I would recommend folks to shop here to support the local grocery chain store even though it is smaller store than one in Terra Linda.Lisa at Flower Dept is wonderful!!! If you have a special flower arrangement or bouquet is needed, please ask Lisa when she’s on duty.Fresh bagels at Bakery Dept often all sold out by 7 pm. I often look for them in the evening to consume next day. I wish bakery dept will consider making double batch for cheddar cheese bagels in the morning that might last for evening customers.They always stock Gatorade or Propel powders which will save you a lot of money not buying bottled drinks, environmentally better and still gets your sports drink need. Always available in the section by lemonade powers and other sports drink powder mix.It’s a smaller scale neighborhood Safeway store which has been in this location at least last 60 years.We see some staffs who has been here more than 6-7 years. A several longtime staffs are very kind and courteous.Coinstar is working now.There are 4 self-checkout stations which is great to use when you have only 2-3 items to buy. And the staffs at the self-check out always helped me to correct the items that might have scanned twice or incorrect price was given. Matthew in the morning hours was very prompt and supportive.

My go to grocery store. Having shopping there for many years. Decent prices good service when you need it and has self-checkout so you can be in and out quicker than if it didn't have it. Can get pretty busy but that's because it's good.

I would have given five stars but for the take home dinners the chicken dinner had way too much butter and was nauseating after a while just one butter swirl would be fine! And the gravy was so thick in the beef roast I ate the meat & vegetables and left the potatoes some were done some were not! I have yet to eat the chicken fettuccine. I did find everything I needed for the day but I won’t do those dinners again.

This location is know as Ghetto Safeway. There are some great staff and then there are the rest that don't seem to want to work or serve anyone. Add to that the flow of wacky and homeless people. Not an easy store to navigate.The staff park their cars in the spaces nearest the entry doorsof the store so there is very little parking in the Safeway parking lot for customers!

10.99 for chicken thighs. Non-organic, not cage-free. I can actually buy heritage chicken at whole foods, pasture raised, organic, for less than Safeway sells their tortured chicken. The ONLY reason I occasionally shop there is because it's the only grocery store open late. If that wasn't the case I would never go in there.

Lots of homeless in this location, tried to use the bathroom and there was a drunk homeless in there for almost 20min and the security had to get him out, and he ended up blocking the toilet and mess all over the place! I ended up not using it since it was filthy dirty. They should keep the keys and only let customers use it! Terrible experience!

Okay with covid-19 I feel grateful that we have a grocery store but come on the Fried Chicken had obviously been left from the day before and refried. The meat was obsolete there was none in it! Was just fried crust, and the guy at the counter took his time to pick out the worst pieces possible, when we returned the first batch, and yes they were inedible.Update- have not been able to bring myself to get anything from the deli area after the last experience, but this time while shopping wasn't horrible the checking attendant at the end was anything but helpful, all he could talk about was how much he disliked his position.Have decided to find another Safeway.

This Safeway is a bit further for me, but is 100% worth the extra time. It's always clean, tidy, and stocked. Employees are helpful and pleasant when you need assistance. Butcher is friendly and helpful. This location has fresher produce and better meat selection than the other one in the immediate area. Parking here is easier than the other one as well.

Pretty nice looking cakes in the bakery. Tasty but a bit too sweet for me. The staff is quite helpful if you ask. Normal selection of regular food like you'd expect. Decent produce, a step up from Lucky.

I called, they told me customer service was open until 7pm..I drove from Novato with hardly any gas...I was picking up money from western union so it was very important for me to get there before 7pm. I ARRIVED AT 6:35 PM and the manager informed me the lady closed her register down at 630 so basically I was out of luck. There was no other western union available close enough for my gas to make it there. So I was stuck in that parking lot with no gas until the next morning when they opened and I could receive my money!!!!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous. Don't say 7pm, THAT'S WHY I CALLED FIRST..... and then they closed 30 min early and ruined my entire evening and night! The evening " manager" I spoke to at that time was very rude, basically said "well she was tired and worked all day so she shut down her register at 630" , and then she walked away from me!!!

