Retail by appointment is ridiculous. Bike shops should be helpful and accessible for members of the community that need parts to help them get to where they are going. If you're hesitant to be that kind of a contributing member of the community because of all the derelicts, perhaps you are in the wrong neighborhood.

My partner and I rented a Bike Friday tandem for a 3-day break from the city. Geoff really went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of despite life throwing some significant curveballs his way, and made sure his assistant Justin could meet us at the shop, get the bikes fitted, and set us up with lights and the necessary kit. The machine itself rode beautifully and we'd gladly come back if we ride in the area again!

Geoffrey made a bike rental/outing for myself and my two boys (age 8 and 12) a doable, positive experience! He went above and beyond to make sure the bikes fit my kids, particularly my 8 year old, gave me a lesson in everything I needed to know, helped me load the bikes, and even offered to come pick the bikes up for me when we were done. The bikes themselves were fantastic and we had a great day out riding, but more than that, Geoffrey’s customer service and genuine caring that I had a good day with my boys riding is what will guarantee that if I ever rent bikes again in the area, I will return to his shop and recommend him to others! My wife and I planned our own 5-day, self-supported tour of the Santa Rosa area, and rented the Smolenski tandem from Geoffrey. He made sure we were set up appropriately, helped us out with maps and gear, and provided advice on road conditions (traffic, road condition, shoulders, etc.) around our planned routes. He also took the time to make sure that both my wife and I were appropriately fit to the bike, and provided us with everything we would need to make minor changes as we rode. He even met us based on our own schedule! The bike performed fantastically, and we had the vacation of a lifetime!

Attempted to purchase a hard to find accessory for my Tern bike online. Had my order cancelled and was accused of fraud because I live in Australia. I still haven’t received the funds back on my credit card I used for the purchase, but have received a long winded email about how it’s such a terrible world we live in where you can’t trust anyone.
