I shop Safeway for DoorDash shop/ deliver so I see every Safeway in the San Jose area fairly regularly. This particular store is easily my most favorite. It's not as big as some of the other ones but they have everything that the other ones have. I can find my way around that store much quicker than the larger ones. The thing that makes it five star worthy though is the staff that works there. From the people who are stocking the shelves at 5:00 a.m. to the regular cashiers and store staff that are there the rest of the day. These people never fail to be helpful when I need help and friendly the rest of the time. If you live in the area, this store is equal to any other and it's right here in your neighborhood! I will be back again for sure!

Instead of receiving an immediate refund at the store, you're required to initiate the process by calling their customer service. Moreover, Safeway often insists on having the original receipt as a prerequisite for refunds, adding further hassle to an already unpleasant situation.My advice to fellow shoppers: don't fall into the same trap. Before making any purchase, especially involving gift cards, it's imperative to exercise caution. Upon confirming your choice with the cashier, meticulously inspect the gift card inside its envelope. This extra step can save you from the headache of navigating Safeway's convoluted refund process.Moreover, I believe it's high time for Safeway and other retailers to take responsibility. Leaving gift cards vulnerable and accessible on open shelves invites fraudulent activities. Store is fine, typical safeway. staff is attrocious. Simply tried to ask for the bathroom code with a "hey boss?" and got ignored and walked past. I persisted, and he without looking at me, proceeded to say the code annoyed as if I asked him to sign a pettition. I get it, I sure as hell don't wanna work there. But it's not my fault you chose to work a mandatory-union retail job that pays minimum wage in the heart of needleville. If you're gonna answer like a... what I used to relieve myself, at least acknowledge me the first time you hear me.

Would leave 0 star review if I could. Bought some cheese there today that was tagged $9.49, but was charged $11.99. Tried to explain the situation to the self check out lady, Dede and she was EXTREMELY rude, patronizing and condescending. Please teach your workers how to talk to customers, because you guys just lost a customer.

This store is amazing. I needed a large catering order for sandwiches for a school event. I came to this Safeway because it is close. Paniz and the other amazing staff behing the deli/hot food counter made everything so easy for me. They helped me customize my trays, helped me load my cart/car, and the pretzel slider sandwiches were soooo good and a great value to feed a crowd of 150+. I highly recommend this Safeway for catering food orders. I ordered on a Tuesday for pickup the same week Friday afternoon. I will be back!

The main reason I go to this Safeway is because it is less than a mile from my house. So it's walkable if I choose.Everything is there from prepared foods to frozen foods to the usual things you would find at a grocery store, especially a Safeway.I've always found staff members to be incredibly friendly and helpful. There's ample parking. So there's not much reason for me to go out of my way to a more distant Safeway or other grocery store.

We were visiting our family and had to run to the store on Christmas 🎄 day. We appreciated the fact that they were open, however pretty much half of the store was empty. No eggs, no milk, but they did have a relatively good selection of organic fruits and vegetables. Prices are ok (it's Silicone Valley after all) and I was able to get the Kroger discount and rewards, but I was not able to pay with Kroger Pay. Overall it was a positive experience and we will definitely shop there again when we are in the area.

Uncaring staff and security. Also police don’t care about people doing meth right outside their doors. I called and made the complaint and an hour later they are still sitting there after speaking with police. Literally sitting with foil and a straw smoking it.. disgusting

Walked into Safeway on Almaden at Cherry and walked out. It's a death trap if there were to be an emergency. Sure they did it to prevent theft but I'm never shopping at any safeway that has barriers to prevent you from leaving without a receipt. They have the same death trap setup at the one one Capitol Expressway at Tully. Should be illegal. I'll shop at safeways that aren't death traps in an emergency.

My neighborhood store and I shop here regularly. Very well managed, very clean, very good quality of merchandise, and well stocked all the time. Easy parking. It is relatively a small store but I hardly have trouble finding what I need. In fact, I have had much better experience here than the big store located on 4950 Almaden Expy, 3 miles from this store. The store has evolved so much over the period of time. One of the new things - all the isles have been given the names of the neighborhood roads .. unique!. I sort of enjoy coming here. One of these days I'll like to see the store manager personally and congratulate him or her for the quality of the store.

