We were anxious about how our dog Penny would be when taking her to Doggie Salon & Spa, as she is very attached to my husband and I. We were relieved the moment we walked in, as the groomers could see she was nervous and immediately got on the floor to lay down with her and give her pets. Penny looked amazing and gave loves to the grooming team as we walked out the door. We strongly recommend Doggie Salon!

I take my dog Benji, once a week for a bath and everyone there is so so kind and helpful! They are very flexible when I need to change dates and are always so caring when they greet Benji. They greet him like he is their own dog that they have missed. They are super fast and do such an amazing job getting him clean and bright white! They are always so accommodating in that they use unscented products on him per my request. They take very good care of him and I am so grateful to have found this place! ❤️💗❤️

Great service. You could tell these folks are kind hearted pet lovers. Our pups got great service. The Shih Tzu was cuter than ever after grooming and the Corgi’s fur was so soft and nails were smooth after his spa time. Highly Recommend!

Jessie is a nervous dog at any grooming but Stephanie does her best to calm her down and do a great job on trimming up her very thick coat!

Don’t take your dog here unless you want them to come out with a buzz cut. That’s the only service they offer apparently…this was the longest they would cut. I explained I wanted a trim on a long-haired chihuahua. This is how it came out…..Long-haired dogs beware!Oh…and I tipped because they kept my dog for longer than they wanted to. They told me 3-4 hours and called in two and a half. I guess I’m too nice, but it looked like the ladies had more than they can handle and were overcrowded.Why did I pick this place? Because it’s recommended by my hair dresser. I trust my stylist, but I don’t like that she recommended this placeI’ve done better myself, not traumatized my dog and not paid $85.And there’s one before Photo just so you can see how short it is!UPDATE 2 WEEKS LATERI took Radar to a new groomer and he was SCARED. Never have I seen my little dog shake in such terror. I don’t know what the hell they did to my dog, but they shouldn’t be in business! I re-read some of the reviews and noticed cuts, shell shocked dogs and yes, Radar had to pee and was super thirsty when I picked him up. Apparently, they don’t give the dogs water, don’t take them out and handle them worse than cattle.WHY ARE YOU IN THE DOG INDUSTRY JUST TO ABUSE THEM?!

Groomers and Bathers are incredible their love for animals and humans show on their beautiful work , carefully taking requests for grooming detail and baths they do a fabulous job I cannot say enough and pups are always happy ! Highly recommend and Stephanie goes above and beyond to ensure clients are happy with the service 👏👏👏👏👏

Excellent groomer! We took our 8lbMaltipoo to be groomed there today. A wonderful experience from start to finish. Clean facilities, caring and kind staff and very organized. Jean did a wonderful job grooming her as she listened to what we wanted and did exactly what she said she would. She was ready on time and looks great. My appreciation to all the staff for a positive experience and great service. We will come back whenever in the area.

I love this place! Brought my Yorkie there a few times. This time I opted to get her some color, which I wanted purple. Pabutsa came out perfect, way better than expected. I thought she would have a purple sheen, but she came back vibrant and very artistic! The cut was amazing as well. Thank you Doggie Day Spa, Pabutsa Kimoshe is sooooo happy with her transformation. We will be back!

I can’t thank Destiny, Josh, Steph, and Zoe enough for the thoughtful card and the check in calls for me & Fitz during my back surgery and month + recovery at home. I can’t believe my dog groomers brought me to tears when I read their card and messages. It’s wild as a successful human who doesn’t have family support, all it takes is a thoughtful card from some of the most amazing humans to break me and make me feel seen and loved!And the fairies thank you for your paw prints!BeanieMaddieChompyAshaIf you’re not a member of doggy salon and spa what are you doing with your life?!

