La Cumbre Animal Hospital has proved over the past few years to be extremely reliable for our two dogs. The front desk is always kind and the care that we have received has been incredible.Dr Holmes is very impressive , so loving and always gives superior advice.Fairly recently we had an emergency with our golden retriever and they helped us right in the middle of the floor at the front office, it was scary. They were so calm and quick and I was crying hysterically. I’m happy to report our golden is happy and well now. I still owe them flowers.Thank you to all the incredible doctors and staff at La Cumbre. Your love and care is far superior always!

Horrible experiences here. Rude and unprofessional staff. We went for my pups digestive issues and they messed up his food twice… trying to give me a diff one each time I had to show them screenshots of what the vet recommended … like dont u write this down??? And not once but twice! Also they run late often and just let h sit in the waiting room without giving u updates. Also one of their vets is incredibly rude and doesn’t seem to care about my dog at all just wants me in and out and giving them my money. This was really bad, bad enough for me to be pushed off and write this!!! if u love ur pet I would absolutely not take them here. Can’t trust them.

La Cumbre Animal Hospital is hands down the best vet we’ve ever been to. The techs are friendly and so good with our dog - we always feel like he’s in such good hands! The veterinarians are patient and thorough, not rushing from animal to animal (but somehow always staying on schedule!). Our beloved pug who turns 2 years old on Feb 10th has had a rough start to her life. Growing up we took our bulldog to La Cumberland since he was a pup back when they had a small building next to five points. They were much better back then to say the least.Mia, our Pug, our special baby girl, had issues from the beginning when we tried to get her fixed. As time went on an La Cumbre AH telling us we had to wait to get her fixed when in reality her problem got worse an worse, our bill grew. I told them repeatedly that she bleeds all the time. There almost is no break between her cycles. They knew something was seriously wrong with her and they did nothing. All they did was charge us an arm an leg. After being fed up with these crooks we decided to go to Adobe. The best decision we made! After the first visit with the vet there, she got fixed within a week and took out her cancer spots. They told us exactly what was going on, and how sick she really was. If we kept her with La Cumbre Animal Hospital, she would have died. Thank god for Adobe! Hers our baby girl on her road to recovery. Thank you Adobe!

We trusted La Cumbre with caring for our dog, Butter, for the last 4 years. Unfortunately, Dr. De Haas’ negligence responding to Butter’s symptoms over the last few months ended with her sudden death last week.Butter was 10.5 years old. In January, we called La Cumbre multiple times concerned that Butter’s appetite was waning. They would not see us. We tried switching her to a home cooked diet, they advised against this and simply suggested alternative canned food. Butter’s appetite improved a little so we stopped pushing.Several weeks ago, we couldn’t even get Butter to eat peanut butter so we tried La Cumbre again. They agreed to see her and discovered that she was anemic. They suggested an ultrasound since the x-ray results were considered inconclusive. Dr. De Haas thought she might have some sort of “chronic condition” but expressed very little concern or willingness to elaborate on what that might mean.At Butter’s ultrasound last Tuesday at AVS, she had a massive internal bleeding event due to suspected hemangio sarcoma. She had tumors all over her liver and spleen. The doctors at AVS were able to resuscitate her, but her prognosis was terminal. She passed away 4 days later.Dr. De Haas knew Butter was hospitalized last Tuesday and never followed up with us. We tried contacting her for the last several days, and finally got to speak with her today: more than a week after the ultrasound.When we probed into whether there were previous anomalies in Butter’s blood work, Dr. De Haas admitted that Butter had previous signs of anemia in past blood panels.Why wouldn’t they probe into her diagnosis in January when we called to complain about her diet changes? Even if the anemia wasn’t considered a problem in the past, you would think they would advise us to investigate the issue then.I would never trust this hospital to care for any pet of mine in the future.

Not sure how they won best Vet? They have terrible customer service. I made an appointment and then they canceled it with a 2 hour warning on a Friday when you can't call back and talk to them. Then they canceled it without telling me and I had my dog in the car with my kid and poop that they asked for. When I called on Monday to have it fixed they didn't do anything about it. Terrible. Just the worst possible customer experience ever.