Today, whilst shopping at Safeway near the checkout lanes, I witnessed a middle aged lady harass a boy and another man. She deliberately ran the cart into the boy while turning left and told him to wait because "ladies go first."Sorry, but I think that if you're going to turn left into the self checkout section, you should check if someone is coming before trying to rush and hit them with a cart! Then a Safeway employee, instead of helping resolve the matters, forced the boy outside and said that they instigated the fight, although the lady pushed the cart into him.

Went to pick up 2 cakes for my sons birthday and they had no recollection of my order ever being placed. When I presented my receipts everyone started panicking and they told me to come back in 10 minutes to get them. I said I'll give you 30 minutes and returned to the store to find they AGAIN messed up. One of my cakes was completely wrong! The other was so sloppy and unprofessional. The writing was crooked and smashed onto the left side of the cake. It read happy 1 birthday instead of happy 1st birthday. Total disaster. Cakes should have been free at this point but I wasn't even offered a discount. Very dissapointed. Will never return. Go elsewhere for your bakery needs.

Only grocery store near me so its my go to. It could be better w better quality produce and prices can be steep but not as steep as whole foods. Really don't like the stands they put in most aisles. They just get in the way and make it hard to get by if there's another shopper nearby or passing. Sometimes they block what you need. Driving further to Lucky's on Redmond is sometimes an option, big store, great produce wide aisles and the lines are not as bad as Safeway.

TLDR; good grocery store. Nothing wrong with this place IMHO. Great selection of food and wine and also beer! There are about four isles of wine and one isle of beer. Includes a Starbucks also. Been going there since I was a kid and never had a bad experience. Staff are also friendly.

Decent Safeway thats typically open 24/7 barring holidays. If you need a late night grocery store in San Jose this is a much safer option than Safeway at midtown.

I worked at Almaden and cherry hated it. they fired for being asked by my supervisor to work to cover some one for their lunch past the 5 hour rule so I am biased about most Safeway but I enjoy the one at ALMADEn and Camden. I am willing to go inside to that ONE but refuse to go to aNy SAFEWAY out of spite. EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN POS GATOS

It's a good store with good customer service if you're shopping in A. V.The only thing I would say is the pharmacy has forgotten to order my medication a few times. Now I have been picking up a couple a month for 3 years. If the prescription is sent Friday afternoon you may not get it until Tuesday if it has to be ordered and the supply chain is making several types of medication difficult to find so it seems to be worse. I won't know until the prescription is ready, this months took 4 EXTRA days and this isn't something you can run out of. Since there were orders missed before I haven't figured out if it wasn't ordered or they couldn't get it.They have a large selection of beer, wine, etc. Overall it's a good store, clean, helpful, etc. Just not totally sure of the pharmacy. I do know that Rite Aid didn't have my neuropathy meds so it could be everywhere which is scarier.

These guys have pretty solid healthy choices for lunch. I like the variety of salads they have.Also $5 Fridays on chicken are pretty awesome for the meet eating type.Sushi is also typically on sale on Fridays.

This better than average Safeway Supermarket with better service than most. Has very good deli, meat & produce departments. Well stocked with all basic groceries. You can tell it well organized and managed by efficient checkout when busy!

I've been here multiple times but today made me want to write a review BECAUSE during the nation's Covid-19 pandemic, finding an available public restroom is almost impossible. When you do finally find one, most of the time there is a code you must enter (due to the mass homeless population that abuse the public restrooms, not all do but most), which means you must locate an employee who is in the middle of doing their work duties and tasks. Not here though! Located right in front of the store with no code to enter, are the restrooms for all to use! The store's cleanliness is great and the customer service is great as well, always greeted with a smile! The location is peaceful and no matter what time of day you decide to grocery shop, you feel safe! You must try grocery shopping here at least once, you'll not only see the difference but also feel the difference compared to some of these other Safeway locations!

Safeway app is a waste of time and only way to get decent prices!Response to owner's comment:The app takes way too much time to find and add each product one by one to get a little savings for each product. Not worth the time and otherwise prices are too high. I prefer every day low prices!