Buyer be ware! Please read all one star reviews first and decide for yourself! If you’re still not convinced, read on…Had an appointment today for our pup. Was told when we scheduled that we were the only appointment that afternoon and they would assess our dog’s need when we arrived. When we took her in, they told us she’d need a full cut because she had a couple of mats and that due to the fact that they had 4 other cuts that day (first lie) they couldn’t accommodate us. They also said that we didn’t have an appointment for that type of grooming (lie number 2). The shop smelled horrible, there were a number of dogs in the back area loose barking and growling at us. Watched one of the “non groomers” grab and toss a white standard poodle back in a cage after it somehow got out. By the time we finally decided this wasn’t worth our time, the story for our appointment had changed a handful of times. The gal we spoke to said she was the only groomer there that day. Yet another lie because the first time we took our dog there, one of the groomers we met our first visit, that we’d consulted with, was in the back in plain sight. We asked for pricing and she clearly had no idea, so made it up as she went along.Now, I’ve read the reviews for this place, so I’ll just save them the time of a petty response. We are not racist, (my husband is Hispanic and I’m white, same as the people that were “working” today) which tends to be a common reply for them. We walked out before they cancelled our appointment for us and there will never be a future appointment there, by our choice, not theirs. We do in fact brush our dog daily, so no need to call us lazy. We were not, unkind, disrespectful or rude to anyone there, unlike them. I think I’ve covered all of your condescending and childish responses I read that you’ve made to your other dissatisfied customers. Not sure if Neal or Neil is still there, but he needs to do better with his employees. Bottom line… bullet dodged. Never again.

It's quite apparent they have changed owners. They charged me 25.00 for a nail trim on a Chihuahua!!!! Come on people. May I suggest CARE FOR PAWS 👍😇 THEY REALLY ARE SUPERB 😁

Made an appointment. Then someone calls back and told me they canceled my appointment because I was unhappy at previous appointment. I told her, I was fine with service and they lost my paperwork and took over 15 mins to get rabies information and then they canceled my dogs appointment. I was moving the next day. Bummed not mad. Now I'm mad! Why won't you schedule me???? I'm not gonna beg for your services. But if your going to refuse service, keep your information straight!!!

I have never written a review before, but I think it’s important to warn people of what they are getting into. In the past I have disregarded the fact that some of the employees have bad attitudes, and continued using their services, because it is easy to get an appointment and most other groomers are not taking new clients, I’ve checked. Well after my last visit we are NEVER going back! They did a HACK job on my dog! He has a beautiful long coat, but his butt fur and belly were starting to get matted, so I asked if they could trim it this time. They SHAVED him! Down to the SKIN on his belly and hind end, and to about 2 or 3 inches thick on the rest of his body. They said they had to because of the matting, but really down to his skin? And why the rest of his body that was beautiful and had no matting? I think they were just rushing to get him done because they accidentally put him down for the wrong time. He is an extremely large dog that takes forever to brush out, so shaving him was just the quick lazy option. I am so disappointed. The worst part is it’s all uneven and is going to continue to look ridiculous as it grows out.

I’ve been to this groomer about 6 times now and I should have stopped much sooner. The workers that have encountered here have overall been incredibly rude. There have been a few nice ones but most have had such a bad attitude. And they don’t do a fabulous job. It’s just ok but the hair is so choppy and uneven. I asked my friend today if he had similar experiences when he takes his dog and he said definitely yes! He’s not going back and neither am I. Enough is enough!

I hate to write a bad review but my experience here was unfortunately very poor and I feel I need to warn others. I have taken my golden doodle here three times, and every time the staff hasn’t been overly friendly but nice enough. This last visit I was called to pick up my pup and on my way and they called me again to let me know some of his fur was matted and needed to be shaved. I politely responded I understand and that is fine, though I was confused why this wasn’t addressed before they called me to get him. When I got there the groomer in the back proceeded to yell about how my dog’s fur was so matted and that it was way more work than a partial cut. I awkwardly responded to the lady checking me out I was happy to pay more, after another awkward moment she poked her head behind the curtain to ask if she should charge me more, the groomer behind the curtain proceeded to yell back “no but I will never ever do this again” then just walked to the front with his shaved fur to show me, rolled her eyes and left.I would have happily paid more if someone would have called me at any point during the 3 hours they had my dog to tell me his hair needed to be cut more in some areas then expected. I also would have happily received information on how to help keep my dogs hair unmatted, rather than being yelled at.It was extremely unprofessional. I would like to assume she was just having a bad day but based on other reviews this appears to be a pattern. Also, if I am going to trust my dog with someone and they can’t even be nice to me for the 10 minutes I am there, I have no way of knowing how they treated my pup. I left feeling bad for my dog and disappointed and will never take my dog back there.

