Zero customer service. Came to the self service wash and had to wait 20 minutes until they will get the station ready (attached picture is "ready" station, what they say). Being not from this area I was surprised to see this mess from big and established company like this. Not recommended!

If I could do negative stars I would. Went in to buy a beta and was very displeased with the condition the betas were in as well as the prices. Asked to politely speak with a manager about a price break on one of them considering it was a double fan tail (7.99) and had little to no tail at all as well as very discolored and small, she first offered me 10% off then after showing her the 3.99 priced ones that were semi healthy she offered 35%... I did not want this fish for free but was willing to pay 3.99 the lowest price for a beta fish... needless to say I did not leave with him and she told me he would be brought to the back until he’s 100% better... but there was multiple on the sales floor that needed to be put in the back.... especially when they’re priced from 3.99-19.99$. Will not be supporting or going back to this location.

Big shout out to Denisha. When I told her I couldn't find my regular dog treats, she went right to the stockroom and got me several bags, explaining that they were rearranging the section. She even brought a flavor I hadn't seen before. Saved me the trouble if ordering online and waiting a week. Excellent customer service!

It was very organized and clean! It was easy to find what you need. The workers were friendly and attentive. I have to say that I love that they have a dog grooming station you can take your dog to!:) I can't wait to take my dogs to use it.

Usually the staff is right on top of things and very helpful. However, on this particular day I walked past two employees to get to the aquarium area. After several minutes no one approached me. I went to an employee and asked for help. She told me she would call someone. Another 3 - 4 minutes went by and I'm still waiting. After that I just walked out.

I was given a puppy packet with a coupon stating I get $10 off a bath. The lady I scheduled the appointment told me since my puppy is 4 months that my dog would be charged $15 in total and with my coupon I would be paying $5. I ONLY agreed to this because of the price. I brought my puppy in on her scheduled day to be told it’s $31. I mention I was told I would pay $5 and they lowered my total to $15. STILL NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD. I can wash my dog and trim her nails myself for cheaper than $15. I will NOT be back and will be telling everyone to avoid you guys. Just want money and lie to their customers. Petsmart gained a loyal customer.

I like Petco, just not sure if I like this one in Santa Maria. Too small, customer service isn't that great, at least from my personal experience. Today, I had some cashier rude dude who still looked like he was in junior high school, utter something nasty under his breath towards me. Coward, say it to my face if you have something to say. I don't go shopping with my hard earned money just to be insulted by careless staff. Sloppy cashiers who just throw stuff in the bag. Needs better customer service. Only reason why I gave it two stars is that I don't think Petco is a bad company...the one in SLO is much nicer both in look and customer service.

If I could give -5 stars I would but that option is not available. I brought my beautiful long-haired Pomeranian to get a TRIM, when dropping her off I explain to them how you're not supposed to cut a Pomeranians hair short and definitely not take clippers to it at all! How there is a danger of it not growing back the correct way. They assured me that they understood what I was saying and that I just wanted her "cleaned up"and that they knew about the Pomeranian coat. When I picked her up, there were several employees that came to the front with my dog, almost as if they were ready for a fight (like they knew they had done something terribly wrong). My beautiful coated Pom no longer had her coat and appeared to have been shaved!!! But I remained calm because I had my 12-year-old daughter with me that would've been very upset if I acted like anything was wrong with her dog, so I just mentioned to them how it was much shorter than I had instructed them to cut and that I was concerned about her undercoat..the groomer that cut her hair assured me that she didn't hurt her undercoat and that it would be fine. While the other 3 employees stood there with a worried look on there faces! I wasn't sure what to do as the store was closing and I didn't want to upset my daughter and was just hoping it wasn't as bad as I felt it was at the time. So we went home, as I took her a little T-shirt off it was clear that they had took clippers to her, damaging her coat probably forever. It has been about a month, her fur is not growing, it's actually shedding horribly, and now she has developed skin issues! I cannot express how upset I am!! I don't understand how a groomer can be so careless and 100% just disregard a customers instructions?? Before bringing her to get groomed I researched the Pomeranian coat and all the dangers and side effects of grooming incorrectly and is why I spent probably 20 min explaining and making sure this grooming salon was familiar with grooming this breed. So my only conclusion is that she just didn't care and wanted to do what she wanted to do with MY DOG! And I paid her for it! And my dog may not ever be the same and is now suffering with a skin condition that I believe is due to her undercoat being disturbed. I can't turn back time but I wish I had read reviews prior to my visit as I see this is not the first time they have done this! I hope this helps someone else before they make the same mistake. These groomers at Petco Santa Maria are negligent PERIOD!! And I will NEVER step foot in that store agaIn!

Needed to help my elderly Mom to get her little doggie Daisy a long due grooming. So happy with the service , I believe Lindsay ( hope got that right) was the groomer and she was kind and listened and did a really great job with Daisy. We will be back! Thank you

We took our kids in to purchase our 1st guinea pig. That day the salesman was very courteous. Unfortunately, our furry family member got extremely sick and died 10 days later. The staff, especially the manager, showed no signs of sympathy for selling us a sick animal. The ER vet said the little guy was too young to fight off the viral infection that he most likely had when he was sold to us. He was fine one day, and gone the next. Please, do not buy any animal from Petco. The animals there are exposed to infectious diseases. PLEASE consider adopting from a rescue.

The people in the dog grooming department are not very helpful and a little rude and snappy and charge WAY too much. I’ll be going to Lemos for my supplies from now on and to a local groomer who charges way less and includes way more in their grooming packages.

The self serve dog wash is hands down the worst on the central coast. I've been here twice due to being in a hurry to get chores done on my only day off and, both times the tubs have been disgusting. They don't get cleaned after each use so there was hair from numerous dogs still in the tub when I showed up. Once I cleaned the tub myself and bathed my dog I tried to use the blow dryers but, they might be suitable for a super short hair dog like a bull dog or something but, any real amount of fur would be better suited to a ride in the backseat with the windows down... There was no need to attempt to dry my dog's paws as the floor had a half an inch of water on it so she just got wet again as we walked out. This honestly just makes my overall life a little more difficult because since I have to clean up this mess anyway I might as well stay home and save the $12 or drive 45 mins to the Lemos in Morro Bay to not have to stand in a puddle and clean up someone else's dog's hair... I guess I've always enjoyed being by the beach more anyway so off to Morro Bay I go next time around...

Usually can find what I need, but have to wait forever for someone to come to the register. Tonight they did not have what I needed so was going to have to go to another store. We had a few other things to purchase, but after waiting for 5mins at the register with no help we left our stuff at the register and left.

The best grooming experience ever Hannah was so kind and respectful and very kind to shadow I wish I can give 10 stars but I can't it won't let me but best experience ever best kind I like this store a lot better than the one in Arroyo grande even though the arroyo grande is closer to me but it's worth the drive because I know the groomers and the in people is here are nicer more respectful hanna did a good job of Probably one of the best bath jobs I have ever seen and Hannah was even nice enough to put bows and my dogs even though shadow doesn't like bows but it was very nice thought so Hannah thank you and thank you to all your staff thank you

Awesome place, good energy. I had a wonderful experience for my first time there really knowledgeable people in there making there bread and butter. SUPER HOT REALLY TALL GUY OMFG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn’t be anywhere else for my pet needs.

I never tried out Petco but once I visited the store I was impressed by all of the staff and items!
