Great place and great food. I was a little wary of the price but totally worth it, Especially since this is a fam owned business in SJB. We ordered the double cheeseburger, mushroom cheeseburger, and fish & chips. We could tell it was all fresh (came out steaming), and portions were much bigger than expected. I would definitely come again.Edit: forgot to mention how friendly everyone was.

I don't know about the burgers because we didn't order any, but what we had didn't seem home made. The fries weren't for sure. The fish (& chips) was too oily. The chilly on top of the fries was really too much. We didn't expect that.Overall, it was ok, but too expensive for the quality of the food and for the location. The tables outside were nice, but the interior wasn't very welcoming.The service was quick and friendly.

The food is absolutely delicious! The burger was hot, fresh, greasy and satisfyingly good. Price is up there, but the quality is good and youbget sides with it, so it evens out.The Tex Birger was even able to be lettuce wrapped, which was great. They had some of the best Onion Rings I've had too. Definitely try them out.Edit: Dropping a star. Returned to visit and considered their big challenge burger for fun, but due to dietary restrictions, I asked if there could be changes. They said no, fair, but lost a big sale. Bummer.

This was a blast! I can't wait to take the challenge of eating two double cheeseburgers and three baskets of fries and be on their wall of fame! Some of the best burger I've ever had this place is absolutely iconic and to come to the town of San Juan and be able to hang out here and enjoy having an awesome burger and chili fries makes it an unforgettable day! So grateful I got to you come here! This place is famous.

The Jefe burger was great!!! I loved every bite of that burger. I recommend getting a single patty on your first trip as they are 1/3 pound patties and I was satisfied with my single patty burger even though I am usually a double burger kind of guy.The customer service was phenomenal and although I don't usually tip when I have to go order the food myself at a counter and I am taking it home, I was impressed with the girl behind the counter so I left her a tip.The chili cheese fries looked amazing, but the chili was kind of bland for my tastes, so I deducted one star.I recommend giving them a try!!!

Everything about my experience here was absolutely delightful! The food was amazing, one of the best burgers I've ever had. The chocolate milkshake was also sooo good & huge! The service was great, the young girl who was there (I didn't catch her name) did everything on her own from taking orders, to serving to bussing on a busy night & was so thorough & quick & extremely nice! We drove all the way from San jose & will definitely be returning

This was a to-go order, burgers are always cooked very well here. I got the California burger which was amazing the bun was toasted nicely and all the toppings are served on the side (the lettuce was very fresh and crisp) so you decide what you throw on your burger. I got onion rings as a side and they were good as well. The price is not bad at all for the quality ingredients used. Definitely a must check out spot when looking for a Burger and local business!

Yes, it’s pricey but it’s small and local. I will always support local. (I’m from Clovis,Ca). We are on our way home from Pajaro and decided to stop for a burger. What a GREAT place to stop! I got a double bacon cheeseburger, kids got a corn dog and kid’s cheeseburger. This is by far one of the best burger meals I have had. Everything was great, even down to the fries, onion rings (thick and crispy) and service.

After driving / walking / running by this place for YEARS (I would say even close to a decade), I FINALLY went to it today! And, really, I don't understand the rave reviews for this place.First, the ambiance. It's quaint and interesting. It's like an 70's diner but SMALL and run down. Second, the service: fast and friendly is what I would describe it. Now the food and price.Ok, the place is PRICEY. If you've been to Islands Burger in Monterey, it's about that level of pricey. $20 for a 1/3 lb cheeseburger and a good amount of onion rings. Seriously, this makes me think Habit Grill at $10 for something similar isn't all that bad now. The onion rings were GOOD and plentiful. The burger was good, but too well done. Islands asks how you like your burger done. This place just cooks it until it's well done. The bread was just ok. A regular sesame seeded buns. The toppings were fine. All in all, this was a decent burger with excellent onion rings for quite a bit of money. Would I go here again? No, probably not. Habit Grill is better at half the price. Islands is also better at the same price. Personally, I would just make a burger at home next time. A burger is like the easiest thing to make.

I had one of their fancy burgers and the garlic fries. Although on the pricier side, the food was very delicious. I really enjoyed both, and a big bottle of Mexican Coke. It was hot outside, and slightly warm inside the establishment, so i sat in the room with the AC, and all was well. The young lady working there was very nice and attentive.

Great restaurant, good food. I docked 1 star off food sadly because every single time I have been there the hamburger patty has been very over cooked. I wish they asked how you want your burger cooked. Last time I went there I spent a little over $50 for 2 hamburgers and 2 drinks for them to be over cooked.Hopefully this changes in the future, I really like the restaurant and the food is great except that one thing. just baffles me, why get such awesome meat just to ruin it and make it dry/overcooked.awesome parking. I will go again when I have friends. I want to ask next time about the meat, but I feel a little uncomfortable like i’m being a burden. I really think they should just ask how you want your burger cooked.

JJ offers fresh juicy hamburgers made of beef, chicken, vegan patty comes with fries. Shakes, soda or brew is extra. It's a little pricey but well worth it. El Jefe is my favorite comes jalapeños, pineapple, bacon 🥓 😋They have a kids menu. Patio dinning only. Mask required to go inside and order. Enjoy!

The burgers are sloppy full of flavor and topped just right. Choice of fries, garlic fries, chili cheese, or onion rings all delicious. Indoor and outdoor dining available with a unisex bathroom at the rear of the building. Plenty of parking in the rear and biker friendly. Easy to get to since it's right off the Alameda and close to the mission.

My wife and I are staying in SJB and decided to walk to J&J for a burger. I ordered bacon cheese and she ordered a normal cheeseburger.The bill was $62! I had a bottled water she had an iced tea. I thought wow, this should be good!We were very disappointed with our burgers. They had way too much salt, seemed dry, and had no real taste. The fries were also very salty. I hardly tasted any bacon. It was like the burger had been in the refrigerator and was microwaved for us.Sorry to be so harsh, but, I’ve never had a bad burger until today. Kinda mad we paid $62 too.

Nice place.I found this place on my way to Monterey for a conference. It's a nice little burger joint with friendly workers. I ordered the chicken sandwich with guacamole, a side salad, and a bottle of orange Fanta. Overall, the food and service were great. The reason for the 4 star rating is the bill was over $26.00.

While the service was very good and attentive during our meal the price points for a burger at an average of $18.00 was a bit of a shocker. My expectations were then very high of the flavor and presentation.. both categories rated a solid 5 out 10 for both. The bread was volume purchased, the meat was not cooked to my specifications. To be totally fair and accurate, I was never asked how I wanted the meat to be cooked, something I would have expected after paying 25 bucks for a burger and 1/2 fries. I had the meal with for other who also ordered a burger and total came to $102.00 for the 4 burgers and 3 drinks. Bit steep..
