Held a small meetup event here today, and despite the last minute changes to group size/a lot of back and forward emailing the owners remained helpful and friendly.The kayak rental was very reasonably priced (only a bit more for three hours than some local places charge for one hour), and both kayaks (my sit in single and the other group members' sit on double) were in excellent condition. The shop is also very conveniently located a few minutes walk from the Alviso Marina boat ramp, with the kayaks packed away and payment accepted within five minutes of returning to the dock.Overall I would highly recommend Laine's Baits and Rentals to anyone in the Bay looking for a quiet day on the water.

Rented a 2 person kayak with my wife today for 3 hrs of peaceful paddling. What a great time. Fabulous place to deal with. Arrived, did some paper work and were met at the dock a few minutes later with the kayak and all the gear. Super friendly people and excellent service. And great equipment. I highly recommend Laine's Baits and rentals.

This is for kayak rentals.Told our big group $30/person on the phone then charged us all $35/person in-person. Laine's "bait" and switch sales tactic, you could say. Sized us up knew we were not going to back out with a big group and decided to nickel and dime us for them making quick extra bucks. I dislike their integrity.The kayaks and service were good.

What a hidden gem! Kayaking the aviso slough is a must-do for anyone in the area. We saw tons of different birds and also seals! Laines rented us a very affordable kayak and even brought it to and from the dock for us. Great service, thank you for the fantastic day out!

They said theyhad multiple vending machines outside that worked with credit cards. The reality;They have 1 vending machine that only takes cash!Thanks for wasting my time and gas!!!

People here are really friendly and give good tips and places to fish, currently not renting out kayaks due to covid but still renting out their boat (call in advance for availability and so they can prepare.) They have good quality frozen baits. When I went there they didn't have live bait due to covid and transportation (would call in advance too for live bait) over all a really cool place to get bait, tips and maybe rentals for kayaks and boats in the near futures. Please be patient they may not be in the shop at the time you arrive, just give them a call. Let's show them support in these tough times!

Had a great time today renting a couple kayaks to take out into the slough. Very peaceful and if you like planes lots of activity from the nearby airports. Even got to see a couple F-16s circling around above us. Will be back again soon.

Wasted our time. Was excited to go here, looked like a legit cool spot.Showed up to a sign saying "open", but then had a smaller sign below it with a number to call. Called the number, guy said he'll be at the store in 5 minutes. Guy shows up on a bike 10~15 minutes later. Doesn't open the door, doesn't even acknowledge the presence of us either, just proceeds to call people on his phone while we stand staring a few feet away. Completely ignored us so we left after he started his second call. Wasted our time and made it seem like he was doing us a favor, would not recommend.

I always wanted to stop here when I go to Alviso Marina but never took the time. So today I finally took some time to visit Laine's Baits and the owner is a super nice guy. I'll come back for kayaking with friends. The price is $25 for 3 hours with the equipment included. Seems like it is best to go in the morning before the wind picks up. The shop also has plenty of fishing supplies.

We had a delightful time on a Sunday afternoon kayaking near the Alviso marina and slough! Kyle at Laine's Baits and Rentals couldn't have been a better host--he provided the kayaks, oars and life jackets--and put the boats in the water for us. He cheerily gave us a brief orientation and answered all of our questions about the history of this charming setting.We had an adventure! There were large beautiful herons, egrets, cormorants to see along our route. We even saw a Pacific SEAL!I am a beginning kayaker and the kayaking itself was pretty easy.The only surprise for me was-- no one else was out there! $30/boat for half day. I'm surprised more people in Silicon Valley don't take advantage of this fun and inexpensive adventure!

I was riding my bike past and stopped to chat with the owners, Keira and Kyle, a young, energetic couple. The bait is fresh and I'm looking forward to renting a sit-on-top kayak. Delivered to the boat dock at Alviso Slough.

This place is the best.. Always has fresh baits n very good customer service.. The owner n his wife are awesome both have put me on big striped bass and sturgeon all over the Bay area. Highly recommend this bait shop

Called in advance was told to call again when i get there 20 min drive there i called and left a messge called two more times 10 min apart and waisted 40 min driving plus 30 min waiting and no one showed up they used to be good bait shop no more never again

I guess, it you want to rent kayaks in the morning, call the day before? Don’t trust the website hours. We called, slowly walked over to the park and back, then moved on with our day.