The employees at Safeway are great they're all polite they're all courteous they're all friendly they make the store a great place! But the store hardly carries any products I guess they say it's not a full Safeway like the one in Terra Linda! They hardly have any products the only carry a few things it's not a very good store except for the employees! I just put a five-star recommendation for Safeway in San Rafael on B Street because the employees are extremely helpful there. It went back that one price which I was wrong the lady went back and got the right butter for me so Safeway you get five stars because of your employees!

Always expensive and always just a place that keeps charging more and more. And prices differ from store to store depending on the area. They don't have stocked shelf's ever and the packages keep getting smaller. Remember when you used to get 10 waffles well now you get 8 and it's priced higher then it was when you got 10. Lego hostess and all the major food manufacturers are doing this it's crazy why won't they just leave our food alone and keep it at prices we can afford? You can't get ahead when they keep shorting us and charging more and more. GIVE US A BREAK

Honestly wish I could give zero stars! Not one to write bad reviews, but just had a terrible experience here today. The lady in the deli was rude and obnoxious and didn’t even bother to wear gloves when touching our food. At the checkout, I moved to a different self - check stand and the lady monitoring the area got visibly mad at me. I understand working at Safeway isn’t the dream job, but they shouldn’t treat people with such disrespect.

I just returned from Safeway. I got some deli sandwiches, and their "signature potato salad". I just finished the salad, it was really good. I got 1/2 lb and ate it all, and wished I had more. I also got some other things to and treated myself to a dozen Roses. The flowers are always good, their bakery is great as well. It's like a Grocery store, a flower shop, deli and bakery all in one. The selection is overwhelming, but you will probably be happy with this store.

I love my local Safeway, they carry the majority of products seen throughout the US. Staff isn't always easy to find but they are always polite and helpful. I love buying flowers, fresh fruit and veggies. My only downside is I don't eat poultry and the majority of their frozen meals they carry are all chicken - I have to use other grocery stores for these finds.

I was at the Floral Dept today and helped by the talented,Julia. What a wonderful experience. Julia made these flowers pop with her magical touch. She was quick too.Her bouquet was met with tears of joy! It was a dear friends 79th birthday! Thank you, Julia!! Safeway is lucky to have you!!

Each time I go to Safeway they seem to over charge me. The sign will say one thing I get to the register and sure enough I get charged more .I'm so over it.I guess in all fairness I must say I have had it happen many times at Smart and Final as well.So folks watch your receipts. It adds up over time.

Had been met with bad service from deli again ,from same angry lady. I always forgive one bad experience and I always thank people for their help. Bad service and dried old food. At some point you should not serve food that has been under lights too long. This has happened enough times to stop using your deli.

Staff is friendly and aisle knowledgeable. It is always a huge help when you have no idea where the thyme infused chips and french sour cream and onion dip are, and employees give you detailed turn by turn directions on how to find it.I made up that dish, but it sounds good...idea someone?

Absolutely the worst Safeway in all of the Bay Area, I'd have to say. It is always absolutely disgusting, never ever are the floors clean, inside the store and outside of it, the lines are always extremely long, and though the location is... Ok? I don't really feel comfortable with the type of crowd I constantly see hanging around outside of the store. I will always go to absolutely ANY other Safeway location except this one!

DON'T GET A SANDWICH HERE. This is the first review I've ever written. I couldn't let this one slide. Most rude customer service I've ever seen. Woman was literally barking orders at the customers "go get a drink!" And "what do you want on it? Hurry! Tell me what you want!" while the old lady scrambled to decide and was actually apologizing. She almost looked frightened! Then she looked at me and shook her head with the customer standing right there, as if we shared some common trait of extreme disrespect.When she made the sandwich she literally threw the ingredients on and then SHOWERED it in mayonnaise. I was so disgusted by what she calls a sandwich I left and drove to Subway instead. Go literally anywhere else!P.S tried to call and report the employee but nobody would answer the customer service line and they don't allow messages.

My least favorite Safeway in Marin, but it is a great location for people in San Rafael.They are quite a small Safeway, and many things you will find out of stock; much more here than at other locations.
