I recently had to switch vets due to our previous vet retiring last year. The Arroyo Vet staff are absolutely amazing and definitely care about your furrkids! I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Andre today with our old man kitty Tigger, and she was absolutely stellar! He was calm and even let them brush him and scratch his chin! (We also met with Dr. Royalty with one of our dogs, and she is super nice too!) Tigger is our last remaining kitty from the group of 6 we had over the last 17 years, and she knew just how much he means to us. Thank you for putting my mind at ease Dr. Andre and staff!

Started coming here as a new pet owner about 5 months ago for my kitten Kimchi. The AVC staff has always been super approachable about all the questions I had and they've done a great job of explaining things to me along with handling Kimchi for her vaccines and blood tests. Highly highly recommend any pet owner nearby for this place not just for how great their customer service is but also because they have longer business hours than other clinics nearby in case you have an emergency outside of standard business hours. The level of care they provide for you and your pet sets a very high standard for all vet clinics.

I needed to switch to a Veterinarian office that is within walking distance of my home, and also had good care reviews. My dog, Dahlia, had her first wellness exam from Dr. Andre and staff and I was very pleased at the care Dahlia received. The Doctor and the staff made sure that Dahlia received a thorough check-up, took care of normal items of care for her and also recommended other important vaccinations and tests so I can continue to maintain her health. I am very happy with the care she received and would recommend Arroyo Veterinary Clinic to anyone looking for a place for their pet(s) to receive excellent care.

Consumers Beware: Bait and switch pricing. Constant "up-selling" of services not needed. Bogus testing. Bill Padding. After TWENTY years as a loyal customer, we are now realizing the deceptive business practices Dr. Mavi employs to sucker unsuspecting pet-lovers into paying for ridiculously expensive services that are not at all necessary. And watch out for the unexplained "miscellaneous" charges they tack onto your bill, ranging close to a thousand dollars! While our family is financially insecure, Dr. Mavi goes home to a 3.3 MILLION DOLLAR house every night that he probably afforded with all his ill-gotten gains. Not to mention the brand new “state-of-the-art” facility he’s having built… is it being built on his customer’s dime? I wouldn’t be surprised, with the amounts he tries to charge. I would also be remiss if I did not mention the false diagnosis and elder financial abuse committed by Dr. Vangilder at this same establishment. After making a few calls, we found that other local vets were MUCH more affordable and had more prompt appointment times available. Steer clear of the SCAMMERS at Arroyo Vet Clinic. They exploited our love for our pets, milked it for all it was worth, and they exploited our TRUST. What's MORE EYE-OPENING is that their other doctor, Dr. Kornfeld, authors books and other literature which read like instruction manuals for other vets on how to best rip-off their clients and make inflated profits. In one publication, (and I'm paraphrasing) he talks about how a vet can LEVERAGE their clients’ habits and patterns to turn more profit. Then goes on to say that clients who have paid for expensive procedures in the past are more willing to pay for other expensive procedures in the future- and these are the customers to target. He says to target pets with dental issues and senior pets. He offers a wealth of advice on how vets can invent profits out of thin air. He says the big bucks are in "preventative" care- teaching other vets that the way to maximize profits is to target owners of HEALTHY pets, under the guise of “preventative” care. Expensive diagnostic testing- you know, just to rule out any mystery illnesses that MIGHT be lurking inside- even though your pet displays zero symptoms of any illness, unnecessary annual exams, booster shots… He claims to have helped vet teams across 5 countries maximize their wealth with his dishonest methods. HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE NOT IN JAIL?

The team at Arroyo Veterinary Clinic was friendly, warm, caring, professional, patient, and most of all, knowledgeable. I felt very welcomed and trusted Dr. Mavi and the AVC staff immediately. My cat, Fiji, is a naturally fearful kitty and the AVC folks were very kind and helped her feel more comfortable. I worked in animal welfare for many years—the Arroyo Veterinary Clinic team is one of the best I’ve ever known. I very highly recommend them.

