VCA San Martin has truly gone above and beyond for my Mom and her cat “Baby”. The kindness and compassion they have shown her was beyond amazing and genuine. They have helped accommodate appointments, taking time out of their personal and work day to research and provide my mom with resources, and offered to help wherever they can showing so much love to “Baby”. A very special shout out to Katy and Lauren for always being so kind and helpful and going out of your way ! Also thank you to Dr. O’Hearn for providing the best treatment for Baby’s stomatitis, where every other veterinary clinic could not . The quality of life she has now is unbelievable! I have never experienced such amazing customer service , professionalism , respect and support towards a client and providing the most excellent medical care to our pet kids . We cannot thank you enough and will always highly recommend VCA San Martin.- Linda Mitchell ( Baby’s Mom)

VCA saved our Mutly, we thought she wasn't going to make as she slowly started to not walk to not being able to sit up, eat, poop or pee. Found to be she had inflammed spinal fluid with alot of pain and with meds she is almost back to running. Great turn around from 5 days ago. The staff was so sweet and did everything they could. Forever grateful.

The people that work here are truly amazing. They are literal lifesavers! My dog needed emergency surgery & as a college student in my young 20s there was no way I was going to be able to afford what other hospitals in/near SF & San Mateo county were quoting me for his exploratory laparotomy surgery. I was recommended this hospital VCA in San Martin and it was one of the biggest blessings ever. I was so worried I was going to have to put my dog down/give him up— I ended up having to pay $3/4k for his surgery here compared to $8k-$12k at the more expensive hospitals. The people that work here truly care and have so much compassion with you. I’m so incredibly grateful for them saving my dogs life , I will definitely come here again if he were to get sick again!

VCA San Martin was so helpful in getting my cat Marvin back to his old self! They were able to accommodate me with an appointment quickly. The vet staff were efficient, thoroughly explained any concerns I had, and made sure my questions were answered. Every interaction I had from the receptionist to the vet were so kind and caring. They even let me hold the baby goats they were taking care of, and sent me home with a toy for my cat! Though I was so worried, Marvin is already feeling so much better after receiving his medication, thank you VCA San Martin!

My little guy was bitten on the face by 2 different rattlesnakes. At 30 LB the venom acted fast. Even with him having his annual booster shot he was going to die.As I raced in my car with him beside me I was making calls looking for a place with anti venom for him.VCA has it and the team was ready for Jake as I rushed through the door with him in my arms.As we entered the room we where helped by a professional group of care givers. They knew what to do and how to get it done quicklyI'm sorry I don't know there names but they are all heros.Even the Doctor took time to call another doctor with a couple questions about Jake just to know everything was being done PERFECTLY.Thank you all so muckLove Kirk and Jake

Recently I had to put my dog to forever sleep. The staff here is the BEST!!! They really do care about your pet. And you as well when going through a difficult time. Thank you sooooooo much VCA for everything. Even the condolences card I got in the mail!! Very personal and I've never had that before from a vet hospital.

I absolutely love this place! Everyone who works there is so kind and so great with Blue! I love how clean it is and that they always follow up to see how Blue is doing! I also love how easy their app is to use and the fact that there is a 24 hour vet to chat with. Definitely recommend!

The moment I walked in with my little dog Fiona, who was in much pain we were received with kindness and concern immediately. Everyone in there is super loving to animals after my horrible experience the night before at arch veterinary services in San Jose, I was grateful to find the VCA San Martin Animal Hospital. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you did for Fiona🐶💜

Do not take your pets here if you love your pet. I took my dog in because he wouldn't walk. The only option they gave me was to put him to sleep. They refused to do anything else or even try to look into the issue. Another time, we took out pet here for a leg surgery and they operated on the wrong leg. We paid $4000 and all they offered a discount to work on the correct leg. I regret ever taking my pets here. We lost 3 pets in 1 year do the negligence of this place. So if you love your pets, do not bring them here.

