Worth every penny of care! Clean, efficient, caring, personable, and all very nice. I honestly highly recommend this place. I think that I’ve never felt more safe at a vet in my life. Very happy to bring my two-year-old beagle in and my eight-year-old long hair calico! Thank you Mission Vet!Just as a sidenote, I’ve worked at a couple different dog resort kennels in town. So with that said, I really just wanna emphasize that I know a decent amount of dog care and I know a great deal about customer service and patient care one of the best bets in town.

Mission animal hospital was recommended to us by some friends and we were very thankful they did. The team here is very friendly and attentive. We have a new puppy and subsequently had a million questions - which they patiently answered thoughtfully. Pricing didn’t seem bad either. Definitely recommend.

We recently had to have our beloved pup euthanized after 12 years of companionship and a 4-month battle with cancer. The care and compassion the vets and technicians showed us and our companion during her final moments was extraordinary.I had reservations about doing this at the clinic versus having it done in-home. Everyone needs to make their own decision, but I'm grateful we went to Mission Animal Hospital. The environment was comfortable, the process was quick and peaceful, and ultimately, I can compartmentalize that time outside of my day-to-day activities. If you end up needing end-of-life care for your furry friend, know that Mission Animal Hospital is a humane option that cares for you and your pet.

Felt like they were doing everything to get money out of us. Went there twice for a patch of ringworm the size of a quarter. The first treatment they gave us didn’t work so we had to go back and get a different kind of medicine. Paid over 300 each time. Not sure why it wasn’t handle correctly the first time. Then they tried to get us to come back a third time. Would not recommend them. They just want your money. My cat also HATES it there. He has never meowed and hide at a vet like he did there.

While vacationing on the central coast we observed our dog urinating frequently and at times with urine incontinence over nearly a week. We also noticed she was drinking more water than normal. Since we had another week on vacation we took her to Mission Animal Hospital to be evaluated. We were extremely impressed with the compassion and care their team provided. Dr Jami advised of options which were affordable and would assist in a diagnosis and next steps. Dr. Jami explained her results and created a plan of care. Dr. Jami was very knowledge and caring. We were very impressed with Dr. Jami and her team at Mission Animal Hospital and would highly recommend to those lucky to be living on the beautiful central coast.

My wife and I have taken our dogs and cats here for many years and have been super happy with the service. They are so patient with the fact that we want to take natural approaches to things when we can and are not pushy about all the options you could do but maybe don't have in your budget. They just let you know it's a good time for it or to try to plan on it coming up! I also recommend them to literally all of my clients! Happy healthy corgis!

We've been coming here for years, and Mission does seem to have competent vets – though lately they've been bouncing us from one vet to another with little continuity for our cats' health. But after the way we were treated today, we'll be looking for another vet.Mission is all about the bottom line, not about your pet. They push services and treatments – anything that means billable hours. When you ask for something from them in return, they can't be bothered. One of our cats has a skin allergy, and in spite of the high cost of hydrolyzed food, we decided we need to give it a try – because we care about his health. We tried to get the prescription filled through Chewy today, but since I couldn't find the paper prescription we'd been given at our last veterinary visit a few months ago, Mission Animal Hospital couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone to confirm we had a valid prescription – which we do – when Chewy called them. If a doctor's office can do this on a regular basis, when the pharmacy calls them, a veterinary office can, too.I was treated rudely on the phone when I called today. I was told I needed to go in person to pick up a paper prescription. I live in the 5 cities and not in SLO, and it's not convenient for me. I frankly expect a rude response to this review – all about protocols and procedures of Mission Animal Hospital. That's what they told me on the phone. Bottom line: if a doctor's office (a human doctor's office) can pick up the phone to confirm a prescription, a vet's office can, too.It may seem like a trivial thing. Maybe it is. (It is, sure.) But when I'm thinking about a veterinary hospital, I'm thinking about the worst that can happen to our pets. I don't want to be treated like I was treated today when I'm in an emergency with my animals that I love dearly. And Mission really doesn't care about you. They see you and your dog and cat as another line item in their 401K plan. Just another entry for profit.Edit: In response to Bonnie Haley's answer, which contains a few misstatements of fact:1. We asked to see our previous vet, Dr. Sara, when we made our last appointment. We were told that her hours had been significantly reduced and if we wanted to see her, we'd have to wait for months. Our prescription for our cat's flea medicine, which he needs given his allergy, was about to expire. They're not willing to work with you on that either (billable hours). So, no, you're not, as Bonnie Haley suggests, "free" to see any vet of your choosing. Mission chooses for you.2. It's true the prescription was emailed to us – but only after much insistence on my part on the phone. The technician / receptionist I spoke with was very clear that the Mission policy was that I had to drive to the clinic to pick up a piece of paper in person, regardless of inconvenience for customers.3. Notice the frequency of reviews for this clinic, and how many poorer reviews have been happening lately. I think this has to do with management changes in the clinic. We used to love coming here and felt our pets were in good hands –which was why we have been clients for years. The vets, I want to reiterate, have always been there for us, and have never abandoned us or made us feel unwelcome. It is the management which makes me feel that I am not valued as a client.4. To prove this, Bonnie Haley "fired" me as a client via email after I posted this review – asking me where to send records. I told her where to send my records, because with this kind of management of the clinic, I do not – as I said before – feel safe with my pets being seen in the clinic, no matter how good the vets are.