5 stars!! The vets and vet techs at Arroyo are so knowledgeable, kind, and caring - not only were they very helpful for a standard checkup, they were able to squeeze in one of my cats when he hurt one of his claws overnight despite their packed schedule and the fact that I had a job interview the same day. To get on my soapbox for a minute: it’s also so important to support locally-owned veterinary clinics like Arroyo! Private equity and large corporations (including Southern Veterinary Partners, Mission Veterinary Partners, and Mars Incorporated - yes, as in Mars bars and Milky Ways - which owns the Banfield Pet Hospital chain, the VCA Animal Hospital chain) are eating up local veterinary practices which hurts your pets, your wallet, and the veterinarians themselves financially and in terms of quality of care. Do your research and support local!

Decided to try them after the customer service went down hill at our last vet. So glad we did.We appreciate how they took the time to explain everything. Our cat gets temperamental when his paws are touched. They worked with him and afterwards he just wanted them to pet him. We also liked that the office set up. It is very efficient to get in and out with our fur baby.

When it's the pandemic, everyone owns a pet now, you live in Oakland/metro city, and every vet clinic or veterinarian in your town has a waiting list--this is how I found Arroyo Vet Clinic. Like taking care of your own health, it's always good to have a primary care physician (in this case, a vet) for your pet--someone that can track their health as a youngling to an adult. I had no problems making appointments at Arroyo Vet Clinic. Dr. Mavi was amazing and took his time with us. The team will not sell me anything I don't need, and I always felt like I had a choice. Also, this vet clinic is very reasonably priced! Sometimes I thought my bill would be more than it is, and I would be happy to see that it was less! The Dr. Mavi and the Arroyo Vet Clinic team took great care of Daisy, as well as the concerns of the pet owners. If I haven't moved out of state, I would have kept going to Arroyo Vet Clinic. Thank you for caring for Daisy for the past 2 years!

We are very happy that we found Arroyo clinic for our pets. We have three cats and after moving from Oakland we had trouble finding a clinic closer to our place. Arroyo was responsive and accepted our kitties. The service is great and the staff are very kind and caring. Also, they call back to let us know if the cats are due for any medications. The place has a big parking lot too. Overall we are very happy with this place.

Very caring for your pet(s). The staff and the Vet will explain thoroughly the treatment(s) that your pet(s) need. My Yunci enjoyed her visit to Arroyo. I had my mom's two fur babies with me and they allowed me to bring them in the room with Yunci. The staff felt that I did not want to leave them in the car. Very thoughtful. The treatments were more expensive than I thought they would be. However, the Vet helped to plan out treatments to help with costs. Great Team!Cassandra and Yunci

My pet and I had a wonderful experience at Arroyo Clinic. The doctor and nurses are very patient and kind to my pet cat. My cat is very timid and shy, but she felt comfortable with the doctor and nurses. Also, the nurses and doctor treated my cat very well which made me happy.

I'm a little late in writing this review since I'm busy in my professional life but I will give this veterinary clinic 5 stars. After having them take care of my cats and dogs for about 1 year, I can say that they are doing an excellent job and I can see that they truly care for my beloved pets.

Arroyo was a breath of fresh air after using a vet on the other side of town who we were very unhappy with. We were most impressed with how much time the vet spent evaluating our kitty. We ask a lot of questions and he went the extra mile to explain everything very thoroughly. The vet tech was very thorough as well. Staff was very nice and professional. Thank you. We will be back!

My dog ate fertilizer today and I called a few vets in the area worried like crazy! The vets at Arroyo were so calm, kind, and helpful. They let us come right away, even during a busy day, and took care of our pup. They followed quarantine procedures and made us feel comfortable dropping our dog off. They called and consulted with us over the phone several times throughout the visit, always updating us and getting permission on pricing and procedures. Thank you SO MUCH for helping our family!

All of the staff & Dr. Vangilder were caring, compassionate & wonderful with our dog Gigi.Dr. Vangilder saw that Gigi was scared on the table so she sat on the floor with her & wrapped her up while she started the exam to make her feel more comfortable. It was comforting to me that they took such good care of her. Gigi's teeth have to be pulled and I asked her for an estimate. I explained how my other dog's vet was pushy with me & said he needed a dental cleaning right away or he could die. Dr. Vangilder gave me an estimate & told me to feel free to shop around first, no pressure. I really appreciated that. I am switching our other dog's vet to Arroyo Veterinary Clinic as well. I am extremely happy with their service!@

I took my new kitten to get checked out during the stay at home order. The staff at Arroyo vet were very well organized and caring during this weird time. They made my kitty's first vet visit a pleasant one and although I wished I could have been in the exam room with her they called me afterwards to give me the details of the visit and answer my questions. I am taking her back this week for shots and Arroyo will be our clinic for any future needs.

