Older but nice, great WiFi and super breakfast. Stayed in December and asked for a quiet room; low occupancy yet we were still placed next door to someone who left their tv on all night, not quiet! Would it have been so hard to have an empty room beside us? We’ll stay here again, but will be more particular on the room assignment.Food & drinks: Excellent hot breakfast, plus a great restaurant on the property.

Had a one night stay to visit Hearst Castle and this motel is very close. The room (102) was newly remodeled. The bed was excellent and all the bedding was as brand new. The couch was very comfortable and the room spacious. It was a very comfortable stay. The room was very clean. The exterior and the hallways aren’t up to the same standard as the room. The hot breakfast was several notches above the standard coffee and cereal cups. There was plenty of selection, including hot eggs, bacon & fried potatoes. Very nice.

The worst experience I had in a hotel. No electricity for the entire stay, so no possibility to charge the phone, to use the fridge (we had to throw away all the food), to use wifi - and when you are travelling on the road all of this is really a pain. In addition, no possibility to use the gym and to have breakfast - all things which we paid for in advance. Bathroom with no door. Absolutely NO staff was there to help us with all these issues, they just left us without electricity for the entire evening, night and even in the morning no-one was there so we had to call them. No explanation was given but the worst is that they promised a refund and despite several emails, calls and chasers they never refunded us. I am really disappointed and disgusted from the lack of transparency, good faith and professionality of these people.

We went to our room and the sheets were dirty and they was what looked like public hair on the sheets as well. I called the front desk and got a new room, never got an Apology, I was just told we'll we cleaned the room and changed the sheets we don't know what happened. The next morning went to breakfast there at the hotel and the bread was green with mold on the bread. The view was very nice the location was good and the beds were comfortable, when they have clean sheets on.Nearby activities: Hearst castle

The room looked so cute at first glance. I went to put my bag down on a chair and noticed it had some kind of substance splattered on it. Then when we went to get into bed I noticed what looked like a very dirty hand print on the head board and the lamp shade had some kind of faded red stain on it. The pillows had stains on them also. So we went to the car and grabbed our own blankets and pillows to sleep on. In the morning I went to take a shower and the towel for the floor had what looked to be blood on it along with dirt marks. The towels were all stained. My daughter went to the front desk to ask for clean towels. The front desk lady said a housekeeper would bring us some. We waited 15 min and then went to find someone.I went to blow dry my hair and was afraid to use the blow dryer because the cord was melted. So disappointed in our stay. It looked really cute online.I added pictures and have no idea why they don’t show up in the review?

Pros:- Staff was very friendly and helpful.- The location is very nice and relaxing.- It is not as expensive as the other hotels around.- The HVAC worked well and the shower had hot water.Cons:- The walls are thin and if people are loud, you can hear them.- If you are concerned about the people above you walking loud, ask for a second floor room.- The room had some damage on the walls and a stained lounge chair.- Some of the rooms have sliding glass doors, but they are locked and you can’t open them. This doesn’t make sense. The room already has the door built into the wall and it costs nothing to let people open the door. Why keep it locked because people didn’t pay as much as the premium rooms? What if there is a fire, that door is the only way out, and someone is too weak to break the glass? This is a pretty bad life and safety issue.

Great place, newly refurbished rooms, probably the best beds and most comfortable rooms we have stayed in on our road trip up the coast. The new hotel manager is very nice and accommodating. Was still adding more amenities when we were here so the next time it will have even more and put the old days inn to shame. Had fresh breakfast to go waiting in the morning and plenty of helpful advice for our trip. Will definitely stay here again!

I try to rate hotels based on cost. An $80 and a $200 while not the same can still earn 5* if they have good amenities based on the expectation. At $200, this place does NOT!Yes, the bed is comfortable and the toilet is clean & works, but the rest of the room?First, wifi is abysmal; Spotify quits in the middle of songs because it can buffer fast enough and the is no AT&T reception that's solid. Second, the bathtub doesn't drain, but the water keeps running, so you get a constant dripping sound. Third, there's no light in the sink area - it's not just dim, there's NO light! Switch? Yes. Light bulb/fixture? NOPE!As others have stated, breakfast is wanting. Something yellow that I assume are supposed to be eggs, but are very watery fake eggs & deli thin slice bacon that is under cooked. They were passable with hot sauce and they know it because they offer several different types. There are other hotels on the area, I don't know about those, but I would recommend staying here only as a last resort.

