Excellent aquatic selection. Unfortunately the staff have no idea about fish care, but that’s how it is in most big chain pet stores. If you plan on getting pet fish, please do your research first, they’re living animals, not house decorations. Great selection of cat toys as well, my cats love the plastic balls with the bells inside of them.

There were no price tags on items. I was trying to buy doggy bags, they had them near the register where you stand in line to wait for an open cashier so i had to just choose randomly without knowing the price or hold up the line... felt like a carnival game and i was just ripped off. Other than that it's a decent petco.

I want to take a moment to celebrate Charlie and Alicia! They were so amazing and beyond helpful Charlie step off the register to help me and recommended the best dog food when I tell you, my dog is chowing down on this food. He’s eating around the wet food to eat the dry food that Charlie recommended so thank you 1 million times Charlie. I also wanted to take a moment to celebrate Alicia. She was so nice to me and PRINCE and she recommended the best flea and tick shampoo. My dog is so happy, and he’s no longer scratching and itching so thank you Charlie and Alicia for your outstanding help

One of the worst petcos I’ve ever been too. We waited 20 minutes to buy three plants for our fish tank the one lady I asked ended up leaving before ever helping us. I eventually asked one of the employees at the dog grooming place to help us and he was extremely kind and helpful then the manager came by and told us everything in the Fish department was labeled incorrectly because they are “live animals not products.” He then goes and tells us the $4.99 assorted plants that were labeled for the whole tank are now $16 plants. So after 30 minutes of waiting we left empty handed.

Horrible grooming service! We arrived on time to get a groom and waited to be greeted for 5 minutes - when we were finally asked if we needed help, they refused to take us because we were “5 minutes late”… needless to say we took our business to Healthy Spot where we were taken last minute the same day.

I'm going to start with the positives of this store. The employees have always been very nice and helpful when I've visited. Its a good store for pet care accessories and materials.But here come the negatives. I have recently become very into aquariums and own two. My issues are 100% with the aquatics department. Every time I have bought fish from this store they have been sick. I bought a Betta for my 10 gallon, within a day he was noticeably covered with ich. I treated him and assumed I had just gotten bad luck. With my new tank I decided to purchase guppies. 8 beautiful fish. 3 of them died within two days. The rest of them now are sick with different ailments. One has an internal parasite, nearly all have ich and another has an awful fungal infection. All of these are very contagious and I don't doubt that all my fish are going to either be horribly sick for weeks or they are going to die. I bought these fish five days ago. I had my water tested in store and I was told it wasn't my water. So it is clear that there is an issue in aquatics. These tanks are cared for improperly. Every time I come without fail there are tons of dead fish just sitting at the bottom of the tanks. I am disappointed and implore everyone to not buy animals from this Petco. If it's this bad in aquatics, i'm afraid for how the birds, rodents and reptiles are treated. I will never buy another living animal from this location. Allen's Pet Center is a much better location with healthier and much more beautiful fish. I regret not going there beforehand. Please do better, you have a good and seemingly caring staff. I just wish the animals were given proper care.

Horrible treatment from Eleazar in grooming: I was 8-9 mins late, and they apparently have a 10-15 min late policy. He was extremely unpleasant right off the bat and acted like it was an extreme inconvenience for me to be there, almost unwilling and very unfriendly, not even cordial. I was deeply uncomfortable with even leaving my dog there, and very confused at his treatment of me, so I communicated this incident to management and left, dog unclean. Yes, I was late, but I was within the policy time. So upsetting. Rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. Never again.

Got a new puppy!! oh wait, now I need a million things for her. Off to PetCo with tons of questions.The sales associate, Andy, was very knowledgeable and friendly. I changed my mind a few times asked a million questions and he was patient and helpful the entire time. One of the best experiences in a store in quite a while. Thank you again Andy!!

So I went over to these store to buy food for my kitty and I love going to these location. The cashier Alex told me I have $5 rewards and if I wanted use it, she help me out by downloading the petco app and got my rewards, but that’s not it. What I really like about Alex that she was so patient, nice and love her customer service. Employees like her is what makes you go back to the same location. Thank you Alex.