Friendly, helpful staff. Was able to see, diagnose and complete the surgery within a week. Veterinarian was thorough, went through all options for treatment of cancerous tumor in my 12 year old plott hound. Was able to remove tumor and has been great with follow up care. Highly recommend them!

This is definitely my favorite animal clinic in San Luis Obispo! All the people there are great with the animals. My dog Rayo is very nervous every time when he has appointments. This time was different, the nurses and doctors were very patients making to my dog feels comfortable. Even when he felt nervous in the visit. This is the best clinic! 100% recommended!!!

Have been taking our Red LabBeaucefus for over 5 years. They are awesome.. just added a new yellow lab and he loves it there. They are by far the most competent animal hospital in SLO. they always follow up, call and remind you of upcoming appointments, and their staff is so loving and knowledgeable.Wouldn't trust anyone else with our Fur Babies.

Mission Animal Hospital is wonderful! All the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful! My special pup was super nervous, but everyone was so patient and kind to make the experience for him a little easier! Scheduling appointments, checking-in, and checking-out were all seamless and done in a quick, efficient manner! All the vets and helpers were super through at explaining what they were doing and recommending products and care plans! They have a super cute treat bar in the lobby, and the interior of the entire building is super spacious! The next day after our visit, the vet had called to check-in and make sure my dog was doing alright after his round of vaccinations, which I really appreciated! Definitely recommend this wonderful place! They really care!

I've been taking my cats there for 3+ years and they are wonderful! I had a kitten pass away last year and the staff at Mission Animal was very supportive & compassionate. They even sent a letter home to share they're thoughts. 10/10 would recommend.

Our first time here and they were very attentive to my dog’s needs, the vet and tech did try to hard to upsell products that my dog did not need. They wanted to take my dog in the back room to give him his shot, when I asked if they would do it in the room, they reluctantly said ok. It is very clean and my dog’s name on the welcome board was really cute.

I came to Mission on the recommendation of someone I knew online. She told me Dr Ash took such good care of her dog that she said I should take my Yuki there . She was right. I can recommend them on my FB page for cats, and have taken my baby boy back for another injury. You can see in these pictures that he had ripped open his shoulder. They were caring and well organized. I took him back for another injury. You can see from his time climbing the fence that he is an active boy. He is a strong boy also, and that is why he has that Tshirt. He has another issue now that I have to take him in for. I am more than happy with Mission and know all my babies will be in very good hands. They have gone above and beyond, including an ID card for Yuki, calls from the doctor, and follow ups to be sure Yuki was fine. Nice staff, friendly service, and knowledgeable. Can I add a 6th star here?

I recently took my 10-year-old Labradoodle to Mission Animal Hospital for a wellness exam after he was showing signs of an injury or arthritis. When I arrived, the team immediately set me up in an exam room—providing a couch instead of chairs in the room is a really thoughtful touch. All of the staff were extremely friendly and patient.I appreciate how easy it is to book online and that I didn't feel rushed when talking to the vet. She took a conservative approach, rather than pushing unnecessary exams and costs. The next day, a staff member called to follow up and ask how my dog was doing. It's a small thing but it meant a lot to me. I am relieved to find a vet that I feel good about and I will absolutely continue my pet's care here.

The Mission staff goes above and beyond for pets and pet owners to accommodate needs. We brought our cat in for a wellness check up and she puked in her kennel carrier along the way. The Mission staff kindly cleaned out the carrier for us.

