This is the best place to get live feeder mice/rats, new pets that are reptiles, freshwater fish, seawater fish, and they have live coral! They have this tank with the 2 most friendliest rays you can pet! This place is a truly a gem. Support your local business and buy your stuff here!I bought a hognose snake at the 2023 SLO Reptile Expo. We went over to their booth, got an amazing price for her enclosure and bedding, and wanted to start her on live pinkies. This place gave us a great deal for the enclosure plus a coupon for our first visit to their store.

Highly recommended if you live near this store they carry a good mix between saltwater and freshwater. They have very nice staff and have a very clean store.

The guy working there was super helpful. Explained the different types of neon tetras they had and told me about how to keep my water just right. They have an extensive assortment of coral and salt water fish as well as fresh. At the time I was there, July 2020, there has a beautiful trigger fish and 2 rays in the store. They also have a good selection of koi. The same guy, sorry I didn’t get his name, let me know I could get 6 fish for the size tank I have. I left with 6 fish and they’re doing well.

Great place to go to shop for an aquarium or add livestock to your aquarium. I was very hesitant to switch from freshwater to saltwater due to my lack of knowledge of how to maintain a healthy saltwater reef tank. However, thanks to Paul, his crew and the support they provided made me confident enough to make a step in to saltwater hobby. "Tropics Aquarium professionals " helped me every step of the way.Starting with choosing right equipment, livestock and maintenance methods to delivering, installing and plumbing my aquariums.I would greatly recommend to use their services, experience and positive energy.Defently visit "Tropics Aquarium " and see for your self. Employee named Josh was very knowledgeable and helpful with what kind of snails and aquatic plants would suit my aquarium best. Also warned me about the excessive growth of duckweed and told me how to avoid accidentally introducing it into my tank. Overall great experience, would recommend

I wish I could remember the guy's name who helped us! What a fantastic human. We stumbled on this store by accident and ended up coming away with an incredible education and the confidence to install a saltwater tank in future. Really appreciate the level of service in this shop - and it wasn't just our main guy. A couple of the ladies and one other gentleman all shared their pointers and tips as they were present at different parts of the conversation. Hopefully the owner of this shop appreciates his awesome staff! I got the impression that he did.

I like this store they have healthy fish. Only down fall is trying to get help. If there feeding the reptiles and you need help good luck. I got attitude that she had to climb off her ladder to help me with my fish purchase. I will be pack but service is poor.

They have a great selection of both fresh water and salt water fish and are quite knowledgeable on both varieties. They also offer fresh and salt water to purchase which is very handy if you live in an area with hard water.They've also recently expanded into the reptile business, so if you're interested in a scaly friend they are a great choice for that as well!

The general manager there was awesome! Super informative. We wanted to get a goldfish and know a good bit about them before buying. She was very sweet and helpful. Also recommended some good products for care and feeding that we purchased :)

Best freshwater shrimp (for pets, not to eat!) in San Luis Obispo! This is a well-stocked fish store with lots of saltwater coral and fun things to look at, including koi for a pond.

We had an excellent experience. The staff (Clara and others) is knowledgeable, patient and helpful. They answered all of my questions as well as my kids questions. We are new reptile owners and we felt really good about bringing home a spotted gecko. I am happy to continue to support this local business!

Great fish store! The staff is super helpful and nice. They get lots of fun and unique fish in, and it's evident that Paul puts lots of thought into the items he stocks. They are always happy to help and will even test your water for issues. If you are looking for something special, just ask and they can often order it for you!

Even if you don’t keep fish but just keep reptiles it’s worth it to come here! I only have reptiles and I just got my first snake. As a college student I am from out of town, and the place I got my snake is in my hometown. He was a good eater at first but then he went off feed and didn’t eat for almost a month and a half! I had been buying food for him from chain stores and he refused all of them, but I found this place online and saw a few snake pictures. I decided to go in, even if they couldn’t help me with my Ares I would still get to see some cool fish. So I went in and found great quality food and super great advice! He just ate and is looking happy!

I have been visiting tropics for years now. from the old owner, to the new owners. I can honestly say they have the best quality stuff around , in terms of fish/coral care.Paul is basically your local National Geographic instructor for all things fish/coral😆no but really although I have been in the hobby for ten years, I seem to learn something new every time I visit! Even their employees are extremely knowledgeable... that’s very important to me as a fish nerd.Highly recommend this store for anyone who is trying to get into the hobby, or anyone who is an all time expert within the hobby. Tropics never seems to fail at making me want more and more 😆🔥🔥

I had bought a 32 cube from them right at a year ago. It cracked and the only thing I could think of to do while it was pouring water out was to call Tropics. They were a huge help and turned me around into a new tank that day saving most of the fish and everything else in the tank. I was shocked and surprised at how the acted and treated me as a customer. I would recommend them for anything and it is the only place I purchase in San Luis Obispo.The prices are fair and the quality is great, but the beyond that the customer service and support is what will bring me back every time and recommend to anyone who has fish in the area. Local company, Great people, deserve the support.

They are very welcoming and knowledgeable on their fish and corals also they go the extra mile to ensure that their fish are going through quarantine before being sold. It was definitely worth the 2 hr drive from Fresno and I will continue to come this location for my coral and fish needs.

I like it there. Gave me great advice and recommendations for my bearded dragon. The two ppl I spoke with where very knowledgeable. And they have some pretty cool fish to look at. I will definitely be going back. The other stores cater more to dogs n cats rather than reptiles. So this is my new go to place. Thank you guys! (🤗💋 frm Zilla🐉)8/17/22... I'm still coming here for my bearded dragon needs. And everyone is just so friendly and they know so much about my beardie. Will still continue to go there. There are other reptiles you can purchase there or just look at... Along with fish. all kinds of accessories for whatever yr shopping for. I recommend coming here if you want to feel like yr the only customer in the store,.,. All of their attention is focused on you and your needs. It's nice.