My pets have been taken care of by Dr. Kuesis and the staff of La Cumbre Animal Hospital since 2005. I would NEVER go any where else for their veterinarian care, Dr. Eve is the best vet I’ve ever known. Her medical expertise and professionalism is of the highest order as well as being extremely kind and very sensitive to all the different personalities of the animals I’ve brought to her for care. What I appreciate is that she gives options of treatments and costs of each after the diagnosis has been made. No hidden costs and no “pushing” of products.The entire staff, from the technicians who explain bandage care, the importance of managing the E-collars (also know as the cone of shame); they are courteous, kind and actually enjoy taking care of their clients. Follow up calls to make sure both pet and owner are doing well and that there are no problems or questions.

I love LCAH. My 16yr old plus pup is totally in love with Dr. Bev. Been seeing her forever . The staff is friendly and efficient..always giving the respect and honoring when your animal is in crisis…(Am I the only helicopter mom here?) I don’t think you could work there if you weren’t a person of compassion.And check out their new offices..so beautiful. Any of the DVMs with the group will give your fur baby the attention and love they deserve.Sadly we lost Bobo August 17th. As always, LCAH treated him and us with much compassion and care.We welcomed our new little Ms. Maizie in September and of course brought her to the most loving place in town for her care and well being. She was a hit!I cannot thank them enough for their dedication and care.

Had a good lab appointment with pug dog Roxy for bloodwork one year after dental surgery. Jade was excellent, patient, and professional. Answered all my questions and treated Roxy with care during the procedure. Very quick and efficient. Good parking, reasonable costs, too. I recommend highly.

The veterinarians are great but some of the new younger lobby checkers seem extremely disinterested in their jobs. I’ve called and left a message and never got a reply back about purchasing a product for my pet. And no one answers the phones anymore. Straight to voicemail. Which you don’t get a reply back.

I love La Cumbre Animal Hospital. I’ve had nothing but great experiences here taking my dog in for all her needs. From when she was a puppy, to now going through her spay, everyone I’ve interacted with has been so kind and welcoming (even throughout all of Covid while interactions looked very different than normal). Jose and Luis have always shown extra love and care for my dog, and always make a point of coming and saying hi to me and my dog, even if they’re not the ones currently assisting her.I highly recommend La Cumbre Animal Hospital to all my friends in Santa Barbara.

Great place to bring your animal for high quality care you can trust. The staff are extremely helpful and thorough as well as friendly! You will not be disappointed! I personally have worked with Dr. Alonso and she was the perfect fit for me and my small rescue dog that I had to bring in. Also, later on they were very understanding when my animal had a sudden passing and they provided a lot of follow up care including handwritten staff sympathy cards, phone calls to see how I was doing, etc. It was something that really stood out to me as they care and understand how important our pets are to us!

La Cumbre Animal Hospital has been my vet since my goldendoodles were puppy. I really enjoy bringing my dogs to the vet because the staff has always been extremely FRIENDLY & HELPFUL. They do their best to get me in asap when I have a vet emergency and the doctors are wonderful and knowledgeable. I won’t lie, it is a bit pricey but I know my babies are being well taken care of. I’m so happy Jackie came back and Salita joined the staff. Salita is the best. The staff cares about their clients and animals. Thank you!!

Dr. Kuesis has always been very responsive to our needs. One never feels rushed in an appointment or when she phones to talk about test results etc. She is very knowledgeable and provides a wealth of information; she is open to all questions. She shows compassion for her patients and clients. The Medical Assistants and staff are always friendly and helpful. Our four dogs have been patients at La Cumbre Animal Hospital with Dr. Callahan before he retired and then with Dr. Kuesis. They were all cared for extremely well. I highly recommend La Cumbre Animal Hospital to those thinking of which veterinary hospital to trust there beloved pets with.

The doctors and staff here are amazing. They take great care of my dog, Jack. I trust the medical expertise of Dr, Holmes & Dr. Alonso and the staff is incredibly caring, patient, & professional. They are quick & responsive to all my questions/ concerns and always manage to find time in their schedule, even with all the necessary precautions due to Covid. They've managed to streamline appointment procedures, so you wait in your car while staff comes out to get your pet. The poor reviews on this site baffle me and because the same story & pic comes up under different profiles, makes me think it's just a sick person targeting these great people.
