I brought my cat in for a second opinion on her chronically irritated eye that numerous previous vets have all attributed to feline herpes. They have all said it is largely untreatable and just something she will always deal with.Dr. Grunewald did a general exam and then did a swab test to determine the cause, which no other vet has even offered to me before now. The results showed that she may not have herpes at all, but has a parasitic infection that could be treated with antibiotics.We also discovered that she has struvites and had a UTI that we began treating. Throughout this process, Dr. Grunewald and the entire staff has been so friendly, responsive and helpful. They send texts to update you on test results, provide advice, adjust treatment plans, and answer my (many) questions. This is so helpful and also saves you from additional (stressful!) visits to the vet with your pet.My cat is finally getting the treatment she needs and Dr. Grunewald's knowledge and thorough approach is the entire reason why. I'm so grateful to them, and I cannot recommend them enough!

Wonderful people working the front office and veterinary staff at this location and business. I spoke with both Isabel and Mataya, and their personal assistance, and recommendation saved our cats life. It was a medium type emergency. Not truly AVS necessary, but more than a regular vet check up and visit.They highly recommended Dr. Addie and the urgent veterinary care of Santa Barbara. We called the care office and they encouraged us to come in - if possible, before 7:30 (last patient seen). We arrived at 6:15 with no appointment. Our wait was brief before they took our furry family member for an assessment.Dr. Addie quickly appeared and gave us the run-down on the patients condition. She was going to forge ahead with the necessary measures to successfully overcome the affliction. We were elated. One hour later he was ready to go, meds in hand. Amazing experience. Dr. Sellers has taken care of my cats for about twenty years. She is caring, knowledgeable, and compassionate to her patients and their human caregivers. Excellent and knowledgeable staff. I brought my cat in to get her teeth checked out. She ended up needing to get two of her teeth pulled. What I thought was going to cost me a Santa Barbara rent check to get her helped, ended up being much more affordable than anticipated. The staff are all very nice and took great care of her and we're good at explaining everything that needed to be done for her.

I took my son's newly adopted kitty in for 1st checkup and the staff and Vet we're so friendly and very accommodating. I accidentally came in an hour early and they took us in immediately. Highly recommend! We have a bird. We love to go & hang out with the fat kitty's and gold fish in the waiting room. We are long time customers. Dr. Sellers and the staff are the best! Everything is always explained and they handle the animals with confidence and care. My favorite thing is that they just handle your situation to get what is needed done. There is no crazy up sell like some other places seem to do. I wish dogs could go there to!

I was able to quickly get a reason for my cat’s symptoms as opposed to my usual veterinary care. With something that was taking weeks with no questions answered, took one appointment with the Cat and Bird Clinic. All the staff and doctors are very kind and patient and take time to understand your questions before giving thoughtful answers. I will continue to take my cat here in the future.

In over 50 years of having animals this is by far the best & most compassionate veterinary clinic I have ever had the pleasure to find. The quality of care our cat Bam Bam received here from Dr. Pruitt was excellent in every way - from the thoroughness of the initial examination to the quality of care. The facility is clean & the gentle way our cat was treated put him immediately at ease. Animals know when they are loved & in a safe place. In short, this clinic is a typical profit-centered, incompetent business rather than a proper veterinary clinic that offers service to care for animals' lives and get paid for it. I would never trust them again. For those who are interested, below is my latest experience with them in detail:We had to get an international health certificate for our cat. Few months prior to our departure, I was in contact with the clinic about the health certificate requirements. The person who was working there was particularly very helpful. Those who have travelled with their pets would know how incredibly bureaucratic, complicated and costly is the process of getting together of an animal's travel documents. That's why I have talked to USDA and this clinic several times prior to our departure.5 days prior to our departure, we took our cat there to get the last examination, necessary treatments and the international health certificate. During the examination, I had to remind Dr. Sellers various requirements (treatment against ticks and tapeworms) that she was not aware of. Initially, she had filled and printed an outdated version of international health certificate required by Turkey (can be very easily avoided if you just google it). They had changed it after my warning. My impression was that Dr. Sellers was being reckless about something that she was not very experienced. I do not expect her to fully know each country's requirements. Precisely for this reason, she should have been much more careful. But, she clearly had not done her homework about something this serious and important. Nevertheless, I had still had my trust to the documents she had signed as she must have done this several times and knew at least where (not) to sign. As required, I went to USDA office in Los Angeles on the date of my travel. I had found out that, Dr. Sellers had completely messed up with the document. She had not only missed her signature and date&time information in required spaces but also wrongly signed another space (so her reply to my partner's review is not accurate). The document was useless. We had exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes to get a new health certificate in LA. We got lucky and found a nearby vet to which we had to pay $253 ($186 for health certificate and $67 for examination). I managed to get the approval from the USDA literally at the last minute. When I called this clinic, they admitted the mistake only after a while and told me that they can refund me the price of the health certificate which was 25$. Later, they said they can refund the price of examination too ($50). However, the least they could do was to refund me the total cost of the second vet clinic in addition. Of course, the emotional stress that we had to go through cannot be reimbursed at all.This could be a whole different scenario if I had my appointment with USDA 15 minutes later or could not bring together $250. That is why the mistake Dr. Sellers has done and the way this clinic has handled it afterwards is not only problematic from a business point of view but grossly unethical as a veterinarian! As she was not meticulous as she needed to be from the beginning, this is not simply an honest mistake either. My request to speak to Dr. Sellers was denied when I asked for. She did not even care to apologize to me personally. Rather they told me that they have found my partner's google review very rude and hung up on me.Clearly, they prioritize the reputation of their business over the well being of the animals that they supposedly care for and get paid in return.

We moved to the L.A. area within the past year. Our search for a competent avian vet for our parrot Chili has been costly and ineffective. Due to a beak malalignment, Chili requires a beak trim every 3-4 months. Dr. Sellers is the only avian vet we've found in the area who understood the problem and promptly fixed it. She was competent in managing Chili, thorough in her examination, addressed our questions, and all charges were fair. Dr. Sellers is a treasure!

This is a horrible place that messed our cat’s travel documents and didn’t even acknowledge responsibility. Their vets cannot even sign a document right. Truly incompetent. Avoid at all cost!Because of their vet's incompetence (also the owner I believe), I almost had to abandon my cat before my flight (I got lucky and found a different vet in LA who knew how to sign a document)!Do not trust this business, especially if you need any official documentation!

Wonderful caring staff at the Cat and Bird Clinic - Dr. Pruett performed surgery on my new kitty, Mia, who had been abused as a homeless kitty; her hip joint was destroyed. Doctor Pruett went above and beyond the call of duty, performing a long, complicated surgery perfectly. Mia thinks she is ready to conquer the world! And to top it off the prices are VERY reasonable - nobody pushing for Unnecessary procedures, drugs etc. Best experience for the vet ever!