Summary:Deceptive practice beyond the regular checkups. Manipulative and hidden prices just like a used car dealership. Wellness exam price is $98.50 (which I didn't come in for). Drove 2 hrs for a medical emergency they falsely advertised.Story:I frantically called for a rabies check on a kitten I found in my backyard that bit me hard. The receptionist put me on hold to check if they are able to check for rabies. He then set up an emergency checkup the same week and confirmed this is for rabies. I received an email confirmation stating "medical" appointment. Of course I tried getting another vet that may take me sooner and all stated rabies tests aren't available without brain tissue. But this facility stated they could do some check (vague). I also asked the price and he was very vague (around $80 he said).During the appointment, the vet stated they don't do rabies check. I asked why I'm here and she stated for a regular checkup. No other conversation in regards to the medical issue of why I came was brought up.I came in for an emergency medical check on rabies, was instead treated for a regular exam (ear check, weight, and temperature) and was charged $100. I already had the kittens checked so I didn't need another wellness exam.I also didn't need to drive 2 hrs roundtrip to this facility. The receptionist should have truthfully told me this procedure isn't possible.

If you want your pet to be properly cared for this is the place! 💓 My beloved cat of seven years had to be put down due to her declining health and while that is heavy on the heart coming here made it much less heavy of my situation. I knew that when I had given them my cat, I had put her in good caring hands. It’s very tough losing a best friend but the nurses and doctors here were very nice, sympathetic and very professional and I just can’t thank them enough for their amazing work and ability to care for your loved ones. Sympathy is hard to come by now a days at most shelters. Thank you to everyone who made Peeche’s last moments a good and comfortable experience 💗

We were able to get our two-year-old bulldog in on short notice. He was experiencing extreme pain from his rear leg. The staff was very courteous and professional. Doctor Dania Shirk was great she took xrays and made time to explain the results of them and our opinions. We all able to get Anti-inflammatory and pain medication for him. I'm thankfull To say he is doing better now. Thanks to Doctor Shrik and her staff we have our bundle of joy back being happy again. Thanks

What is up with VCA They will not give any pricing except $92. Price for EXAM! I'm on a fixed income, I just need to know a ballpark price low to high on full bloodwork and UTI. I don't think that was much to ask for, yet VCA won't give any pricing!I have to get the money together to pay, so I need a ballpark figure so I can pay! Once they get you in office it's to late, we love are family members/pets so much and VCA knowing that can jack up pricing that's why they won't give you a ballpark price for testing!Uncaring Veterans money hungry so selfish!

5-stars for Dr Jensen and her Vet Techs. Best Vet we've had at VCA San Martin since Dr Keesling. Great at asking, listening, and offering solutions & options. She's fantastic. 3-stars for VCA pricing which is set by the VCA chain. That's why the 4-star review.

Our dog had a very sudden and bad anaphalactic reaction to his rabies vaccine, luckily, before we had left the office. It was late afternoon and our doctor, who was actually getting ready to leave, came back in to take care of him. He needed IV fluids, steroids, and benedryl to treat the reaction. I appreciate so much that she and the techs stayed late to take care of him and make sure he was OK so we could take him home. Great place.

Horrible rip off place in San Martin. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! Unless you have more money than sense! We got a puppy last year, took her there, and got the puppy package, supposedly about $500, but they have been charging all different amounts, not the $46.99 a month it's SUPPOSED to be. Sometimes it's $71.99 a month, sometimes it's $118 a month, or this month they billed us twice in 10 days, $41.99 and $71.99, and we called and cancelled 2 months ago since we moved over 50 miles away! But THE WORST PART IS: when we first brought the puppy in for her 1st shots, we didn't know whether or not we wanted to get her fixed or not and we were told we could upgrade any time when we decided if we wanted to get her fixed. So 6 weeks later we decided to get her fixed and when we

This hospital dues a great job communicating with the owners of the pets they see. From setting up an appointment to reminding you about your appointment to checking in while they are taking care of your animal to letting you know what the cost will be up front. A very caring facility

They ripped us off. We bought a plan for our dog, and we didn't know whether or not we wanted to get her fixed, and they told us we could change our plan any time, but 2 months after we bought it we decided that yes, we wanted to get her fixed, (after her first heat it looked like a serial killer had covered our floor with blood!) But when we let them know we decided to fix her, they gave us a bill for nearly $3,000.00 and when I complained, they smiled and said we would have had to change it in the first 30 days..... But of course they didn't tell us that, they promised us we could change it anytime..... So they obviously planned to rip us off from the very beginning! Don't take your pets here!

