Overall, experience was and usually good. However, I expect better quality products when buying from Costco. But the eggs haven't been too good, as well as the Charmin bathroom tissue.

My visit to the Costco Optical department in Santa Maria was absolutely out of this world fabulous! This was made possible because of one super friendly, inquisitive and engaged employee named Barb. Barb made my trip to do a normally mundane activity of getting lenses in a pair of glasses an experience. Yes, an experience! I could go on and on but she took the time at 5 minutes to closing and not only helped me order the lenses but helped me pick out 2 additional new frames and lenses. When I left that evening I felt like I knew Barb for years and she knew more about me than even my doctor! I look for Barb every time I go in now because I know my day will be brighter just for having seen her. I have to mention the entire staff I have since encountered in this department on any number of visits has each been so nice and inviting as well. I will not even consider going to another optical retailer as long as I remain in this area!

Currently experiencing low quality customer service and negative attitude from an employee who didn't want to help me purchase the item I needed. My friend was shopping and asked an associate if they could grab an item off a pallet for them. The associate replied that they did not have the item in stock even though my friend pointed out that the item was on the higher shelf. The employee repeated that they do not have the item available on the floor. After hearing my friend's attempt to get help I then roamed the store looking for an employee who would help me. After finding what seemed to be a supervisor, I received the help I needed after the first associate came back to check the isle again, even though the other supervisor and I found it. He walked the isle and still did not see it until I pointed it out again. Once he came back with the lift to get the pallet the employee then continued to make remarks to his colleague that defended his poor attempt at stocking the shelves. Still leaving 5 stars to not spread anymore negativity but this employee needs to practice their service skills. They did apologize once he handed me the product I asked for but it shouldn't have taken us 20 minutes to get the item or service my friend politely asked for.

Other Costco food courts are doing this: You order the food at the kiosk then what you need to do is just awaiting to be called upon your order number on your receipt. But here, ridiculously slow, you have to join a long line to bring your receipt to the window then they will process your order from there. I saw a staff wearing the same pair of gloves collecting different people’s receipts, scratching markers on the receipts, handling kitchen machines, receiving cash for those can’t pay at the kiosk, then grabbing your hotdog directly from that dirty gloves.

Just a middle class here to complain about the foodcourt. I love costco and spend about $200-$300/weekly for a small fam. What irks me is how stingy they have become over tin foil. It was a bit windy outside and I ordered two pizza slices and requested foil to cover them. The gentleman who I asked "kindly" said to me, 'there's a limit of one foil upon request.' Thanks. One slice of pizza is covered while the other has dust on it by the time I got to my car. Yummy pizza with a lil bit of crunch in every bite.

Newer Costco, clean and spacious. The 12 pump station/24 spots shortens the line a lot. The older Costco dated back to reading the item numbers(no barcode scsnning!!!). Almost 5 star... the parking lot is one the worst! Almost all foot traffic crosses stops vehicles entering after the stoplight.Update: the gas lines are ever-present now. Probably since the corner gas stations have gone past $5/gal!!!

For quantity shopping it's a great place to shop and for tools equipment such as power washer airless paint sprayer and other tools clothing TV's tires go to Costco

The gas station has much to be desired. I've been there a total of 5 times with my card going on 2 years. I ended up getting gas once! The whole area was blocked off! No signs, no idea when or if it will be open again. The store is great. Just work on the gas station and it will be a win win!

Costco is very cold. Came in 4 in the afternoon, it was freezing while it was freezing outside as well. If it’s already cold outside why need it cold inside as well?. Costco please take this as consideration and turn up the heat or warm up your building!

Only one thing different that make something different .The company has a heart for the customer, so small things make a big difference. Look at picture that you will find outThey arranged the shopping cart towards the entrance so that people can just take it on the way in.

Just okay. I shop here a couple of times a week for about 11 years. I have had to complain a couple of times to management about customer service issues with certain staffs. Overall, they've been responsive.

Everyone loves Costco. Apparently, my family are not the only ones who have made it our new home if the zombie apocalypse breaks out. LolEveryone who works there is nice and professional. All the time.I have but 1 complaint. My Costco doesn't carry espresso. They do in Sacramento, though. I guess we aren't preppy enough. Lol

I had an issue about a rebate on a phone I purchased from T-Mobile at Costco. Joey at the Costco kiosk was very helpful about figuring out what was going on and giving me the contact information to use to get the correct rebate. He is knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and patient. I really appreciated his help!

First Costco membership was in 1985 in Seattle. Have been a member since then and had withdrawals while living in AR since there are no Costco's. Drive to Memphis or Dallas for my Costco "fix".

Amazing customer service from both membership representative and store supervisor. Very impressed how professional they were and had a very pro-customer attitude.Regarding the warehouse, it’s pretty new, very clean, busy on the weekends(duh) and well stocked! I’d consider this a “nice” Costco esp for Santa Maria.

Edit May 2019Costco went back to multiple lines in the food court. So dumb. The parking lot is still atrocious.Edit: Costco food court revised the line so it is one line distributed to all the cashiers. So much better and more fair to patrons than the several lines that uses to be there and we unlucky mortals playing roulette in hopes of not getting stuck in line 15 minutes for a hot dog. Other Costcos (San Luis Obispo) would do well to follow suit. Awesome improvement in service!The parking lot at the new location is still as poorly designed as the previous location. Flow studies need to be conducted and appropriate signage placed.
