I like my 2 Petco locations, their well rounded, educated, professional associates, and it appears the pricing seems to be getting a bit better.Both local Petcos I shop are always clean, staffed, and well stocked.I do enjoy the online ordering with pickup within a few hours and it's occasional extra discounts.NEW...RECENTLY visited the Saratoga Avenue Petco where MIKEY was greeting and working the register. What a perfect well rounded associate who, if he wanted to, could be running any type of retail store but he loves animals in seems, so we are blessed to work with him at our Petco.

I went today and the aquatics man was extremely helpful and informative not just to me but other ppl as well that were before us. I think his name tag said nick? I could be wrong. Helped me pick the right fish that won’t be a problem with my betta and a plant as well for my tank. He is very knowledgeable and we appreciated his advice. Friendly as well and didn’t seem bothered my our questions (thankfully). Our cashier was really nice too! I’ve had nothing but good experiences here. This is my favorite SJ Petco now. Even though it’s the furthest from me. They always have stuff in stock and it’s a good experience. All employees I’ve met here have been helpful and kind. I appreciate how they care for the fish and ask me how many gallons in it to ensure they have a proper home and educate others shopping as well.

Great location with a lot of supplies. They also have a great grooming team and an adorable kitty adoption center. We’ve been getting our dog groomed here for 4 months now and our pup actually loves the visits!

I have been residing in Saratoga for 11 years now, and I have some parakeets and a red-eared turtle that I bought from a Petco store in the area. I used to have a great experience shopping for pet food at this location, but the last two times were really bad. During my first bad experience, I went to buy a green cheeky conure, but the young lady attending to me did not allow me to purchase what I wanted. Instead, she recommended something else and kept denying everything I was saying, making me feel like I didn't know what I was doing. During my second bad experience, I went to buy a small fish to feed my turtle, but the lady at the store told me they didn't sell it for that purpose. I had already bought the same item many times before, but she claimed not to know who had sold it to me. This was very unprofessional, and it made me think that Petco needs to review their staff or replace them altogether. I would not recommend anyone to visit this location, and I will not be returning there again.

It's huge with an entire back wall for a glassed-in grooming area, with two dogs being groomed by a groomer each. Even though it was a quiet evening, I was attended to and well taken care of by at least 3 friendly staff persons who answered my questions, all coming from a first time dog owner ranging from Xmas treats and grooming menu, to pet insurance.

We took our dog for their first ever grooming here. I said the priority was to get them comfortable being groomed. True to their word, they only did what he liked - everything except his face. This is a big win to me, they could have gotten his face but at the expense of fear at future groomings.

Came in to get Fresh Pet dog food and some bulk dog treats.The young lady at the register let me know where to get Fresh Pet which was helpful.The one thing you should do is post a sign over by the bulk dog treats to let customer's know the price per pound. Just an FYIThank you

Vetco/Petco 500 El Paseo De Saratoga San Jose, Ca. I was there yesterday with my kitten for vaccination, and it was such a disappointment! Health services staff were very incompetent. They were not wearing protection gloves to handle the vaccination and just keep pressing my cat against the metal table. They told me that my cat was not allowing them to do the vaccination. One of them poked him once with a needle without completing the vaccination. Then, another one wanted to throw a towel on his face, but they ended up telling me that they were just causing trauma to my cat and that I should take him to a full service vet. I am glad my cat looks fine after all the trauma caused by those incompetent people. All I have to say is that if Vetco/Petco doesn't have competent people to perform this type of vaccination services for cats, they should not give customers the option to book these appointments.

Horrible service brought my dog for wash and brushing remove winter coat. ..washed and only half brush and then refused my business saying my dog was a problem when they stressed out my dog and charged me full price. Gromming management is horrible. Don't let them touch your loving pet

This Petco is actually really really good the people there are very helpful if you're there can you need help look for the tall guy with a goatee and long hair that's definitely who you want to help you out he knows where everything in the stores at and is very knowledgeable on everything been there a few times will definitely keep coming back

Updated 2/18/23 Candace is very helpful. Deven was very helpful today. April is was very helpful last time I was in. Upgraded from 1 star to 3.For grooming caused seizure.Terrible experience there my dog had his first ever seizure in their grooming department they never called me they took him to a vet and then my dog died a few years years later after being on medication and it was a very horrible experience and I would not recommend ever going to their grooming department. I just saw an ad on TV that they’re now called a wellness company and it just like made me sick so that’s why I’m writing the review now.Never use their grooming. And if you think this is a one off search Google for Petco dog injuries or dog deaths.

