Amazing feed store with a bit of everything! From dogs, to horses, beekeeping, chickens...you name it! Vitamins galore, food choices for days! Felt so welcome and cared for by staff. So happy to have found a great quality feed store in San Jose. (Bean the dog agrees....he was definitely not bribed with a 30inch bully stick...😂😂)

Been coming here for over 10 years for our guinea pig supplies. Food, bedding and treats (timothy hay). The staff never seem to have any bad days. Always friendly and knowledgeable. So glad we have something like this locally.

Best place to buy pet supplies, livestock feed and supplies, and bird feed. They are very helpful and friendly but most importantly they are knowledgeable. I'm done with pop up "pet shops" that cater to a small population of dog owners. Sam's has been a staple in the Bay Area for a reason. They are consistent and hard working people. Love them!

Just went here for my first time today to pick up some chicken feed. We are planning to head to the chicken park to feed the chickens.Sam was very friendly and helpful and helped us find the right kind of feed since I had no clue what to pick. There are so many options. 11/10

Friendly, knowledgeable staff, a great selection of items for animals big and small. If they don't have it, they will order it and call you when it's in.This is a family business with little community touches like low-cost organic herbs/tomatoes from the Santa Clara County Master Gardeners, and BYO-container cat litter. Highly recommended!

I go to Sam's for my grain free cat food and kitty litter. Their cat food prices are competitive with other stores, but the staff is more knowledgeable and friendly.I also buy dog treats made from potatoes for my friends dogs. The dogs love them.It's a great place for pet lovers. They have so many products for a variety of pets.

Super helpful place full of great knowledge. You want to farm or ranch.. they can help get you started and maintain.Love this place since they will find an answer if they don't know it by taking down your contact information and get back in contact with you when they get answers.Prices are good too and Since I like asking questions about my projects and getting friendly help this place is for me.I have used them for rabbits, dogs, cats, chickens and RATS ! yes I have PET rats and hamsters too!I always shop there for the good stuff.

Sam's has been in business in San Jose since before l was born. The service is great and you can ask them anything about your farm animals or pets. Prices are competitive and they stock just about everything. Check 'em out; you won't be sorry.

Just needed to pick up some chicken feed for the free range chicken who walked into my yard and decided she like it. Small parking lot but I still managed to find a slot. The staff was friendly and helpful and full of info on how to care for "my" chicken 🐔. Its a feed and grain store right out of the olden days.

They will be supplying me with my dog chica's shots. And that makes them on the top of my most wonderful place on earth.since she's only 5 months old, ,and even the humane society has let me down. Yes Sam's downtown feed & pet store is 100% the greatest of all.

Great place with a lot of item. I was surprised by how many brushes they had for cats and dogs. They also carry bee supplies, this is great for the beekeeper. They do have quite an extensive supplies. Not every thing but vail, suits for adults and children, hives, hives parts, accessories and some treatment.

Great supply store, they have the real deal in terms of what they offer for food, not just overpriced OxBow products. You can get quality rabbit, chicken and hay at affordable pricing. For instance a 50lb bag of rabbit feed is around $25 or so. They offer storage containers, dogs houses, rabbit hutches, chicken coops, horse supplies, leashes, collars, treats and more. This is a fun old fashioned feed store.

This is a great traditional feed store with many items you cannot find at a big box store. Plentifully stocked with the necessaries for chickens and bunnies. There are also all sorts of other animal food, supplements, and supplies for dogs, birds, cats, etc. For our chickens it had things I had only seen online, but right there with knowledgeable staff to explain and comment on the items as to whether they were appropriate. There are also publications on various animals and backyard farming. They load everything to the car or truck, which is nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and the store is clean and attractive by feed store standards. I do wish they had a visual guide or poster showing the various bag sizes and types of poultry feed somewhere. I always feel silly saying "I think it is the blue bag stuff and 25 lb., or maybe it is 50 lb.?" But I end up with the right stuff at reasonable prices. The only downside is trying to get into the lot from the far side of San Carlos. I usually go left early and come a full block around the back to take a right from San Carlos into the lot for safety's sake.

Great place! Instead of ordering from amazon go to Sam's! This place has been around for a long time and should be supported. They even have Bee supplies. It's a little further for me but AnJan on Monterey closed so I now go here.

Experienced, knowledgeable, caring individuals who will answer any questions they can or point you in the right direction to find the answer. This is much more than just a pet food store this is a San Jose gem that's been there for me, my friends, and our community for decades. I'd much rather spend my hard earned cash at Sam's than at any of the poorly staffed, major-brand-only chain stores. Sam's employees CARE. Also! If you're looking for honey from local bee keepers to fight allergies, this is the place!

Good selection of pet products and food. Warm, personal service; will special order non-stock items or recommend other local sources. Years of experience enables them to answer almost any questions you might have. Expect to pay a bit more than the big box stores but they can't match the level of service here.

Great staff and feed supplies. Good selection of feed hay at competitive prices as well as many various supplies from bee keeping to a selection of exotic bird feeds. Got a bale of orchard grass hay for about 30 bucks. Even a small selection of locally produced honey by the entrance :)

Super friendly and very helpful. They carry out and load heavy/bulky items, and you don't even have to request the assistance. It's family owned and they're very knowledgeable. They have always been able to answer my inquiries regarding dog food, chicken care, and beekeeping.

Sam's Downtown Feed is a GENUINE place to go if you want to find the right stuff for your pet. Old school feel and look. Big history in the location too, from what I understand it used to be a speakeasy in the prohibition days!

I am grateful to have a supply store like this nearby - it is crucial. We buy our chicken feed here, and occasionally we get damaged straw bales when it rains for using in our garden.Service is helpful and friendly and their inventory is fresh.

Old time feed store. Great place to go for animal feed. They carry lots of different types of feed for different kinds of animals. Not your big box chain store. Bulk feed is available for fowl, barnyard animals and birds. Plus normal dog and cat. We bought Duck feed with some calf manna. Stuff not seen at Petco or other big box stores. Staff helpful and knowledgeable

I love going to Sams. They have been there since I was young. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about my dogs food, as she gotten older 17 now, changing her diet with more appropriate food has help her. They always help you with your purchase. Carrying it to your car. Thanks

My only stop for my dog food and more. A cozy and familiar staff, extremely willing to help one find everything and anything for your pet needs and pleasure. Top shelf feed and the appropriate toys or special care items best suited according to the age and activities one's pet desires. Sharing the wealth of knowledge that comes with the years of experience from being in the service of one's pet and its owners is common place for the all of staff associates working at Sam's. Eg. The brand Call of The Wild dog food which includes Salmon as its primary protein had sold out in the large portion bags and only the smaller, less economical bag remained on the shelf. The staff, knowing that I prefer the larger bag, without hesitation offered to sell me the smaller more costly per unit price at a prorated price based on the price per pound of the larger bag. More over, the manager promised a call to inform me as soon as the product delivered. Naturally, he made good on his promise and I continue to enjoy my shopping experience every time I replenish my Rotti's food supply.

At one time their customer service was really good. They have a person working there that is not helpful nor does not appear to want to help. Just my observation. Have noticed this several times when i entered the store. I have used this store for a long time & have not had this situation until recently. Will be looking for another pet feed place.

Great palce to get some extra large sized bags of dog food for my canines. They have the largest variety of any pet food I have seen in the San Jose area and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Plus the upside is this place is a local small business and you are supporting the local economy by shopping here.
