The place is unsanitary and needs a HEAVY deep clean. The floors are disgusting. Even the walls are filthy. And the employees have a SERIOUS attitude problem. I dont think i've met people with a LAZIER type of personality. There is only ONE guy l've met at this location who is even remotely nice, and you can tell he cares about the animals and the customers. Kudos to Matt. Otherwise, this place should seriously be reviewed & shutdown by corporate. The animals are also very neglected.The hamster cages stink and there is poop everywhere. The bird cages look like they haven't been cleaned for months. It's incredibly sad and heartbreaking. Even the cat habitat looks old and like it's falling apart. This place is CRUEL and it sucks. Hands down. It's unfortunate such a prime location like South Coast Plaza has a beyond horrible pet store.Try harder. For the animals at least. I will 100% be calling corporate about this place. The animals deserve better. And so do your customers.You should be ashamed, Petco on Bristol.

Got here at 9am too pick up some dog food but was told to go because they weren’t ready. Currently waiting it’s 9:10am still not open. Even had time to write a review.

Mario is the best!! He is super nice helping us and explaining to us how to use the app and offering us all the specials they have. Excellent customer service!plus he is a hero saving a little girl today! Give him a raise!

The cashiers are the rudest, I agree customers are not always right, I was waiting at the cashier nobody was there for like 10 minutes when he came. I was friendly to him , but he acted that I was not welcome there.

I had an encounter with the cashier, Joey. I explained that the bag of dog food I was holding had dried urine and asked for some wipes to clean with. Joey pulled out two wet wipes and laid them on the bag of dog food. Then stood there. While I took one to clean my hands and clothing. I thought maybe they would offer assistance to help clean the bag. But they just told me the price that I owed and asked if I wanted to donate. And continued to stand there. I was paying cash but first spent a few minutes then cleaning all the dried urine off of the dog bag. It was very awkward for me and it felt that the cashier saw that cleaning this bag was beneath them. Since Joey was the only cashier at this time, it left a long line of customers behind me. Staring.

If you are looking to get into the fish keeping hobby, or are a parent with children looking into keeping fish, I strongly advise you to stay away from this store. This is a female Betta that is suffering from a terrible fungal infection and who knows what else. ): I found her while looking through the shelves. This is just a terrible case of neglect and especially of terrible management. I recommend going to the local fish store Nolan's Aquarium. Please do proper research before taking in fish.

Vet/Grooming services here are of poor quality. I switched to Petco at Orange and the difference is noticable from the moment you check in to the moment you leave.

Grooming department the worst I've experience in my time living in Orange County. Turned me away for being 30 seconds past the grace period one week, then 2 weeks later when tried to bring my dog back they say he's too matted for them to take. Unbelievable lack of customer service, go literally anywhere else.

Wednesday January 31 I had an appointment for my dog at the grooming shop at 8:30 am, I arrived on time, door was locked, seems like the store was closed since no one was around, I waited outside and finally after 13mins a lady working on the back of the store opened the door for me just to hear from the chubby girl at the desk saying that I was late and the groomer will not take my dog, drove 10 miles for nothing, first and worse experience here,

My bf and I normally go to PetSmart so this was our first time at Petco. Unfortunately, I regret coming to this store. There was only one guy at the registers. The guy who rung up our items lacked customer service, his name is George. Very rude, no manners whatsoever, and lacked common sense. This location needs better employees who actually care to work there. George, I hope you find another job that changes your attitude.

I am not surprised, I should’ve checked the reviews before coming to this location but I am not surprised by this 3.5 and the manager or the person running that place. I believe it’s her unless she’s just a sales lead I hope. I’m describing her look because she had no name tag. she has a piercing in the middle of her nose, thick and tall, black curly hair. She had bad attitude like I’ve never had such bad customer service at a pet store ever. I always am at the location in Irvine and they are wonderful. Even Petsmart has better customer service. Petsmart do better on your managers and hiring in locations like Santa Anna. Customer service is everything that is the closest thing to your dollar book. Don’t let a bad employee ruin that for you. Thanks for the worst experience. This store should close. My Puppy Kooper and I will never be here again.

This Petco is rather a small one. There is nothing really wrong with it, although nothing really stood out that made me want to go back to that location. The staff was nice (only saw one person working there.) Line was kinda long for them to only have one employee working register. I was there for dog toys and their prices are so so .

Gave them 3 stars cause they never (when I have been there at least) have more than 1 cashier. Don't see any employees in the aisle so thank goodness I know where to go for our prescription dog food...just saying since I figure some would appreciate it since sometimes people just hold up the lines needlessly.

I am giving this rating based on the Vetco visit I had, which is inside of Petco.I have a Senior pup who has a lot of health issues now that he is older. Finding a Doctor that cares and connects with you can be hard, but I can honestly say that the vet and vet staff here are nice people. The Dr. (Dr. O’Connor) really spent time getting to know my dog, was a great listener, and he treated my fur child like he was one in a million- thus making me feel confident that I found the right doctor. The medicine and advice given has helped my pup get back on the right track, and I know that I can come here for his health in the future.I want to note that the vet techs and staff were so friendly and fun to talk to as well. You can see the love that everyone has for animals here, and that makes me want to give more than 5 stars, but alas, 5 stars is all I can rate. ❤️

I made an appointment for a pet grooming at this location, website mentioned that I need to provide the vaccination records in order to proceed and I was totally fine with that, the girl who asked me for the records and do the check in was a bit rude, then the stylist came to check my little dog and said, your dog has some lumps in her abdomen, yes I know she is 12 years old, so they started to ask for exams and results, ok I’m fine with that but they should mentioned this in the website so I don’t waste my time and stressed my dog going through all this process, then manager appears and start to ask more questions while my dog was shaking, terrible experience, really, is that hard mention this on your website so I can know before making the appointment????, I will never buy anything from Petco again.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would . Came to pick up some cat care products with my ELDERLY grandpa and asked to use the restroom 🚻 . Off the bat I was told my Darlene that it was against policy , and told her he could not hold it any longer but still kept insisting it was against policy. Told her okay about not letting us enter even though we are PAYING customers. Told her if I can have napkins or paper towels since it was to late to run to another locations to use the restrooms. And still gave me nothing. I will never be coming back again AT THIS LOCATION. As I quickly grabbed my stuff for check out she didn't even treat me as a customer and I had to ask for the rewards program. 🙃 I don't understand how they can treat ELDERLY people with no respect.

This is my go-to Thrive (Vetco) location. The doctor is amazing and the staff is great. They have gone out of their way to treat my cat quickly and made sure to keep my budget in mind. I appreciate that they talk things through with me so I understand what services are really need and others that perhaps I do not to keep my costs down. Thank you!

The litter for cats is so much better & cheaper , oh and also healthier food , for the ones that are more sensitive, like my cat is super sensitive for the regular ones she always vomited it and the one I bought called whole hearted she haven not . I'm really happy 😊

Bad service. Bought a couple fish here and one of them died in less than a day. When I went to the store to for an exchange the manager did not want to exchange nor return the fish without a water sample which I didn’t have on me at the moment. She made it a big deal. I don’t recommend buying fish from this Petco. PetSmart is a better option. Their customer service is far better than this Petco.