Do not take your dog to this groomer.It is unfortunate to write this, but I hope our story at Doggie Salon and Spa will provide some assistance to pet owners who are deciding where to take their pet to be groomed in SLO. I have taken my puppy to the salon twice now. The first time was fine. After he came home last week, we noticed he was red, raw, and physically distraught. His underbelly was completely shaved to the skin (we did not ask for this) and had a 3-4 inch long razor burn along his belly through to his privates. We contacted the salon, asked for the owner to provide some guidance and were told she would be in the next morning to look at him and discuss what happened. We took time out of our morning arrived the next day at the requested time - she was "out" so we left photos and a message with the salon, expecting a call back. We are still awaiting this call 4 days later.We would completely understand if there were parts of matted fur that needed to be shaved shorter than we wanted, but1. We should have been informed2. We should have been notified that his skin was showing severe signs of irritation.Our sweet puppy cannot physically walk without discomfort and is now standing + immediately scooting around to provide some relief to his red, now scabbing, razor burn.We have been left with no answers, no calls, and no apology for hurting our puppy, and disregarding our inquiries.Like I said, do not take your dog to this groomer.

We brought our dog who is very shy and unsure about everything here for a wash, nail trim, ear clean, and brush. And not only did they take us the day we called, but they were really friendly. Our first experience taking our dog to the groomer was great and will be back!

The owner Shelly is hands down the best dog groomer I have ever had. Shelly has passion for all the dag and care for the health and we'll being of our little family members. The staff is friendly and professional. Since moving from Austin, TX to the central cost, my dogs Buffy and Gracie have been getting the best in care. Thank you all at Doggie Spa.

I have been taking my labrodoodle here for over 2 years and haven't had any problems until this last visit. Normally, cuts take approx 3 hours to complete so I was surprised to get a call after 2 hours to pick him up. My dog was acting so strangely upon pick up and I didn't know why, so we left asap. Upon inspection, I noticed that his cut was abhorrent. The body hair was all uneven, the legs were different lengths and they didn't even touch his face which is where I had asked for the most trim. So, I returned with my dog 1 hour later to ask them to correct it. My dog was pulling backwards and trying his hardest not to go back in there, which is very unusual. They reluctantly and with resentment took him back to "fix" the problem. The body hair was never fixed, they tried cleaning up his face and left his ears and face cut VERY uneven. Even my husband commented that it looked like a blind man on a unicycle trimmed his hair! When we called back several days later to discuss with the owner, she was very rude and told us that their policy says corrections have to be made within 24 hours. She was very unprofessional and rude. We will NOT return to this facility and hope others heed this warning.

We have been going to the Doggie Spa for some time, but never again! I took my dog in on a Saturday and the entire crew seemed clueless. My dog was brought in at 1 pm and I was told he would be ready in 3-4 hours. This is normal and I have always been able to pick him up in that time frame. After not hearing anything from them, I called around 4:10 pm since they closed at 4:30 pm. The phone rang through to the owner who was not in the shop, but off for the day. She had them call me back, and they told me my dog would not be done until 6 pm since they were so busy. All of this concerned me for my dog and I went to the Doggie Spa to see what was happening. When I arrived, my dog looked shell-shocked and was on the table being trimmed. I asked when he had last been given water and they said when he was taken out of the bath at 1:30 pm. Four hours later, they are finally doing a haircut and have not provided him any water. He was dehydrated and stunned. I took him home and he drank water for the next 2 hours. I have not heard back from the owner and I am so disappointed in the complete disregard of the pets' well being in their care. I will never take my dog there again. Shame on you, Doggie Spa for making a dog suffer and treating a long-time client this way! You could have at least made an effort to contact me.
