I just had my Westie spayed, and both she and I hate the cheap plastic head collar they put on her. I went down to the local Petco, and both the prices and selection were poor. I buy her food at Montecito Pet Shop, which they special order for me, and sell it to me for at a great price. (It's food her breeder recommends.) So I decided to try them for a preventative collar. Not only was the selection of collars higher quality, but the price was $15.00 less than Petco for a similar collar. They are always so helpful, and the prices are great! Just wish they made a pink one... lol

This is a wonderful shop. Top brands and knowledgable staff. They are so helpful and accommodating. Lacey specifically has been an absolute pleasure to work with, she's gone out of her way to help us every time to find the right food/brands for our dog. Thank you so much!

This little shop is an essential part of the Mesa shopping center. The staff are good folks with a lot of product knowledge and they obviously love beasts.My dog Willy and I love to shop there, he always finds a delicious treat or a new squeaky toy.(And then we go next door to the Little Things bakery and have a snack for me!)

I agree that this is the best shop for affordable raw pet foods. They really go out of the way to help you find what you need, and work hard to satisfy you. I bought a 25 lb box of raw dog food, before finding out that my dog was allergic to the beef. They helped me exchange the meat for another with no hesitation. This is one of the best places ever for your pet! They will take care of the human that is owned by any dog or cat.

I went into the Montecito Pet Shop for the first time yesterday on a whim, and it was the best decision ever! My dog was so excited to receive some treats and pets from the wonderful ladies working there, which he loved. I was a little lost when it came to all the food choices, and Lacey was patient with me when she explained the difference between generic brands of dog food with 'fillers' and premium puppy food with high protein and premium ingredients. I am so impressed with the customer service in this store! It is fabulous! Lacey was kind enough to give my puppy, Czester, some samples of doggy food so we could see which ones he liked so we could build him a little meal plan for his growing body. She even helped me with my dogs shedding and coat concerns. Best pet store ever. I am definitely coming back there. Thank you for all of your help, ladies.

Hi, I have been going to Montecito Pet Shop, for about 10 years. It used to be in Montecito which was more convenient for me. I loved it when they had puppies for sale, and I purchased one which is an amazing dog today of 10! I wish they still carried puppies as it was a great place to go if one wanted to sit on the floor and play with the puppies, rather one wanted to buy one or not. Then they carried rescue dogs, and I guess they don't do that anymore. I am sure they have their reasons. Anyway, they have always been helpful and cordial to me, and I will give them 5 stars. I also thank them for my dog which I adore.

I cannot say enough great things about this store. Peter and his staff are always a delight to deal with and they go out of their way to make sure you have exactly what you need. Recently when I was concerned my cat might have a food allergy (he's very LA), Peter called the cat food company to get a definitive list of what was in the food. It was incredibly helpful! The food here tends to be pricier than what you can find at, let's say, Vons, but the quality is high. They are happy to make special orders for you if they do not happen to carry your brand. I will never go to PetCo again!

Went here 3 times and each time the person working the register was condescending with regard to how I care for my pets. The selection is made up of the hard-core hippy-dippy stuff, and if you ask for a name brand which they don't carry, they will rudely inform you that they don't carry that because it's "toxic" and they only carry "better" items. Today, in the latest example of this pattern of behavior, I was told that my vet is incompetent for suggesting that I feed my cats Science Diet (which, in case you were wondering, they do not carry -- only more expensive brands, funny how that works...), because apparently the woman working the register thinks she is more qualified than a veterinarian to assess the nutritional quality of food. I won't be going back.

Love this shop. Owner is friendly and knowledgeable about all the products she sells. They host adoptions on weekends . Their prices are very comparable to larger chains, will never go anywhere else.

I was so disappointed that my questions over the phone about wether or not a product was in stock was met with, “I don’t know’l with a healthy dose of I don’t care attitude.Ridiculously, I went to the store. When my first question was answered the same way I left.

I came in to look at a rescue kitten. Right off the bat the older cashier lady Lynn was demeaning and asked me what my plans were for the kitten (indoors or outdoors cat). I told her I currently had a cat that is strictly indoors but I would want to let the cat decide (just like my current cat). She said "I can GUARANTEE you won't be approved because the rules are ONLY KEEP THEM INDOORS". I told her "If the rules are to keep the kitten in doors, I will." Then she snarly replies "You are just changing your mind because I told you indoors only". I said, "Yes, you asked me my plan, then told me the rules, I have no intention of going against your rules." she said "I'm going to have to tell ResqueCAts what you told me and I can tell you now they won't approve you". She called the Rescue cats lady and went into the back of the store to tell her what I originally said about letting the cat chose and then she came and gave the phone to me. After talking with the ResqueCats lady, she DID approve me, but I didn't even want a kitten after that because of how rude Lynn was being, I work for the Santa Barbara Sheriff's department and she thought I was trying to deceive her to get a kitten. I wouldn't e working where I work if I was a liar! I don't recommend this store for anything because Lynn is so condescending and rude!!

We purchase Orijen pet food because it has come highly recommended to us by our vet, trainer, as well as we have seen the amazing results that it has had with our dogs digestive health. We have made a habit of ordering it online because of the convenience and since we need over 50 lbs and have had a few weird experiences while trying to purchase it at our closest available retailer Montecito Pet shop. The last time we had to grab a bag was the final straw. My wife who has already been misled into purchasing a lesser food with the scare tactic that Orijen is somehow unhealthy and dangerous has kinda had enough. The gal at the checkout was able to convince the person in front of her to make the same mistake. Then she attempted to inflict an irrational accusation (with the news that there is a predatory "quality assurance agency" who has filed a lawsuit because they claim that Orjen needs to succumb to their arbitrary and baseless regulation) on my wife who happens to have a degree in microbiology and works in pharmacology. We are very educated as to what is going on with this particular situation and the fact that the gal at the counter can make these sort of accusatiosn towards a very reputable company and cannot back them with any sort of fact or articulation of point make them untrustworthy in my book. Either stop carrying the product or educate yourself on the source of accusations. Still carrying the product but bashing the producer. I will contact Orijen to let them know the kind of ambassador this shop is to their product.

I've only had good experiences at MPS. Kelly the manager and the other employees are always helpful and they have a good variety of products and brands. I love that they offer rescue animals and care where the animals go.

Went here once two years ago and haven't been back since. Upon entering the store with my small dog, a large dog near the register began growling and a mid-sized dog came rushing over to try to play with mine. I assumed the smaller one belonged to another customer and was shocked when an employee called for it. Shopping was nearly impossible with this dog running into my legs and trying to wrestle with my totally uninterested and significantly smaller dog, and after one attempt the employee just ignored it. Upon approaching the register the huge dog and his underfoot buddy growled suddenly and then cornered and pinned my leashed, small dog. One actually had him in its mouth. I got an apathetic "sorry" from the person behind the register as this huge dog continued to growl at me. I've never even considered setting foot in that store again, and have advised others to avoid bringing their own pets along should they choose to shop there. Knowing what I know now, I really ought to have reported the entire thing to Animal Control.