More than half the reptiles for sale are in extremely bad shape. Malnourished, dehydrated or housed inadequately.They should not be allowed to sell animals they are incapable of caring for.In the picture, the large lizard is eating all the food and starving I s smaller tank mates.This is irresponsible animal husbandry.Shameful.

I shop here for the refillable 30 lb bucket of cat litter sand. It's the best deal on cat litter by far and you are not wasting any packaging materials as you reuse your bucket to refill it for years.

Sep 24 2023 Sunday around 11:30 am I went to Petco at 2910 wilshire Blvd Santa Monica CA 90403I was accompanied by my toddler and her small mini golden doodle 6 month old puppy .I can’t describe in words how much me and my toddler and her puppy were insulted discriminated against and treated badly at this location.There was only one female cashier at checkout on a busy Sunday . There was line . We waited patiently in line until our turn for checkout.We had 19 items in the basket . Rude female cashier told me you owe $240 something . I tapped my card and paid the amount in full. She pushed the bag towards me rolled her eyes and turned her head away . Then the guy that came to checkout after us she told him sorry for waiting . She can’t take her frustration out on us because she was the only cashier and because we had too many items to scan. Contrary to that she should had smiled at me my toddler my puppy and should had said thank you for spending $240 at Petco. She was extremely rude to my daughter when she asked a question. Let alone no one in store earlier helped us to find what we were looking for. The Petco guy that walked behind us while we were paying said loudly oh this dog ! Because he thought our puppy laying on the floor by me while I’m paying is blocking his way.After we paid I realized she had scanned one item twice which I believe was on purpose. I went back inside and asked to see the manager. This manager woman didn’t apologize either first she said we never make mistakes then she looked at our items and receipt and said yes I see this was charged and scanned double. Then refunded one of the double charge. Still very rude very indifferent. Just bad energy all over. No apology.I have been shopping at Petco a lot.But today me my toddler and her puppy had enough of disrespect. We will bycott Petco and will tell all our friends do the same .Plus Petco is a cruel dirty business.You could hardly find vegetarian or plant based brands for pets. After today experience I will never again do business with this rude people .

False advertising. Saw $9 clearance price for dog bed. Got to counter it was $49.99. Manager refused to give the advertised price. She said it was mislabeled and the actual items were out of stock. Shame on you Petco.

I bought a cat career on the 22 of December 2022. I asked 2 of the members that work there for help and no one did. So I decided to consult with the cash register and he professed to inform me that he had no idea. More accurate he stated that he didn’t know. So I checked out and purchased the item that I needed. Unfortunately the ticket flow into the street and I was not going to chase it. Later I found out that it was not the right one. Today I went to return it I explained what happen. The manager asked for my phone number. Phone number what are you talking about. He asked me if and wen I did the purchase I gave my phone #. I informed him that I was never asked for a phone number. Well after much I do over nothing I got him to reimbursed the item. Well my complaint is not about all this mass it is about the managers remark on saying do please remember to give your phone number next time you purchase something so we can avoid this mass. Well I have something to say next time do train your cash registers to ask for the phone number. And train them better wen a customer needs help. Thank you

Another woman and I had dog grooming appointments first thing in the morning, and the groomer no call no showed. I had to call back more than once to reschedule, and the grooming scheduler was not accommodating in the slightest. They actually didn’t acknowledge my missed appointment at all. I’m very disappointed in this experience and how PetCo has handled it. I’ve gotten the message that the customer is charged if they’re a no show, but the groomers can cancel with no forewarning.

The stylist was rude & careless. My pet is prone to ear & eye infections, the stylist didn’t take extra care as I asked & my pet came home with an eye infection.

My review is for a worker, Gabriel, who was in the store on 2/2/23 at 3:30 pm. I brought in my dog who is a bit fearful of strangers, we work with a trainer and have made great progress. He was walking down the aisle to show another customer where something was and starts trying to interact with my dog. He did not ask permission, just starts talking to her and reaching his hand out to her. I told him that she doesn’t like strangers and to not say hi. He said “oh she just needs to sniff me, right now she is just scared of the visual” as if I don’t understand the needs of my dog. I told him that his advice was unwanted and he said “oh no all advice should be wanted” in a condescending tone. I am disappointed that I needed to advocate for my dog like this, especially in a pet store. Also, that me advocating for my dog was responded to as if I was being rude.
