This store has a ton of large fish breeds and insanely large fish. There's a decent amount of community fish. They seem to be a $1-2 more than a big box store. Unlike a big box store they don't have dead fish in every other tank. The fish also seem to be more mature.I asked for 6 zebra danios. I told her there's a couple leopard danios in the bag. She said no the purple stripped ones are zebra. I said I know but that one has no stripes and I don't think that one does either. She said they were so I took her word on it. Turned out I got 4 leopards and 2 zebras but the store was too dark to tell.Update I was able to take the leopard danios back and get zebras. For the hassle I was given an extra zebra.

They have a lot of cichlids and some of them are rare and hard to find. The only problem here is the hours of operation which starts at 12 noon and sometimes later than that that’s why I only gave them 4 stars. I came here one time and waited for an hour until I decided to leave and come back some other day. My suggestion is to call them first to make sure they are open and ask specifically for what fish are you looking for so you don’t waste your time. Just be ready with your budget because it’s not like the cheap aquarium shop locally. The owner in this store is very firm with the price but other than that I liked how healthy the fish looks like. Highly recommended place for fish hobbyists.

King Aquarium is the only lfs that sells the beautiful Electric Blue Jack Dempsey's. I'm so glad that a lfs in San Jose knows that there is a select group of hobbyists that adore this beautiful fish.

Great little shop. Wide variety that should hit all of your needs. What sets them apart for me is how clean every tank was, and how healthy all of the animals are, including the plants. Prices are average, but cleanliness & health is why I’m a fan.

I went about a month ago to stock my new 15 gal tank. The staff was pretty chill and you can tell that they are well liked because it was full and the customers were chatting with the staff as if they had known each other for a while. They were quick to help get my fish and choose the food for the new coridoras I bought there. They also sell a huge variety of different food, supplies, and tanks. I especially love the huge tank they have by the entrance with huge catfish and their goldfish were also fun to look at. The fish all seem healthy as well. Overall the place is great, one of the best in San Jose :)

This place is amazing great people the new owner is very friendly she really know's her fish lots of variety. Yes they may be a little more expensive than your local petco or pet smart but you try running a tropical fish store in this area if it was easy there would be more of them. The fish are top quality and always on good condition they no longer carry salt water so they can focus on keeping there fresh water tanks clean and healthy. If your seeing people complain that they may not be open at the hours they say that has not been the case over the last year. But if you want to be sure call first we all have phones.

King used to be great back in the day, now they have gone really down hill. Think new ownership? Most fish are sick or dying, very poor selection, all tanks are super dirty and the place is a mess. Prices way too high for basic fish. The worker didnt know much about what they were selling and (I think it was the owner)seemed irritated by any questions pertaining his stock, definitely will not be returning. Neptunes aquatic and this place are night and day. If your looking for a great selection of healthy fish, knowledgeable employees and better prices, go there its ten mins away. Good luck

I came on 9/5/2017I came in with a big smile on my face and greeted the store manager but they kinda just stared at me. The fish there were just the ones I was looking for but the prices were way high like 24$ for a six inch fish. Some of the moor telescope fish were missing eyeballs like whole eyeballs like someone cut it of. Other than that the store was great and the store owner realized that I was Viet when I spoke to my mom and acted a lot nicer.

This used to be the go-to spot. It definitely has changed since 2010 . All the employees where friendly and knew what they where talking about when you asked them something. Tanks always clean with great fish to look at and buy.I live far from this place so I like to call first to check if they have what I want.Now you can call 10x and they won't pick up the phone, only to walk in and see someone sitting next to the phone bored as hell. This Place smells now and you can see rat fecies in the back by the empty tanks. I walked around the entire store with out being greeted or asked if I needed help. Simply took a drive for nothing since they did not have the fish I was looking for. Took my business else where since.. No service overall

Hello, today on Sunday me and my wife and 2 kids walked inside the store and said hello to the front but was not Greeted by anyone of the 2 women. We walked around hoping for someone to help us but was ignored and Scolded at by the 3 guys working on the tanks. We are a Latino family and wanted to by some red shrimp but felt very uncomfortable by the staff. Hopefully they can learn some better customer service skills.

Oh man this place is the Best to go for some Exotic Fish. They have a Huge Selection of Fish. The prices are reasonable on some of the Fish, they have SILVER AROWANAS small to Big size. Some Nice Catfish as well, that other places don’t have all the time. Same as some Iridescent, They lady seems to know her fish well skilled. I travel from Salas to San Jo just to find the exact fish I’m looking for. Nice Place to look at and Space out haha....

Located in a strip mall, which means off-street parking. I definitely appreciate that in this area of San Jose. They really are not taking sufficient precautions for COVID, unfortunately. The aisles were very crowded and two customers were not wearing masks at all. They have a moderate selection of sundry and a pretty broad selection of freshwater fish, favoring the larger varieties. Minimal dead/sick in tanks. Tanks did tend to be a bit crowded and they did have bettas in cups, which is always difficult to see. The store was warmer than I expected, and kind of dark. One of their air pumps needs replacing and was buzzing very loudly. Was not approached by staff.

I'm sorry, I'd really like to give a better review. Maybe/hopefully in the sort future if things change. But, COME ON! First let me just say, Dont go there before 1 oclock, they never open on time. Ive waited hours before. I've been their a few times now, and each time Its the same. But this is what your going to be missing when you go there. And this is so important for the consumer and how they feel in the store. None of the tanks are labeled! No Names, No Descriptions, No PriceTags. Little to no help with customer service to remedy that. So the entire time you're trying to shop you're frustrated and confused. And each fish you see. You, then wait to ask how much is this fish and what is this fish. Only to get a unclear name (heavy accent) no discription and a high price tag. Most people don't want to talk to anyone they just want to go to explore their options. And not walk in and immediately need help through the entire store. For Christ's sake just take the effort and print out some labels and Hell change your store hours if you're not going to show up on time

Prices range from fair to a little high, selection is decent and the tanks are clean. The big star loser is the fact that they stock painted or dyed fish. These fish should not be carried anywhere and it is the responsibility of stores and consumers alike to kill off their trade. For that they lose two stars.

If there was 3.5 stars I'd give it that. Their freshwater selection is quite good and they even have some monster fishes and fish you don't see elsewhere. The issue is their prices and general uncleanliness of the store and tanks when I was there.

Arrived at 1115 am Sunday morning. Hours listed open at 11am. Not open no one insideReturned at 2pm. Still not open supposed to be 11-7 on Sundays.No sign, phone line has a busy signal all the time.Not the first time this has happenedNot a great way to run a business. Very frustrating

Good selection of fish, but sick fish. Bought some guppies and glass catfish... next day it was like armageddon in my tank. Started out with approximately 75 or so fish... now I'm lucky if I have 15 or 20 left. Won't be going back.
