I am quite literally sickened by what I saw in this store. I am not a bird snob. I am all for birds being accessible. But the conditions these birds are living in are absolutely abusive and abhorrent. I couldn’t even go in there to buy my bird a toy because I felt sick to my stomach supporting such a business. I heard the owner say “no photos” (likely because it’s so abusive and he knows it) as well as he asked a customer if they want a bird who “has color, or a bird who bites” this is an extreme red flag for anyone who knows literally anything about birds. I took some photos to show just how awful it is. He even seemed to have just clipped a macaws feathers off and left them on the floor in the store. Do not go here.

Found our dream bird here. From tiny rare finches to majestic macaws, the selection here is truly breathtaking. Louis is knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about his bird babies. He made the perfect match for us and has since helped us many times over the last two months. Our nanday's healthy, playful, and beyond loved. I visited the shop with interest in getting my first hand-tamed baby cockatiel. This store had many to choose from and I decided on one who I named Jack. He’s a healthy happy and sweet baby that was eating out of my hand and stepping up consistently after only a few days. Now, I’ve had him a week now and am so happy I went to this store. I plan to go back to get him a friend soon..If you are looking for a bird or bird supplies, this place had a great selection of both :)

I’m from out of town and stumbled upon this place today. These birds are very well taken care of and loved by the owner. It shows! He answered my question about Indian ring-neck vs. parrotlets. I honestly had to turn down my purchase because I did not expect him to have parrotlets! I can see how his strong personality can be misinterpreted into something negative, but the owner is looking out for these babies and the shop. His passsion is out of love. I most definitely plan on coming back!

Drove to Louis shop from Tracy with family. Louis has a very good variety of birds. Finches, lovebirds, canaries, doves, and exotics birds like macaws. Wide variety of cages and bird supplies as well. Louis helped my daughter pet a few parrots as well. Kids were really happy! Louis helped us select 2 pairs of green and blue lovebirds. We also purchased a nice bird cage, feed, and toys. Louis setup the cage and birds for us which was quite helpful. We will definitely come back for more birds and supplies! Thank you Louis :)

I bought a Indian ringneck beautiful bird Louis was very nice he gave me a very good price not a lot of people will do that he is a great guy and really knows his birds he takes care of them really good recommend this spot a lot and told me tha when ever I need to clip his wings to take him he’ll do it for free not a lot of people offer that really recommend it a lot 💪🏽

I bought my Cockatiel, Pepper, from Louis in May (1st picture). Pepper was hand fed and right from entering the store and taking Pepper out of the cage to hold, Pepper was friendly and liked being held. Since then, Pepper has been so happy and is very affectionate. Louis and team have done a great job helping these furry friends be ready for their future homes. Today, I went back to Louis to get Pepper's nails trimmed. He did a wonderful job and I didn't hear a squawk nor screech come from Pepper. (2nd picture). Louis was kind enough to give us fresh water for the ride home (it was over 95° outside). Thank you Louis for raising your birds to be friendly and ready for their homes. &thank you for treating Pepper so well when trimming his nails. I will definitely be back when another trim is needed and maybe in the future to get Pepper a friend. 😄

I came after work to purchase my daughter a budgie. We ended up getting 2 a hand fed one and a baby one. Louis helped us get the whole set up. Cage , food , water , toys. He chose the perfect bird for my 10 year old he was honest and knowledgeable. ! He sure knows his stuff. I’m in love with my birds and I can’t wait to go back.

We were mainly looking to see what kinds of birds were available and to get information. We almost bought one right on the spot, but decided that we were not ready for one at this time. The owner was very helpful and patient with us. When we feel that we are ready for an exotic bird, we will be back. My two girls were a little scared, but the owner made them feel safe.Thank you for your patience and time.

I got two Cockatiels from Louis which almost unavailable in all San Jose pet stores during Civid 19 outbreak. They are hand feeding so they are able to stand on my hands after 2 days of training. The owner speaks fast with a lot of helpful information, and he allows one guest each time to enter the store but you don't need appointment. The store opened far later than 1pm that day, and you may want to come after 2pm or 3pm. All in all its a good place for pet bird and supply, call the owner first to check availability and remember to wear a mask.

We bought a non-hand fed Buttercup cockatiel this past weekend. The shop is small and basic, they have a variety of birds and the owner was friendly and helpful. A little overpriced, but worth it.

First of all the place looks dangerous. The birds in the store are constantly abused and not treated well. The owner cares more about other things. The prices are ridiculous and stupid. The owner is evil, arrogant abusive and disrespectful. He dose not care for his animals nor his costumers. I’ve done research about the prices and I concluded that Louis is a big scammer. Frankly I’m not surprised just looking at his behaviour of his peers. Louis page may look interesting but it is just a scam. Never come to this terrible place.

From the minute I walked in to this business, I felt chaos, and a very uneasy feeling. I was looking for a hand fed baby cockatiel.When the owner interacted with me, he was VERY distracted and rude. He reached into the cage, pulled out my cockatiel, that had many young cockatiels and stated that all others were already purchased. I purchased this bird.This little bird is no where near being hand tamed and is VERY small and slow to progress. I’ll be taking him to the vet next week.No prices are posted. There’s a highly distracting environment, which doesn’t leave me with a good feeling. Will never return to this business.I don’t want to hear any response to my post, as I’ve raised cockatiels myself and know all about socializing them, hand feeding, and easing them into new environments.

The owner is very rude!!!! As soon as we walked in...he gave us attitude and told not to touch nothing. We didn't feel comfortable after the way we where approached so we left almost right away. It wasn't what was said...its the way it was said! Will never come to this place again.

Went to "look" at his cockatiels... came home with a beauty. Louis was friendly and helpful. Cages are small but birds look healthy. He has many different types of birds. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. His birds are good.

DON'T COME TO THIS STORE!!!Came here several times during their business hours only to find the door closed. The owner is the most rude person I've ever seen. He lied to his customers about the birds' bio and he doesn't care about the birds at all. The price is much higher than normal. I would never recommend this store. What's more, please consider adopting before buying.

I spent over an hour last Tuesday speaking to the owner when visiting his shop. He gave really personal attention.. He was both knowledgeable and cared about birds. Having my own small flock of pet birds as a hobby I understand how much work it is to care for birds and give him credit for all the hard work required. Yes, to some his prices may be higher than other places, but it is worth it to get a bird from a place that specializes in the business and from a store where they are knowledgeable. Besides, it is always worth a few more dollars to support a small business versus a large chain store. I was very glad I visited and will come back to Louis' Bird Store again soon.

Louis is an awesome guy he also gave us a great deal with the cage, food, and the 2 parakeets! His birds are so beautiful and well taken care of. He will also clip the wings for you and informative with any questions. There is a long line to get in, but it's worth the wait! I highly recommend this place to all fellow bird lovers!👍

I’ve gotten about 6 birds now from Louis’ and have truly enjoyed them. Louis is very knowledgeable in helping me pick out the right one for me. This place is definitely the best place to get a bird in the San Jose and surrounding areas.. I drive all the way from Santa Cruz and it’s so worth it. Thanks Louis!