Giving 5 stars only because of the staffs at front desk was so kind. He tried to understand and resolves the issues with our bad grooming experience. He listened to us about the details, saw our dog and asked his manager if he can waive the grooming fee for us. We did not expect that but I appreciate how kind and patient he was. Thank you so much!The grooming experience:I took my Papillon for grooming here and asked for nail trim, sanitary cut for paws, genital areas and below his tail. He had mattings in his ears so I agreed that he would get them trimmed and evened out.He was returned with one nail untrimmed, paws not shaved and a bald spot behind his ear without any evening it out.I told my groomer Changson that he still has one nail not clipped but she said angrily that is the shortest he can get… I had dogs for decades and I know what the shortest it can get looks like. She just forgot one nail… his other nails were trimmed but she said it’s extra charge for the nails and paw trimming in grumpy manner. She glared at me like I am a hassle for asking questions, I understand that service industry is highly stressful. but her response when I simply asked her a question and hearing dogs crying , groomer screaming “noooo” did not make me feel comfortable to come back for another grooming service.

Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. We adopted 2 kitties at their adoption center. They carry all the stuff we need. I only took one point off because it feels like an underpopulated Costco with these high ceilings and fluorescent lights.I mean, this isn't an interior decorator complaint, it just feels kinda down, despite the super-happy topic and staff.

There really isn't anything special about Petco. They are a big-box store for pets and pet supplies. The inventory they hold is massive... but somehow still lacking. There are product options that fall into a broad quality spectrum. However, the pricing tends to run up to 30% higher than other stores or online options. It is not always easy to find an employee to help... or be helpful. They tend to answer questions with an air of confidence that is misplaced.

They have a humane society adoption center where you can look at the animals there. And the staff was quite friendly, not Petco Cashier though.The price at Petco is moderately expensive. We sometimes get really good deal on cat litter at Safeway, but never at Petco. It has a huge selection of everything, it's great if you need to get something last minute.

Do not take your dog here to get groomed unless you want your instructions completely ignored. We brought our beautiful chocolate Parti Yorkie here and they absolutely butchered him. The staff is completely incompetent and shaved him bald even though we only asked for a trim. I would give them credit for giving us a full refund, if that even came close to compensating us for ruining our dogs beautiful coat.Please avoid this place for grooming at all costs.

I was in store about 45 mins there was not one CSR/TM in sight the entire time. I went to check out and asked the 1 person I finally saw for help purchasing a fish she declined to help me and walked to the register told me to wait there for the person to come back they were around somewhere, the cashier came made me pay for my items refused to sell me a fish said all my items had to be paid for first, then told me go wait at the fish someone will be with you so now ive been pawned off by two people unwilling to help, as I began walking towards the fish a flood of about 2-3 employees came walking out of the back laughing and joking one of them walked to help me well she refused to sell me fish she just wanted to upsell me on a tank so now I have a fish set up and no fish. I will be going to a different petco and returning everything and going to PetSmart instead.

I brought my dog there, usually for grooming in any other salon takes 3-4 hours but they called me less than 2 hours that ur dog is ready to pick up . I went and brought back my dog straight home and i noticed a tick on my dog . I called them and explained what happened but the groomer told me go and buy some pills for your dog! Ispoke to the superviser but she wasn't helpful and kept asking me what u want from. Us . So irresponsible and careless . I would never go back there

The fish tanks area and overall fish products are wayyyy better than any other petco in the South Bay. It just attracts customers right away. Well maintained. Kudos to the employees!

The guy Vincent from salon refused to give haircut to my dog because he thinks it will takes too much time to brush. My dog is 3 years old and he went to the salon every month. No other groomers refused to do so. This guy has low work ability and bad attitude to work. Will never come back

Many of shops say grooming takes a few hours, but they do finish in 2 hours at least.I went back 3 and half hours later, they couldn't say they have had started.I went back again 1and half hour later, I could see they have just finished trimming which was not better than I might do.About 30% more charged than other shops,I wonder what's going on inside the room which we can't see.First visit and last visit to this place.Specially, the short brown hair cut, Asian lady,I wonder my dog was her first trial. Unbelievable!!

It was blessedly cool in the store, for which I was grateful. They had what I needed and checkout was pretty quick, if a little more expensive than I would have preferred.