The room was kind of pricey because it was a weekend and facing the ocean. It was dirty despite the price and the hotel itself made me feel like a murder had occurred in the hallway. Nowhere on the website does it say there is no elevator either so we are in the middle of this long road trip, hauling heavy luggage up the stairs and down the hallway in the rain. Not up the side stairway though, the side stairs had old puke sitting on them. We learned that quickly.Glad we had checked the Keurig before giving it a whirl because it was completely moldy and disgusting. Birds were roosting in the rafters of our balcony. Overall not our best stay at a best western. Breakfast was good and our shower was hot though.

Room was huge and bed was very comfortable! Some of the the floorboards were literally taped down to the floor. Breakfast was below average for a continental option. Great location right off the 1.Nearby activities: Close to Hearst castle

Wow, where do I start. First, I booked this hotel because of the Best Western name, which is a shame because this hotel does not deserve the Motel 6 branding. I booked two nights using points, which the website showed 10,000 points per night. Upon completion of the booking the reservation now showed 16,000 points per night. I thought I was too slow and the price changed in the middle of my booking. I also thought the increase was due to demand. When we got there the place looked worse than a Motel 6 and I only saw a couple of other cars in the parking lot. The place has no curb appeal and the free breakfast was horrible, same food both days. Scrambled watery fake eggs and some super thin bacon looking cardboard. Upon check out we were charged $67 for the stay for “taxes” which the booking stated they were included in the reservation. We have been Best Western customers for over 20 years and never had to pay taxes if we booked with points. As a matter fact the two previous nights we stayed at Marriott in Anaheim and used points and were not charged for any taxes. Avoid this place if you can, they are giving Best Western a bad name. If there are any pluses the room was clean and the location is right where we wanted for our visit to Hearst castle.I changed my rating to 3 stars after we were refunded the money.

The room was fine, and clean. But then, the bathroom wasn’t exactly amazing. The bath itself was always full of water, and it didn’t go away. Once I asked for a plunger for the toilet, at the front desk, the guy didn’t even know what a plunger is, and after telling him my room, he said that the plunger is in the laundry room, and that he would bring it, but after about an hour, nothing. But they did renovate and repaint the front outside.Edit: all rooms are connected by the balcony.

After my pre-paid two night stay was close to perfect, Tomy at the front desk made a terrible mistake at check-out: he promised me he was not going to charge my credit card and then he went right ahead and did exactly that, shortly after I left. Tomy, I told you I had paid for my stay, I showed you paper receipts, I showed you screen shots of my credit card proof of payment. I definitely pre-paid for my stay. You guys had a reservation in my name from this travel website because it showed in your system at check-in. So why the extremely poor customer service? Furthermore, I called you a couple of hours after check-out: I complained about you lying to me and then you lied again, reassuring me it would all be resolved in the next 24 hrs. Well, nothing was resolved, it has been over two weeks and I have a double charge on my credit card. So I have put my real job on-hold and I'm calling you guys (to no avail), calling my credit card company (to initiate an obvious dispute of charges), calling the travel website (to demand a fair or unfair refund, at this point I do not even know) and basically working and trying to fix the problem despite the fact that I shouldn't be working this hard because I am your customer! For anybody that tolerated reading this far, if you are planning a stay at San Simeon, the Pacific Coast Roadhouse is well located, clean, recently renovated and even has a good included breakfast but still, avoid it like the plague!

We booked here because of the free Tesla charger (which was great after the long drive down Hwy 1) and because they are dog friendly. The motel was great with very clean and recently remodeled rooms and friendly, helpful staff. Close to the ocean but without too much highway noise. I'd definitely stay again.

Would not be my first choice for the $229 I paid for a getaway night. The pictures online are deceiving and always look into the reviews. I don't mind paying that price by the ocean even for a Best Western. What they advertised was not what I or our friends paid for their anniversary getway.Rooms: Updated to an extent but many of the last touches and placement of fixtures was not taken I to consideration. Bed comfortable but could of used a thick down comforter. The hallway smells musty and needs the carpet ripped up.Nearby activities: The ocean is within walking distance and a couple restaurants. The town of Cambria is adorable and worth walking and visiting.Safety: The area of San Simeon was gorgeous but the hotel ground could use the rusted rails that are broken off fixed, the holes filled in on tje outdoor walls, and the entrance to the rooms to have a functioning working locked key door for customers.Walkability: To ocean across the street.
