - we ordered classic apple pie and apple-peach pie, both to die for! Will definitely come back for another slice if the road takes me there again.

Awesome apple pie get vanilla ice cream not the cinnamon unless you plan on eating it by itself. Staff very friendly deserving a tip. Great pie best in Julian and the best price for your money. They don't price gouge here. Please don't miss this awesome pie restaurant.