Absolutely amazing care and supportive staff at Mission Animal Hospital. They take plenty of time with your pet and are gentle and caring. Their compassion when we lost one of our furbabies was more than expected and made it much easier for us. We love Dr. "Ash" and his staff.

Our mini Aussie Maggie is a handful and pretty skeptical of people. The wonderful staff at Mission make her feel comfortable and she is never anxious coming home from a visit. She was just spayed and the post-op directions for us were clear and helped us be less worried about the whole process. Thank you MAH!

I can’t say enough about how much I love MAH. In my opinion, my vet, Dr. Sarah, helped my very sick cat to live an additional three years. The entire staff is wonderful. Everyone is kind and compassionate. I have two other fur babies and I wouldn’t take them anywhere else.

Bailey, Bella and I LOVE Mission Animal Hospital - it's more than a Vet Hospital - it's a home to all of us - Cookies all the time, dog treats, and great, personalized care I've just not found anywhere else. I come over 25 miles to see them now, and can't imagine better care ANYwhere.I love my two little doggies, and found people who go way beyond what's even asked - the minute you walk into Mission, you're greeted - rarely have to wait and always end up with happy pets and best possible care. I won't change.

We've always had a great experience at MAH. Whether it is for routine visits and immunizations, to surgeries for our dog Hoover, we've always received conscientious and loving care from all the doctors and staff here. The location is very convenient too. Thanks for taking care of our Hoov Bag MAH!

I have a senior dog with a lot of anxiety/separation issues. She is currently on medication from another vet but started having diarrhea, poor appetite and Iethargic after going up on her dose. I called Mission Animal Hospital and they were luckily able to get her in same day. The receptionist was so helpful and answered all my questions. The office staff were very attentive, they truly listened to my concerns and they were very sweet to Baby Bear. The vet who saw us that day was very thorough. She offered a plan of action and didn't try to pressure me into testing but instead offered supportive care. I greatly appreciate that as it is already so challenging to watch your pet decline. We discussed next options and went home with meds to help with pain as needed.I received a follow up call the next day and they said to call at any time if her symptoms don't improve.Very grateful for this team, it's not ideal but their compassion makes all the difference.

I came to MAH a few years ago looking for a second opinion on one of my felines. Not only did they get to the root of her ailment, they did it with the most gentle spirit. I will never forget that my then 2 yr old daughter was fussy in the lobby while we waiting (as we had walked in) and one of the receptionists kindly came over and brought some kid friendly vet toys for her to play with. She even played with her while it was slow as she could tell I was a bag of nerves over my sick cat. She didn't have to do that, but she did and it made the biggest difference to me. Not only did they care about my animals they cared about my family. I never went back to my old vet. MAH is the best.

I have been to a number of vets across the country and I don’t think I have ever been in a more welcoming or kind environment. Friendly staff, great service, and impressive facility (couches in the room with music playing). This was an incredibly positive experience and we will be bringing all of our pets here in the future.

Friendly, no nonsense animal hospital. They expect payment at time of service pronto. But you have options. They except scratchpay, care credit, animals in need fund and what. If your in a pinch, this helps. The room your pet goes into has its name on dry erase board and a small doggy couch. 🤗 The staff are very good and caring of your pets.

Thanks for all that you do (and have done) for Andrew, Yoda and me. Your care is excellent and very loving. We feel like family, especially when we enter the exam room and find a special welcome message on the wall.

My golden Eli and I had a great first experience at Mission Animal Hospital. The staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The veterinarian was amazing as well. She was very down to earth, comforting, and pleasant to talk with. This was hands down the best Vet experience I’ve had. SLO is lucky to have MAH.

Mission Animal Hospital got both my new puppy and my middle aged cat in so quickly. I called and they were able to get them in on a non emergency basis within the week. Though I can’t speak on emergency basis, I can only assume they’re as efficient. They offered a “puppy package” for my 8 week old puppy which included everything she needs for the first year vet wise at a great rate but did not make me feel pressured at all to purchase it, just presented it as my choice. As well as all treatment options I was informed and included in the choice on if I thought specific vaccinations were what I wanted when they are not life threatening. Dr. Ash is very straightforward and both my fur babies were calm and non reactive with him. I really appreciate and recommend this vet! Thank you team!

I love the staff at Mission Animal Hospital. The whole staff couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. I take my senior lab retriever here for laser therapy and always feel like she's in good hands with this clinic. Thank you for great service and for being friendly and showing concern when we visit, it truly goes a long way!