BUYER BEWARE! This VCA has vet techs that are not properly trained, the front desk staff are nice until you have an issue or the vet techs give you bad or wrong information, then they become rude and argumentative and threaten you.The veterinarian was professional and knowledgeable however I will not be going back to this VCA until they train their employees properly! They use Bait & Switch to over charge customers and quote discount programs like "First Free Feline Exam" then try to charge $83.00 after the appointment! This is highly unethical.I have been very happy with VCA Campbell, and VCA Blossom Hill Road, however San Martin VCA is extremely unprofessional.

This review is mixed. VCA San Martin Animal Hospital has been the only vet clinic I've used in the last ten years, and always I have felt great with the care. Yet, recently a horrible thing happened, and I feel compelled to write about it. Note, folks have bad days, myself included.I would first like to mention, the manager is a kind person, and a skilled person, and did what she is able to rectify a disagreement with Dr. Katie Jensen and me. Dr. Jensen, as I told you it is my view you gave poor care to my Queensland Heeler, Docky, and further put him at risk for suffering and declining health due to your failure to diagnose and your subsequent inaction. My Dog came down ill, and I took him to VCA Saturday 15th, but the Vet did not take a report, perhaps due to Covid concerns, but instead had a technician take it. Perhaps somewhere in the discussion that the dog had a painful upper left leg and neck was not carried to Dr. Jensen, that we suspected an abscess. Despite the painful and swollen area on the dog, that caused him to wince when it was touched, the vet did not identify the abscess. She ran blood work to identify slightly elevated white blood cell counts. She prescribed antibiotics and pain killers, and charged some $700+.The wonderful manager attempted to find a place to obtain the antibiotics, but was unsuccessful, and her recommendation was to wait until Monday and obtain the medications from the San Martin Clinic.Sunday the Dog seemed reasonable, but that evening worsened. I stayed up all night, and perhaps about 3:00 AM, the abscess burst, leading to blood and fluids on the floor. My Fiance cleaned the wound, and Monday I slept having been up all night, and the dog seemed better. Tuesday was another down day for me, the dog went for a walk, and was cared for by my lovely fiance, cleaning the area, and he seemed on the mend.On Wednesday, my fiance noticed a large 5" rip that exposed the muscle of the dog and it looked like a chicken when you rip the skin off. The dog went back to the clinic. Naturally I was upset the abscess had not been identified, as it could have been lanced, but I said nothing.Dr. Jensen, I received a call from you in which you explained to me it was my fault for not giving the dog antibiotics, and that was why the abscess burst. I tried to explain to you that I was unable to obtain them until Monday, but you refused to listen, talked over me, and tried to make me feel bad for my dog's condition, a dog I love. I tried to explain to you that you failed to identify an abscess, and that you were lying to me trying to make me feel bad for not caring for my dog: I was unable to. That you would tell me to come pick up my dog with an open wound of five inches is, in my view, a violation of any standard for vet. care. I do not care if you were unhappy that day, I do feel YOU failed to find that which you would have been able to had you discussed directly with me, and failed to through the VCA Covid process. It seems it's OK for you to send Technicians and potentially expose them to Covid, while you remain safely inside, and do not obtain the direct information from caring pet owners.I was unable to obtain the antibiotics, and the dog seemed on the mend.Again the manager was wonderful, and tried to convince Dr. Jensen to care for the dogs gaping wound, and to provide the antibiotics. Katie Jensen refused, even to prescribe antibiotics.Again, the manager was great, and returned our money. However, it took forty minutes to do so, and it was late, and so it took until the next day to find a qualified vet.We did, and this vet on Winchester, ArchVet, who sedated Docky, identified another nearby abscess in another painful place identified to the VCA technician, put in a shunt, sewed him up, gave both antibiotics and pain medications, and kindly and without payment cleaned his teeth and clipped his nails, all for less than $1,200.00 late on Wednesday evening, 20th. The follow up appointment as I understand it, is free of charge.

Rip off place. Even after they screwed me over on my dog's plan, lying to me anout what it covered, then I moved away in February 2018, notified corporate that I moved, they are still billing my credit card in June 2019. I told them it is not worth it for me to drive 2 hours to an appt. Then I moved to Arkansas and they STILL won't stop charging me, and I don't even own the dog anymore! I haven't sincr last year!