We'd just moved into the area and my cat was feeling sick. I called Arroyo Vet Clinic and they were able to see us that same day! They did the necessary tests and everything turned out fine, thanks to their great care and attention. What can i say about the staff at Arroyo Vet that i have not said before; they are the most loving and caring group of workers that take their job above and beyond. Dr. Mavi is the most caring vet i have ever known. He listens to your issues you may have with your pet, and gives you the best advice. As for the staff of techs and the receptionists at the front desk, i always feel so welcomed when i walk through the door, and they treat my dogs as part of a big family, and not just another client.

Not knowing anyone in the area since moving here we were in need of a vet for our little girl Daisy. They are located not far from where we live so I looked them up online. The reviews I read were good and they also had a website that offered a first time wellness exam for a huge discount. Of course that was great. When calling to make an appointment the girl was very friendly. Once at the appointment the staff was so friendly like we were there many times. Daisy was comfortable with them all and we have had very thorough exams and information for her each time.

Arroyo has a great staff, everyone is so friendly, even the pets there! Everytime I've went here, the costs were explained thoroughly and I've never felt like I was being cheated. I've noticed that they always throw in a couple things for free and I definitely appreciate every bit, pet bills can really add up but I trust these guys to help me make the right decision for my pet. Recently, my dog was acting strange and they had to stabilize her levels here and let me know I would have to take her to an emergency vet (VCA) down the street for overnight care. The vet at Arroyo let me know that they were going to charge at least double what I was paying and gave me good advice on how and what would happen if I took different routes. I really value and trust this staff. Overall, I would definitely recommend Arroyo and their staff to anyone looking for great care and a friendly staff!

I've been taking my dog here since he was a pup and they have always taken good care of him. The receptionist and doctors there are very attentive to the symptoms and always take the best care of him. They don't force products on you but only recommends the best for your dog. When you need any information don't hesitate to call them, they will answer any questions you have. i would recommend this clinic to everyone!

We started taking our puppy here back in May. I signed up for the puppy preventative plan for $900 since we were going to neuter. After getting all his vaccines and his neutering done I totaled up all my bills and they do not add up to the $900. Not even $600. I contacted to confirm there were no more vaccines needed and they told me he was good until 1 year. So I asked for a copy of the puppy plan info again because there has to be some other services they provided that maybe I just forgot about, like maybe dental checkups. Nope. Pretty much a neuter/spay, vaccines, preventative checkup and unlimited nail trims. The same day they emailed me the flyer I voiced my concern about being sold a puppy plan that I thought was discounted services if I prepaid up front. That was back on July 17th. I didn’t hear back. July 21st I followed up again. This time I received a response stating my question was forwarded to the manager. After 3 more business days in July 24th I emailed again asking for the managers direct contact because no one has responded. As of July 29th I have yet to hear anything.This is extremely sad because I didn’t want to have to find another vet. I am willing to pay for services rendered but am not happy for being sold something as if it’s and discount plan when it’s not. And the lack of response for their customer service is just unacceptable.I will add it’s been hit or miss on the visits. They started off well. But then each visit we seemed to be upsold on other items. We’ve also come out of pocket an additional $125 for non preventative care items. The day before his neutering I was told drop off is at 9, they get started about 10 and it would be about 30 minutes and I would get a call after. Being concerned for a puppy going under I called at 11:45 when I didn’t hear back. I was then told he was set to start his procedure at 12:30. So at 1:45 I called and the vet tech I spoke to was very snarky telling me he was just getting started and not done and that they would CALL ME when he was. I would not have called those two times if I was not provided incorrect times from their employees.We started taking our puppy to this vet in May and in just over 2 1/2 months we have paid out over $1000 all just for them to ignore my questions and concerns.

We're with our second dog going to Arroyo Vet. Clinic, and prefer it over several others we've tried. Dr. Mavi always has the time to discuss any concerns or answer questions regarding our Bernese, Tahoe. Good, friendly staff and usually easy to get an appointment that works best for us.
