Decent place. I would get brought here by my artsy friends who were on the hunt for supplies. Personally not my cup of tea, but this place is always managed to have everything they were looking for in stock. They always found employees willing to help them look for items and that's about all I could ask for as a hanger on. The place was also kept fairly clean so I have no complaints whatsoever.

Just had a horrible experience in this store. I live 30 miles from the store so visiting was a special trip. I found everything I was looking for. When I went to pay they wouldn't cash my $100. bill I was buying $38. worth of merchandise. the sales person said she didn't have change and asked if I could use a debit card. I didn't have one. I had about $25. in small bills. I can't believe a store of this size doesn't have access to make change for a customer. They had even cut fabric for me. There were 2 of us waiting to pay and I had to go look for someone to help us in the first place. I worked in retail for 30 years. This isn't the way to run a store. Michael's got my money today.

They didn’t have any of the items I was looking for. Bathrooms were closed over an hour before the store was closed. I wasn’t allow to use restroom because the employee cleaning them said no one was allowed to use them the rest of the night despite me almost peeing my pants. Very angry that a public restroom was closed and not allowed to be used. I understand that she was cleaning them, but to tell me that I wasn’t allowed to use them for the rest of the night is ridiculous!

I've been going to this joanns for some time now, I have gotten my serger and sewing machine here, and I always get my new fabric here. With such a wide range of colors and patterns and textures, it's my go to for sewing. One of the manager Adan is extremely helpful and kind to all the customers. He will try to give people the best experience, even if he's judging 3 costumers at a time. :) 🤩

At the time of my visit - not at all crowded, aisles fairly well stocked with products and being re-stocked as I watched. Plenty of employees to assist in answering questions and they were all friendly and polite. I was politely directed to what I wanted, found it easily, and then was able to spend the rest of my time just browsing. I saw a full aisle of clearance items, marked well down and I saw sale prices marked on books, there may have been in other areas that I wasn't shopping. The bathroom was clean - that's always nice! Then the checkout line was short, went quickly, and I could see the employees working there not only had a plastic divider from the customers like many other stores, but it looked like they also had plastic dividers between each other, I'm guessing because the space behind the counter wouldn't allow them to remain 6ft. away from each other while working there. If that's true then I am really impressed with Joann's commitment to employee safety. Lastly, the cashier who rang up my purchases made a point of asking if I had any coupons, and then with my permission, reviewed the open app on my phone to find multiple coupons to apply towards the items I bought that day. All in all, a good experience, and I will definitely go back to that Joann's.

Customer service wasn’t the most amazing and I tried to exchange an unopened pair of scissors I had bought just a few days before, and they would not exchange it. It was just a matter of I bought left handed, and I needed right handed, buying left handed was an obvious accident, but they wouldn’t exchange them.

Joann is a fun store to browse in. I always buy more than I originally planned. They have a great stock of fabric and most of the time what I need is on sale otherwise it's pretty pricey. They have a great variety of crafting items too. Every employee I came into contact with today in the Santa Maria store was friendly and went out of their way to help me.

I went in today to grab some crafting items. There was only one person in line in front of me, so i didn't think it would be a long wait. Well, I was wrong. The lady in front of me was buying 75-100 individual pieces of craft paper. Yes, the cashier was scanning each individual page, which wouldn't have been bad if she had a sense of urgency given the line of 5 people waiting. She took her sweet time, turning each page over individually as she scanned them. Not once did she acknowledge the line, no "thanks for being patient, I'll be with you as soon as possible". Another employee walked behind the counter, said something to the cashier, and then walked away. She also did not acknowledge the line, or make eye contact. The cashier should have called for a back up cashier as soon as she saw the massive amount of paper she was going to individually scan. I work in customer service, and would never let my staff behave this way. I definitely will not be returning after this.

I LOVE this Jo-Ann’s!!! I just had the BEST customer service experience (thanks again, Reggie!) and got my return/re-purchase handled quickly and smoothly. I was so glad to find this store!!NOTE: The local Beverly's doesn't have much fabric at all, and some of the other Santa Maria stores alleging to have fabric are ones to avoid because of their lack of social concern.JOANN has actual bolts of beautiful fabrics at reasonable prices, very friendly and helpful staff, good deals and easy returns.A year ago I wrote the above, and added that I'd be an ongoing JOANN customer.HOWEVER, more recently I was shocked to find that it has NO real corduroy. They finally located a thin corduroy in black. That was it. Not a problem with this particular store, I suppose, but the company itself.

The store was not crowded and the supplies were plentiful! It is a great place to take your children and let them wander through and pick out projects that interest them. It is also a great place for DIY gifts for friends and co-workers. We made ornaments for everyone's Christmas tree this year starting with empty, clear glass ornaments.

AMAZING selection of ALL the items you need to get to your own passion, and the QUALITY will be wonderful. FREQUENT CRAZY AWESOME DEALS! After years, I've NEVER met a "bad" staff member. They're very aware & care about their customers & their experience. One day, I had managed to BREAK 8 vases! I was STUNNED BY how calm-not the SLIGHTEST sign of distress or anger. And I OFFERED to pay for EACH ONE. I was ASSURED its no problem. I always leave 100% satisfied. I stopped going any DIFFERENT Craft Store & am going to remain a happy customer, of JoAnn's! Try it out sometime. You CAN'T be disappointed 👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Customer cut station was very unfriendly. Agent was looking closely at her nails with no greeting she says "what do you need" I said I need some fabric cut. She responds take a number. I took a number. As I pulled it from the machine she pages over the intercom customer needs assistance at the cut table. Then walk up to help me. Very weird experience.

Sadly I feel this is the last time I will be visiting our local store. I came in with 20 minutes left before they closed knowing exactly what I needed to buy but I needed help finding where they were to make it a quick trip in and purchase my items so they could close on time. Every time I asked a different employee for help to find that specific item they simply pointed to across the store saying it's over there in such-and-such area but they wouldn't bother to take me to that location and how many specifically find it so I could quickly grab it and buy it. Instead I had to leave purchasing nothing so that they could close and that is definitely all they cared about this evening. To me customer service is important regardless of the time you close. you are open until that time and obligated to help your customers to the best of your ability and unfortunately today this particular location failed at that and I hope their manager sees this and addresses the situation for future customers.

Friendly. Shopping online and curb side pickup is great. They need to update their major League sports material...very limited and old selections. Teams change their uniforms and logos every so often...would be nice to support our teams with logos/colors from the last decade.

Okay the place is generally good and fine. The layout is typical of what you would expect from a Joanns. However and this is not the fault of the young woman at the sales register but there was a huge line of people one young woman trying to bring up all our sales and is it happens every time with your lands they have to figure out what coupons go where and if you have a special gift card whatever how that figures in and it just so happens that the woman in front of me had a $5 off coupon thing for something she did and the young woman couldn't figure it out. Not her fault. So she calls someone else and they're on the phone trying to figure it out and no resolution. Then someone appears and they again try to figure it out with no resolution and finally the woman who's trying to get $5 off of whatever on top of whatever coupon she had decided that she just had to leave. so after all of that she ends up just leaving out of frustration was just kind of like the DMV or Social Security Administration they just wear you out until you decide to give up. So if you don't mind waiting on line for quite some time the prices are good and the young people at the cashiers are relatively nice but management really needs to step up here and figure out how to move people through at a reasonable pace. I realize that everything we buy there isn't feeding the homeless or solving any world crisis but standing in line for 20 minutes simply because they can't figure out how to code a coupon is a bit much. so the low rating is because of the mismanagement of customer service rather than the prices and the overall shopping experience.
